"They are who we thought they were."

For the past few years, I've thought of Dennis Green as a laughing stock for this quote. I always believed it to be over-dramatic and quite frankly, bitchy. However, today, I came to the disturbing realization that I completely understood what Green meant when he spoke these words.

Let's be honest, the Bears play like the Bears play. They run the ball to keep it out of the hands of their shitty QB. You can blame the field all you want, but the Bears were playing on the same field the Eagles were. And guess what, the Eagles had 3 hours before the game to make adjustments to the field. The Eagles played this game the exactly opposite of how they should have.

For starters, how can the special teams be so poorly prepared? The Bears offense is based off of the success of their special teams. If Hester gets hit at the 25 yard line, the Bears offense dies out 9 times out of 10. That being said, the Eagles primary focus should've been on containing Hester, and not giving up big plays. This was not the case however, as time after time Hester ran down the field easily. Multiple times Hester ended up beyond the 40 yard line. "They are who we thought they were."

Secondly, the Bears offense is a disgrace. They run the ball, and the pass it 5 yards. If you want to stop their offense, you blitz, plain and simple. Once again however, this was apparently not included in the Eagles gameplan. After the 1st quarter, Cutler seemed to have all day in the pocket. Other than the Olsen TD, I'm not sure if Cutler threw the ball further than 10 yards downfield. It seemed like every play, the Eagles DB's were slipping and letting 3 yard pass plays turn into 30 yard gains.

The only thing that matched the terrible pass defense was the run defense. Forte was getting 5 yards a carry by running straight up the middle. The Bears literally did nothing new this game than they had all season, but the Eagles simply couldn't stop them.

The Eagles simply couldn't get it done today. Regardless of Samuel, the Field, or the preparation, we had our chances today. We couldn't get to Cutler, and we lost the game.

"They are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook."
