Jauron was fired in Buffalo after a 3-6 start this past season. He compiled a 24-33 record there after being hired by Marv Levy in 2006, but the Bills’ offense traditionally was one of the league’s worst. Jauron previously served as the defensive coordinator and interim head coach in Detroit, was the head coach of the Chicago Bears and was the defensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Prior to that, he was a defensive backs coach for the Green Bay Packers where he served on Mike Holmgren’s staff with Reid.
The Eagles lost Brian Stewart to the University of Houston. Stewart served as a defensive special assistant last season. It’s uncertain what role Jauron will fill but he’s someone who would bring a wealth of experience to the team.
There was speculation Jauron could reunite with another NFC East coach. His name surfaced as a possibility with the New York Giants when Tom Coughlin was seeking a defensive coordinator, but that job went to Perry Fewell last month.
Jason La Canfora reports we have signed him.
Juaron is a very respected Defensive Backs coach, so I can see this being a very nice addition.
