Around SBN: Baseball Unveils The "Sam Fuld Rule"

This was a "Where were you?" game. So... Where were you?

I take great joy in knowing this guy had an awful day today.

It's 5:44pm as I begin to type this, and my hands are still shaking.  This was the second game I've ever covered from a press box (the first being another thriller earlier this season at home against the Colts), so I'm a rookie of sorts in that regard.  In the past hour or so, I've just been soaking in the various images I've witnessed in the aftermath of perhaps the best regular season victory in Eagles history.  The recorder on my phone contains a boatload of great quotes from the Eagles' players, but I'm way too giddy, lightheaded, tired, woozy, whatever, to write anything coherent right about now.  That'll come later when I can actually process the events that occurred at "The New Meadowlands Stadium" this afternoon.  For as long as I live, I'll never forget where I was for this game.  Feel free to fill the comment section with where you were.

Here is just a random recalling of things I can remember right now:

- Cheering in the press box is prohibited.  Well, "prohibited" might be too strong, but it's definitely frowned upon.  Watching Dave Spadaro jump around the Giants press box like a lunatic during the DeSean Jackson return was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.  The Philly writers in general were pretty much cheering, which is apparently extremely rare.

Star-divide

- In the aftermath of the celebration, NFL rules say that you must kick the extra point if there's a TD scored with no time left on the clock.  It was difficult finding 11 Giants players to get out on the field for it.  There was a really old-timey beat writer sitting in front of me, and he desperately wondered aloud if the Giants could block the PAT and return it for a TD.  (He wasn't kidding, mind you, and he wasn't taking the loss so well).  I was all too pleased to assure him the game was over.

- On the way down to the locker rooms, you walk through a long tunnel area.  Along the way, there were a few fallen Eagles fans handcuffed and being processed by the NJ State Police.  They were of course joined by a bunch of Giants fans that were also headed to the pokey.  Philly may have a jail right in their stadium, but I saw proof with my own eyes that similar setups exist elsewhere around the NFL.

- The highlight of the locker room scene was the entrance of Brandon Graham on crutches (below).  He entered, just started screaming, and Brodrick Bunkley, Mike Patterson, and others along the D Line started screaming as well.  High comedy.  Apparently, Graham watched the game in a luxury box with Giants owner Bob Tisch.  (Tisch has ties to the University of Michigan).

Photobucket

- Watched as a cart was taking fallen rookies Brandon Graham and Nate Allen away, and DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin hopped on for the ride, with DeSean chanting "Ea-gles... Ea-gles" as opposing fans looked on. (below, although a little blurry, fans not pictured)

Photobucket

- Andy Reid had a bloody hand (presumably from the celebration).  During his presser, I asked how he cut his hand, to which he replied "Can we get some good questions?"  I've officially been sassed by Big Red!  Hooray!

- LeSean McCoy in the locker room yelling, "What's that? SIX in a row?!?"

- I personally attended the Duke-Kentucky "Christian Laettner game" back in the '90's, the 4th and 26th game, the Phillies Game 5 clincher over the Dodgers to go to the World Series last year, and the Phillies Game 6 clincher over the Braves to get to the World Series in '93.  This game topped them all.  Please share your giddiness below.

AHHH so YOU were the one who got him to say “Can we get some good questions?” Haha that’s awesome! I was wondering what happened to his hand. The press conference was the best I’ve ever seen from him. He was like a stand up comedian. “Son of a buck!” “Where you alive when that happened?”

I was at home, and I think I screamed NO FUCKING WAY about 20 times as Jackson was running it back.

They post it on their facebook fan page a couple days after the game usually.

At first, however, I was at a family function, and the Eagles game was on, but I wasn’t able to watch it intensely and overreact to every play like I can in the comforts of my own home. I got home during the beginning of the 4th quarter, and it went from there.

I and the 10 or so other Eagles fans in the surrounding suites were hopping like mad when DeSean returned that kick.

