Todd Herremans Fined $5,000 for Cut Block
Giants DT Chris Canty has also complained to the media, calling Herremans a dirty player for two low blocks he claims were intended to take out his knees. Herremans has denied the incident and says he's disappointed by the remarks: "You never really want anybody to think you're a dirty player."

The clip from behind was definitely a dirty play by Herremans. Not so sure he intended to hurt Canty – I think he was just trying to protect his QB, but it was dirty nevertheless. The fine there is definitely warranted. In fact, it’s a little silly that Samuel’s fine is 8 times the size of Herremans’. The chop block he had happens in every game.

the other penalty they got him for (was it a chop block?) was pretty iffy, though.

I feel the same way. Not only is it ironic that Samuel’s fine was so much more, but when you look at the intent of the play, it is much easier to accidentally make helmet-to-helmet contact like Samuel did than it is to accidentally chop block someone like Herremans did. I’m not saying Todd had malicious intent because only he knows…but we do know that it wasn’t an accident.
Canty has overreacted to a degree
The play was dirty but I doubt Herremans did with the thought “I am gonna try to wreck his knees here!”.

I’d like to seem Herremans come out of a pile with a defender’s scrotum in his teeth. I wonder what the fine is for “illegal biting off of a scrotum”.

Dirty players always take cheap shots
and whine about being fined afterwards. I would like to know which incident Herremans is trying to deny happened. They were pretty blatant and out in the open. I don’t know if he was trying to injure Canty, but they were obvious cheap shots. He has quite a few more games to go to get to Runyan’s level of dirt though.
