If I remember correctly most of us here at BGN were against an 18 game schedule.  Its been said numerous times since then that eighteen games is happening.  I was angry at this but also just kinda "Whatever" about it.  But after watching Collie laying there after a, in my opinion, clean hit.  My rage bubbled over.   Ill explain After the Jump.

To start off Im going to take a paragraph from one of Jasons posts on the front page

The Colts have departed for Philadelphia and left three key parts of their offense back in Indianapolis. The team announced today that they've put WR Anthony Gonzalez on IR with a knee injury and left running backs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart behind with neck and ankle injuries respectively.

Also out for the Colts this weekend is LB Clint Session, CB Justin Tryon, S Bob Sanders, DT Antonio Johnson & TE Brody Eldridge.

Thats nine different players to injured to .  Then during the game they had two players come out.  Brackett and Collie.  I could have sworn there was a third but I can not find  it anywhere.  The colts are averaging one big injury per game this season.  Should we really move to an eighteen game season?

Lets suppose everyteam loses on player for an extended period of time per game.  Thats thirty two players most weeks.  Add another two weeks and you have 64 more injuries.  Including byes there were 117 games played until this week.  IF there is a player getting hurt for each team in both of those games that 234 players who will be missing games.  Thats only halfway through the season.  Double that number you get 468 injuries in the sixteen games there already are.  Throw in the 64 that you would receive from the extra two weeks and you are at a ridiculous 532.  This is just the regular season.  A 52 man roster for 32 teams is 1664 players.  So with an 18 game schedule you would have a third of your players being hurt

Roger you talk about how much you care about player safety.  Then you go and make this change which is only endangering players.  You  can say you are making rules to stop the big hits and injuries.  But its football!  Those hits arent going to go away because you wish they would.  Your making a move that you think the fans want.