Wow nice stories from the game, and lol @ the douchebag Giants fan in the picture along with the fat bum in the corner smiling

Anyway, I was inside my house watching the game with my 2 friends (also Eagles fans). Me and 1 of my other friends thought the game was over after the DeSean “fumble” that Reid didn’t challenge. My other friend said we had it the whole way though, turns out he was right in the end. After the amazing punt return we started screaming and jumping on top of each other (no homo) and went outside and ran down the street (I know, but the adrenaline was pumping). There were 2 Giants fans outside a house with a HUGE Giants flag on his front lawn packing up their car. My one friend screams EAGLESSSSS and the typical drunken Giants fan idiot goes “You got somethin to say?” we just laughed at him and he goes “didn’t think so” and gets in his car. Funniest shit ever.

Just realized:

Last season, we played the Giants in what would be our last Giants-Eagles game at the old stadium, and we won. This year, we played for the first time in the new stadium, and we won.

Awesomesauce.

"Where were you?"

With 7.5 minutes left in the game, I was sitting (alone) in my living room in Shanghai wondering why the hell I ever paid $250 for NFL Game Pass, and why I got up at 02:00 to watch this sh@@.
4 TDs later I was screaming into a sofa cushion trying not to wake up my wife.

Damon's Bar and Grill

8 Eagles fans, a bunch of Giants fans, and we erupted in the 4th quarter. I’d started drinking heavily in the 2nd quarter, went to the bathroom after we made that last stop, preparing for overtime before I went to the bathroom, I mentioned to another table of Eagles fans that DeSean hadn’t returned one for a touchdown). I got back and stood in the aisle to watch the punt and the whole place exploded with Eagles fans. We were jumping all over the place. It was awesome.

Coral Springs, FL in an Ale House

I’m down for college winter break and the whole game im hearing douchebag NYG fans yelling “Tuck, Tuck!!!” in my ear. I met a cordial NYG fan and we talked throughout the game, the second Avant got the huge block on Dodge, he ran a Desean-like 40 out of the place. I tipped my waitress and extra three bucks and left with my brother. Its funny , half the place was silent and the other half was nuts. When first got there, the jerkoff manager asked me “Do you want to sit outside? There will be 50 giants fans but the sounds on.” I replied I’d pass as I do not rub leads in and I know as the grand-spawn of a NYG fan that they do. God I wish I was outside. I’ve been an Eagles fan forever (20 of my 22 yrs on earth) and this made me tear up.

Trevor Laws: "Thank Giants for kicking to (Desean)."
Mike Vick: "Why would they kick to Desean?"
Matt Dodge: "Snap too high!"

This is a true story;

When my dad was about my age the he was watching a Giants Eagles game, got upset at the score and went into his room. My grandfather came up and told him that Herm Edwards had returned a Joe Pisarcek fumble and won the game.

Today i left my living room around the third quarter, went up to my room and watched Terminator 2 on cable. My dad started screaming (at the onside kick) and i came down to watch.

Before Jackson returned the punt i looked at my dad and said “remember Westbrook in 03’?”. 14 seconds later we ran around my house screaming like little kids. One of the greatest games Ive ever seen.

I was visiting friends in Baltimore, and turned on FOX hoping that the Eagles were on…nope, it was the Saints-Ravens. So I was checking the score on my BB every couple minutes. Got in my buddy’s car driving back home, and fell asleep for a half hour when I saw the score was 31-10. Got on 476, and my friend in the back seat alerts me that the score was 31-24. Being back near Philly, we turned on the radio to listen to the game. When they had tied it up and stopped the Giants, we had just dropped one guy off at his house and I thought “Awesome, all we have to do is get to overtime and get in field goal range. But man, wouldn’t it be awesome if DeSean could run this shit back?”

We got to a Hess Station on Route 222, and I hear the cacophony of screaming coming from Mike and Merrill. I started flipping out and the guy driving me goes “Haha, that’s unbelievable. My dad has to be in a state of shock right now.” His dad, though a really nice guy, is apparently a Giants fan.

