Happy trails Antonio Pierce

The Giants announced today that they've cut LB Antonio Pierce after 5 years with the team.

"They obviously wanted to move in another direction. I have no animosity," Pierce said by phone. "If anything, I’m excited about it. One thing about it – I’m at peace with it, because I know for five years I gave this organization, this city, everybody, I gave everything I had. I don’t regret anything. Any situation, even the negative with the Plaxico (Burress) situation."

Pierce has been a face of the Giants and a key figure in their rivalry with the Eagles over the past few years. Although frankly, he mostly struggled against our Birds and wherever he ends up(if anywhere) I'm sure he'll be happy to see the back of Brian Westbrook... Come to think of it, he's probably pretty used to seeing the back of Westbrook.

There's several guys on those good Giant defenses that I've liked and respected, Pierce is not one of them. He was a big trash talker, but on the field he was always kinda slow... Plus, I never liked his yearly whining about not making the pro bowl. Getting rid of him was a smart move forward for the Giants.

He was a mismatch made in heaven for us. Hopefully he lands with one of our opponents next year.

Personally, I would say it’s nobody. But if I had to pick a guy, my choice would be Ray Lewis.

Never understood his hype EVER

He made a few plays here and there against the run but the past few years he’s been super average. He was always hyped up by the Giants fans a little bit, but boy was he a huge mismatch against our speed. I thought he was lucky to have a job last year to be honest.

giants fans hyped him when he rang up 140 tack. ok not manning. how bout brees or brady.

point is very smart i dont miss many games unless ol lady is in labor it aint happenin.that said im glad hes gone . his time came and went 2 years ago . your all hyped about vilma , cant till you how many time hes done it 4 the gmen. imo vilma not as vocal .but vilmas a 3-4 stud!

He was pretty hyped up coming out of Washington. By then he was decent, and I guess word on the street was he knew the plays very well and was a “leader.” He’s definitely a reason why we were able to beat the Giants twice in 2008 to dash their playoff hopes of another SB run.
