The Eagles confused the Giants by having only ten men on the field for the onside kick
"Giants special teams captain Chase Blackburn said the Eagles’ ploy of having one player run off the field before the onside kick got the Giants confused, and that the Giants’ kickoff return team was busy counting the number of Eagles on the field instead of focusing on the task at hand.
'They did something good,' Blackburn said. 'They ran a guy off right in front of everybody and they’re all looking at each other saying, ‘We’ve [only] got 10. So we’re doing the same thing, trying to recount. And then you forget about that ‘alert’ a little bit. That’s kind of what happened.'
Giants coach Tom Coughlin, who has been widely criticized for not having his hands team on the field when the Eagles tried the onside kick, was not pleased that his players were distracted by the Eagles’ trick.
'That should not have been any kind of distraction,' Coughlin said.
But according to Blackburn, it was enough of a distraction that it turned around one of the biggest games of the season."
If this was all a calculated ploy, then Bobby April deserves a lot of credit.

That Awesome.
That makes the whole play even better. Bobby- you are forgiven for everything else now.
Eagles- 10-4, sitting in first place, and just had one of the greatest comebacks in Eagles' history!
Phillies- Cliff Lee.... HE'S BAAAAAAAACK!
Funny you should say that
I had that thought about April a lot of times during the aftermath of Sunday’s comeback.

I would assume it would be alright as long as the kick started after the player was off the field...
Nothing wrong with having less players on the field…that is normally considered a disadvantage..
Well
The thing is that the core of special teams is often the back up LBs, TEs, DBs, and WRs.
All of them for us (nearly) are very young, not seasoned special teams vets. I think part of the improvement this year is the growth of those players, and they’re starting to figure out what they’re doing and put it together.

Thats Sweet!
Ive never heard of it being done. But it worked to perfection.Just goes to show the mental aspect of the game that is constantly over looked.

re diversionary tactics on Eagles onside kick
I’d have to say that Bobby April, if he was the architect of this, has to be on his way to redemption for the average to below average season special teams was having. That was friggin’ brilliant, and with this info, genius! But a lot….most…of the credit has to go to Akers. What a kick!!!! Anybody think that would be easy to do???…..ask Matt Dodge, I’ll betcha he could do that easy, man!
Honestly all the credit goes to Akers IMO
the kick was perfect, absolutely perfect, non of the other shit would’ve mattered and Cooper can out jump all of those guys so I doubt it would’ve made a difference…
Either way getting in their heads was amazing.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

"Please notice the difference and proceed to suck your own tiny ass cock. Secondly, A simulator shows how things COULD go, not WOULD.. Once again bend in half and do the deed.." From me.. To CNCITINFO.
agreed. 2nd best onside kick I had ever seen. (1st in the NFL)
The best was a college game (can’t remember who), when the kicker onsided it and caught it himself.

Hat's off to April
It was the foundation for the comeback. I called the fake to a buddy of mine before the kick, but to pull a man off the field to confuse the giants is genius and hilarious!!!