Oh, and I made sure to call my sister before the game to set up my computer to record it. Good move.

I was hoping to send the game in overtime and not lose it on a stupid mistake in the end. During the return I saw a piece of debris flying onto the field which I thought was a flag. So I wasnt that excited until Joe Buck exclaimed no flags. I guess I’m the only idiot who thought there was a flag for an illegal block.

I'm enjoying this win as much as ANYONE

and I’m sure everyone’s going to tell me its too early for this but…

are we going to let the W completely erase how horribly the eagles played for 52 minutes? THAT team could not get a playoff win. THAT team is going to struggle in a nail biter against Dallas. I don’t want to say lucky win but.. I’m a realist. I would much, much rather see us steadily take the lead and stay ahead than have to dig ourselves out of holes week in and week out.

Seriously, how many times can we repeat that kind of performance???

by shadytown on Dec 19, 2010 8:12 PM EST reply actions

Yes, it is too early.

We have all week to think about the utter ineptitude of this team through the first 52 minutes of the game. And honestly, I’d rather see wins like this than wins like the Patriots are churning out because they won’t be blowing out teams in January and February. This team has a swagger that’s infectious.

Regardless of whether or not we think they can win every game from here on out with their current style of play, we know there’s a chance they can, and that’s something, is it not?

Win the next two very winnable games at home, and we get a bye, and we don’t have to go to New Orleans, or the New Meadowlands, or Soldier Field. I like our chances.

Listening to Merrril Reese online

Since I live in DC, the Skins game was played on TV. It ended early and they momentarily switched over to the Eagles game, but then they yanked it back off the air after citing NFL rules. Fucking teases.

Listening to Merril’s call of the DJack return reminded me of the electricity he had when he kept repeating “the Eagles are going to the playoffs! the Eagles are going to the playoffs!” back in the 90s after Eric Allen knocked down a pass in the endzone. Goosebumps.

Since we have an announcer as awesome as Merril Reese, I dont really care whenever the game isnt shown on TV. I’m proud to be able to say that I heard the Merril Reese broadcast on this classic comeback. Cities to Embarass this season:

Washington (45 point first half, check)
New York (21 point comeback in last 7 minutes of 4th Q, check)
Dallas… what better way to top it off with a SB win in dallas

by 700 Level on Dec 19, 2010 8:21 PM EST reply actions

My initial thought is

it easily trumps 44-6. But then when I think back about the circumstances… the fact that we had to have two teams lose in games they were favored to win, then to have it be Week 17, do or die, against the Dallas Cowboys. There was a lot that went into that game… then to win it in that way was a thing of beauty.

This was just as euphoric at the end, but if we would’ve lost, our season wouldn’t have necessarily been over. Which wasn’t the case with the 44-6.

Either way, two wins like that in the last two three years is pretty effing awesome!

I got so pissed off at the start of the 3rd Q that I said “Fuck this, I’m going to work out.” Thankfully, they have flatscreens up there. I was going absolutely nuts; almost everyone there was staring at me like I was a lunatic.

After Desean scored, I chest bumped some 16 y/o kid. LOL. Unbelievable.

I was at

HI-5 in Glenwood south Raleigh NC … if you are an Eagles fan in the Raleigh area I strongly suggest you come out next time we hold it down.

I moved from Philly to NC 4 months ago and have been hanging out with the Raleigh-gles for that same time. This game was amazing, after dealing with ONE annoying Giants fan because the rest left at halftime thinking the game was over we proceeded to chant the fight song after every TD and then an encore of 7 rounds following the victory.

Simply amazing … Miracle at the NEW Meadowlands … we have officially made out mark on the new stadium … I love this team.

True story

I have an Eagles snuggie and I brought it to the bar. I wore it 90% of the time and went fairly unnoticed. Then Desean scored and I ran around the entire bar with my arms up screaming (I was literally the only Eagles fan in this sports bar) but everyone knew why I was running around. I ran out right out the door and did the biggest swan dive into the snow covered, icy parking lot and slid about 40 feet. I didn’t think anyone saw it it but apparently everyone was watching through the windows. Oh well. I was excited.

Enter the Vicksperience.

He kept sending my kids in to yell “Who Dat”, and insisted on reminding me how Vick and the Eagles were choking, and how much of a god Brees is. Next thing you know I’m running around the house yelling, and he tucks his tail between his legs and sneaks off as the Saints lose. My boss calls me and says i better not even think of wearing my Vick jersey to work tomorrow. I definately will ………

I had to wake up for work at 5am but I figured to watch the game and get a good 4 hours of sleep. I finally gave up on the game after the Desean fumble and Boss TD, and thought to myself “well this game is over, goodnight” I wake up this morning and check facebook and all I see is “Greatest game ever!!!!!!” by my friends that are Eagles fans. Lets just say some curse words were said and I went and checked NFL.com for the highlights…. Nothing you guys could say could make me feel any shittier than I already do. But its fine, because I know the eagles have at least 1 more week in Jan to watch.

Following/Reversing a superstition

My cousin, a big sports fan, has a “man cave” in his basement, and for years he tries to get the guys (ages 20 to 60) over for big games. Ever since Eagles/Pats superbowl, I’ve been convinced that , as much as I like my cousin, these get togethers in his basement are bad luck. So, I usually turn down the invite and perfer to watch the game at home (online with my BGN buds) if I don’t have tickets. Alas, every year I’m compelled to go to at least one game and just couldn’t wiggle out of this one.

So, as soon as I arrived, I told the guys that this game is just too big to give up on and if the Eagles are losing at halftime, I’m going home to change the karma. They laughed. As the first half went on, I sensed things weren’t going well, so I made sure I got my fill of wings and pizza ( I know I wouldn’t be around long). Maclin fumble – Giants score – Coat on…and I’m outta there (much to their surprise) and a shitload of grief.

Get home a couple minutes into the third, and although we “3 and outed” on the first drive, I kept the faith. Bitched and moaned and yelled and screamed and shared my disbelief at the non-challange like the rest of you for 22 more minutes of play. And then the heavens opened and I screamed and jumped up and down and gasped and ran around the house until I finally got my heart rate down to normal a half hour after it was all over!

Lastly, I called my cousins house to make sure they all knew that I was right, the Eagles just don’t win when we’re all together. They turned the tables on me and said, that’s okay I’m banned anyway!

I guess I’ll go back to seeing my cousin only at weddings and funerals.

I have to thank my wife

We had tickets to a Hershey Bears game tonight @5, so I anticipated we’d have to be on the road around 3:45 — 4:00 at the latest

I was watching the game with my wife and one of our friends who is also an Eagles fan. We’re despondent and sarcastic the whole first half and completely cursing out Reid for that non-challenge (and what a bad decision, he should buy Vick and Jackson lunch for bailing him out!). I had 100% given up on the game. It was just a matter of how bad they’d lose and what this would do to the playoff hopes.

At one point, I think right after Maclin’s second TD, I realize we should leave. The game will be on in the car, after all We get up and are getting ready to the hockey game, I still thought they’d lose, but I was proud of the effort at least at that point. I forgot exactly what play it was that made us sit back down, but we were standing there ready to leave and my wife just said “sit back down”.

We were all jumping around like idiots all through the Vick TD drive, and defensive stand, and we’re like “DeSean’s back there! wouldn’t it be awesome if he ran it back”, but really my best hope is just that maybe he gets it in FG range. As soon as he picks the ball up and breaks through the crowd we were just screaming insanely.

My friend who is a ravens fan (in Scranton, so watching the Eagles) called to congratulate me and I couldn’t even breathe. I think Vick made him an Eagles fan today.

My other friend called and said “what happened…” I missed the final play. I just started screaming at him. He said he had to go to his daughters’ christmas program
and I’m yelling “f*** the Christmas program!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It better have been about DeSean Jackson” and probably some other wildly inappropriate stuff.

I don’t know how I safely operated a motor vehicle all the way to Hershey (not from alcohol but from FREAKIN’ OUT) and I had no voice the whole Bears game.

Vick sold me a jersey today.

Besides the game’s events, it was great to see a family of Giants fans leave halfway through the third quarter. The guy was taunting people the whole game (and smoking in front of his kids), it would have been great to give him a taste of his own medicine.

I’m stationed at the mouth of the Columbia River, and unfortunately there is nothing here to do. NOTHING. Not even a Wal-mart. The closest thing to a sports bar was a bar next to a pizza parlor with NFL Sunday Ticket. And of all things it was a STEELERS Bar (memorabilia on the wall and some fan club getting together every single game).

Well my wife and I got to the bar and got the primo seats and tv normally reserved for the Steeler Fan Club. And throughout the game was probably the same reaction as everyone: disgust and wanting to kill things. Well, finally in the 4th quarter my wife starts complaining about just wanting to go home. “Ok, lets just see how they do on the next drive. If they don’t score a TD” I reply. Quite literally 30 seconds later, Brent Celek (whom my wife has a crush on as well as a women’s jersey of him) scores. Then the onside kick and Vick run for the TD happens.

At this point, Steelers fans were beginning to file in and start cheering for the Saints. One of them remarking I look alot more cheerful than earlier. Then Maclin scores the tying touchdown, and at this point I was fired up (my wife mentions how they should go for 2). Some of the Steelers fans were also beginning to get pumped up as well. I’m standing up during the final Giants drive and nudging my wife and teasing her about wanting to leave early (insert hard punch to shoulder here).

The Steelers fans begin whining about how my wife and I had their TV and Table. I keep thinking, just get it to FG range, just get it to FG range. And the rest…welll…you know the rest :) AlI have to say I was definitely the loudest and rowdiest person in the bar with the Steelers fans all looking on in disbelief by what they just saw. I grabbed my coat, grabbed my wife, told the Steelers fans to try not to fail against the Jets (dislike Jets!) and walked out of the bar singing Fly Eagles Fly.

Great Story

At an Arizona Sports bar with my father and mother. Repping my newly acquired Vick Jersey and my mother a #10 Desean. First half was atrocious. Seafood before the afternoon and terrible Eagles football is not a good combination.

Anyway, fitting that a family of Giants fans walked in right before the Maclin fumble and give-away to the quick Giants score to make it 24-3. Douche G-men fan family are coming in late and cheering like they own the place. “YEAH!!! NFC EAST CHAMPS!” Was oober lame.

Anyway, my mother leaves, Dad and I try to stick it out but with a waitress who would not get off of our nuts with “checking how everything was” and Andy Reid’s “lack of challenge” it was too painful to watch. Decided to try to get the check, and the waitress disappeared! At what seemed like the least oppurtune time.

Long enough at least to re kindle our interest after a long Celek TD. We all know how the rest of the game goes. But anyway.

I believe the endeavor ended with myself jumping out of our botth with Jackson spurted delight, and some good game handshakes from the douchey Giant fans.

Whow knew?

I was driving my brother and another carpool member home from drum corps camp. We got in the car just before the Vick rushing TD, and hit the ramp onto the NJ Turnpike as they were lining up for the punt. As we approach the ticket machine, D-Jax took off. We got so excited, I overshot the booth. Luckily, no one was behind us and I was able to back up and get my ticket. My adrenaline was so high I don’t think I went below 80 the rest of the way home.

But luckily got the game on Fox. I got lucky because the fox usually blacks out the games here but it ended up being on. I work at an ambulance company so I was praying we didn’t get a call.

I’m the only one that works here that enjoys football so I was sitting on the couch by myself in misery the whole game, but trying to stay positive for the bleeding green nation. I knew we needed to win this game and i just never felt like it was over until the Boss TD. After the punt I got so excited I knocked my laptop off a chair and broke it, but didn’t care at the moment. Then I ran outside in the pouring rain (huge storm here in southern California. Streets are flooding and everything) I come back in the station soaking wet and my fellow coworkers look at me like I’m an annoying football fanatic, but I could honestly care less what they think. I need to get out of this God foresaken trailer trash hillbilly company. Anyone hiring paramedics in Philly?

I just don’t wanna go to sleep on this glorious day!

I really wish I was at home with my wife and friends to watch it though. Would have been that much better. But oh well, still the greatest game I’ve witnessed IMO. Better than the skins game, better than 44-6, better than miracle at the meadowlands 1

OMG!!!!!

5 am and can’t sleep. So much to cover. Truly great moment as a fan and read amazing stories. Here’s mine. Centre Point in Charleston, SC….5 Eagles fans total and a sea of Giants fans; pissed off watching game with my friend (a Cowboys fan) and listening to his crap as the just beat the Deadskins…no voice screaming at the no challenge flag..ready to leave…I can’t because my Dallas friend talks mad shit about leaving early when your teams down. After we tie the game, I am screaming and bouncer tells me to settle down. Then a Giants fan asks to sit in the booth with me. Giants go 3 and out…….12 seconds….I watch Jackson punch his chest and point to the sky twice…I tell my Cowboys friend..that they better not kick to Jackson AND I told that sorry Giants fan that Desean is AMPED and taking to the house….OMG OMG!!!!!! The look on both their faces PLUS everyone came up to me saying hell of a game, screamed so loud that I have no voice, and ALL I could think about was Jimmy picking against us. Listen, we all KNOW that was and awful game: Vick..INT, Jackson..no show AND fumble, Maclin…key fumble BEFORE half time, Patterson making Manningham look like Kenny Britt…3 tds, REID…not aggressive play calling AND no challenge in a divisional game on the road with division/2 seed on the line; BUT how many times have you seen GREAT teams overcome adversity and win?!? We are witnessing our team clicking at the right time. My heart goes out to Nate…that was a truly freak injury. NFCCG is Vick’s homecoming in Atlanta…sssssssshhhhhhhiiiittt!!! If you thought this and the Washington game was awesome….just wait. Nobody wants to play us AND I like that. I love all you guys especially girls (Eagles brethen) …..if Vick doesn’t win MVP then f@ck ‘em…we’re winning any way. Oh Jiiiiiiiiimmmmy!!!!

at home...

Was watching the game sorta haphazardly through the first 3 quarters, down in my office, with the tv on in the background. Had just taken a call from a client who is a Broncos fan and he was giving me shit about the poor play of the Eagles.

I was irritated but with much work to do, tried not to let it get me down. I get so damn emotional during the games and couldn’t let it affect what I was doing.

Anyway… at quarter 4, after the TD to bring them within 7, for whatever reason I decided to head upstairs and grab some coffee and chill in front of the 50".

Shit started to turn around I was feeling this vibe, getting excited…

Finally my wife who had stopped watching earlier came by me and we watched together.

I don’t know what it was… but things started feeling electric. And by the time Jackson was there, waiting for the kick, I felt like, shit he could close the game right here.

Half thinking I was mad, but half thinking, fuck it, why not — we deserve this shit.

Once he took it to the house I began screaming so loudly and jumping up and down high 5’ing my wife that I began totally freaking out the dogs.

Had to send them outside while I ranted and raved about the most amazing thing I had ever seen on TV.

I lost my voice for a bit and am still giddy as a schoolgirl about this win. Whether it was history… I dunno… this shit was just fucking magic.

I have never been prouder to be an Eagles fan than right now and even though it was just me n the missus watching this one in the final few minutes, I will NEVER forget this.

At home as well

We were getting tired from an uncanny amount of Chinese food we just devoured and literally the game was putting me to sleep when the Giants scored 31. My buddy was like “Well, I better start getting my stuff together so I can get out of here fast when this misery ends”. Needless to say, at that moment I got a second wind…and thats when it all started….

Yelling screaming every second, disbelief that I just witnessed what I did, Joy and Excitement that JimmyK was WRONG in his Week 15 prediction (j/p), shocked that the Giants kicked it to Desean….Tom, if i was you, I think I wouldve got into the game myself and kicked it out of bounds myself because THATS what happens when you give it to DJax to make a play…he will.

I am in the Air Force Stationed in England

And I was watching the game with my 14 y/o son on AFN. After the Giants went up 31-10 he got upset and went to his room. When the Eagles tied it at 31 I started yelling and he came back, and we stood there in front of the TV watching the final minute. Before DJAX ran back the punt, I told him I hoped it wouldn’t go into OT, that Jackson would end it right here, and when he did I kept shouting, “OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, EAGLES WIN, EAGLES WIN!!!” as we hugged and jumped up and down in the air. Great moment for me and my son to share together, thanks so much Eagles, that’s why I love you guys.

On a side note, a friend of mine who is a Giants fan texted me at the half asking me if I liked how that half ended—with the Maclin fumble and TD. Of course my text back after the game was, “How do you like how the GAME ended @$$wipe!”

We already beat the Falcons and we’ve proven our offense can explode at any moment, we have as good of a chance, if not better chance at making it to the SB.

And for god sakes, they need to host the game in Philly one of these days. How do you NOT host such an American festivity in one of the greatest American sport towns? Haters are haters. ESPN all predicted we’d lose, eat that crow.

I was actually taking my daughter to the Please Touch Museum. (I know, I know, bad fan, but hopefully good dad). Recorded the game on DVR. When I got home around 4:00, my wife, who had turned the game off when it was 24-3, told me I probably wouldn’t want to watch, but I insisted on putting it on anyway. Very glad I did.

I missed the whole game.

I did have a friend updating me by text though. Around the 4th quarter, I had taken my GF to a clifftop and proposed marriage…so I was a little busy…I was still extra excited to receive the winning text message!

Packers fan here,

But I watched this game with a family member in Illinois. When DeSean returned it, I saw him fumble, and looked down briefly at a word puzzle magazine I was working on. I looked up, saw him in the clear, and both of us were thinking “OMG.” I even said it out loud, he’s going to run it back.

Later on, the family member thought this game had gone into overtime. Not quite. Didn’t make it to OT.

Looks like the division is now Philadelphia’s to win.

I didn't believe it last August, but it turns out that love survives.

F$%^#$&

I am not proud of my behavior but I must admit something to everyone.

My boyfriends birthday was on Saturday and I bought him the Kinect for XBox and an authentic Maclin Eagles Jersey. Sunday rolls around and we go to the bar to watch the game and get some lunch. He is wearing his new Maclin Jersey. We leave at half time. I was not happy with the way our defense or our offense was playing. We went home and finished watching the game. Once the fourth quarter started, I was really getting pissed off. After the Jackson fumble, we decided to take a break and play some Kinect. BAD IDEA. My phone started exploding (Jeff McLane, BGN and others twitter goes right to my phone with the additional friends). But we had to finished our archery…. Turn the game on and there it was 38-31. DAMN. I can honestly say I gave up on them and they proved me wrong. I will never walk away from an Eagles game again. Hot damn. I’m embarrassed with myself.

At the Lucky Dog

I was at the Lucky Dog in Lancaster with my sad friend(He’s a Deadskins fan). I was pissed off so much when fat Andy didn’t challenge that fumble! I was told by one of the waitresses that I had to calm down or I would get her in trouble. When DeSean got that ball, fumbled, stepped back and started running straight ahead I stood up and just started screaming GO! GO! #*CKING GO! The place went nuts. Everyone was screaming and giving high fives. It was awesome! By far the best moment of recent memory of Eagles football. EPIC!

(8 foot ceilings but Im over 6 feet so not too hard to do…lol) thank god no one had the family camcorder going !

Up in Washington State

but thank god for Sunday ticket. Was feeling depressed and tired as hell from a late night early morning. I dont know how I managed to not punt my dog threw the window or knock my fiancee out. I was just crapping my pants and waving my fists in the air.

Lo and behold goaddamn Sunday ticket cut out for what felt like an eternity right when D-Jack is running it back. I think I was about to rip the satellite off the roof right then. What an unbelievable game, even my fiancee (who watches dutifully because of me) was like “wow that is one of the best games I have ever watched”. Amazing.

How soon did it come back?

The runback was one of the greatest things we all ever saw.

A Giants fan friend (oxymoron) said he walked out of the bar he was watching the game in before DeSean even scored.

Laguna Niguel, CA

at the “Stadium Brewery” (my local sports bar)… I go there to watch games that aren’t broadcast because I’m too cheap to buy the package from cox cable… anyway I’m like the only person in the place who had any interest in the game… i’m going out of my mind and it’s totally weird… after the game i was in shock for hours… i still can’t calm down… what makes it so miraculously… incredibly… remarkably… stupendously… especially great is because it was against the giants… ever since i was a little kid in the 50’s when i first became an eagles, phillies and later flyers fanatic i’ve despised ny teams… this win can only be topped by ten super bowls and a half dozen or so stanley cups…. and a couple more world series wins!!! just one last thing… this would never, ever have happened if the worminator were still an eagle… thank god he’s gone!!!!

at the game....

….section 111a, 30 yard line, 5th row. just to the right of the giants bench if looking out at the field. closest player to me most of the game was the punter, whenever he was kicking into his net he was 20 feet away. kept looking into the crowd and pointing and laughing, apparently he knew some folks in the first few rows to my left. wasn’t pointing and laughing in the 4th.

d-jax held the ball aloft directly in front of me on his return. as soon as he got past the first wave of guys you could see he had a clear path. amazing.

I too was nursing a SEVERE hangover...

throwing up every 30 minutes in a trash can my wife placed next to me on the couch. She kept trying to feed me bread and water only for it to make its way back up again. Not only did I feel like absolute crap but the Eagles were taking a shellacking at the hands of the ginas. I told my wife to just shoot me and put me out of my misery. When Celek scored his long TD is when I started to see a glimmer of hope. As the game progressed I started to feel better and better and when we tied it I my head stopped throbbing. My wife who usually I can never get to watch football with me was in the room with me holding our 6 month old daughter just as excited as I was… well almost. When we sacked Eli I started going nuts and I had to explain to my wife that it meant that we had one more chance to score. After I saw DeSean back there I told her that he was going to run it back because he is the MAN at returning punts. When DeSean dropped it I nearly had a brain aneurysm but when I saw him break through the seam I jumped off the couch and just started screaming OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!! WE WON THE GAME!!! I LOVE YOU DESEAN!!! I LOVE YOU!!! and amazingly my wife was doing the same thing. My daughter had no idea what was going on but she thought it was funny to see her mommy and daddy jumping and screaming so she had the cutest little smile on her face. I felt no more pain from my hangover. I quickly called my parents house where my whole family was watching it and all I heard was screaming. Unfortunately it wasn’t long after my adrenaline wore off that I was back to puking again. That was the single greatest game I have ever seen and now my wife can’t wait for the next Eagles game… awesome. GO BIRDS!!!

I was working, covering another NFL team playing at the same time

from the office. Since my job on Sundays consists of watching all the NFL games and compiling various highlights, I usually don’t take a break between 1 and 9. However, when it went to 31-10, and simultaneously, our home team made their game close, I decided to run across the street and get food, knowing we were in for a long night.

On the walk, I processed the Eagles’ beatdown, as in “well at least they got it out of their system before the playoffs,” etc.

When I got back to my desk, it was 31-24, and the guy who sits next to me (and knows who I root for) says “wherever you just came from, go back there.”

lol

(I of course watched the finish live, and filled in the blanks later)
