Defensive Player of the Year: King Cole | Pro Football Focus
You can only say it so many times and hope people listen, but there isn’t a better defensive end in the league than Trent Cole. And that’s not a new thing. Made life tough for Peyton Manning with a sack, hit and incredible eight pressures.

Redskins Insider - DeAngelo Hall: Eagles' Michael Vick 'might be better than ever'
"And I'll tell ya, man, I'm definitely shocked at what he's doing. Definitely shocked. After watching him that first season out [of prison], I was like, 'Man, I don't know if he'll ever be the same guy.' Then watching him this year, it's just like ... you're amazed. It's like, 'Damn. This dude might be better than ever.' I'm just happy for him. I know a lot of people thought he'd never be able to do this. A lot of people thought he was finished. But he's not finished. That's for sure."

The700Level.com - Philly Sports & Minutiae: Our Q&A with Congressman-elect and Former Eagles Pro Bowler Jon Runyan
Former Eagles Pro Bowl offensive lineman Jon Runyan won a Congressional seat in the great state of New Jersey last week. We had the chance to ask Big Jon about his quick transition from a career in the NFL to a career in politics, what he misses about playing football in Philadelphia, and whether or not we could donkey-sit his farm animals while he's away.

Trent Cole as Defensive Player of the Year

OK…..I very sure there are plenty of better DEs in the league not to mention just better defensive players all together. Demarcus Ware the only bright spot on the Cowboys, Clay Matthews on Green Bay, or how about anyone on the Giants D-line all could be considered over Cole. Cole is good but not Defensive player of the year good.

How many games have you watched?

Cole is an absolute animal in not only getting pressure but at stopping the run also. He makes plays behind the LOS and gets doubled hard. Any De on the Giants? Give me a break. and clay matthrews and dware are OLBs, not DE.

Don’t come here with an argument based off an opinion NOT backed up by fim or stats

Keep in mind

This is the tagline in his profile:

Well I love all sports but football is what makes my heart beat. And the team I dearly love is the New York Giants. I need everyone’s support because I live right outside of Hell. (Dallas) I Grew up a Giant and will always be one.

Also, as long as we’re going through his profile, let’s point out that he is a fan of the Yankees, Lakers, Giants, Nittany Lions, Blue Devils, and Predators. Read into that what you will.

In the first article-

“Graham has shown that he’s a talented player. His limitations are based on experience and being healthy. He has 2 sacks and a forced fumble at midseason. Jerome McDougle finished his career with 3 sacks.”

Who doesnt love a good Jerome McDougle reference?

Tommy was way too harash on Graham

VERY few rookie DEs come out destroying people. I think Kearse as the only DE i can think off of from the top of my head that actually tore it up his rookie year and didnt increase his production.

Plus 1) he was injured for 2-3 games…AND 2) they played him on the inside for half the year. If they cant get their heads out of their asses and let him play AT HIS POSITION, he’ll be fine….he will make an impact… He had a great game on his limited snaps vs the Colts…and thats hard to do they have a talented line…

did you read Lawlor’s post?

by eagleyosh on Nov 13, 2010 5:00 PM EST up reply actions

I did yeh

He wasnt too too harsh on him, however I do disagree with him when he says they should keep playing Graham inside. Hes not big enough to play inside. He should stay outside and do what he does best, that is the only way he’ll thrive and improve imo

haha, fair enough. I just wasn’t sure if you knew Lawlor had addressed those things and disagreed with him, or if you thought that criticism of Graham in general was too harsh because of those things.

how was he harsh or Graham?

I thought his analysis was spot-on

Just did a quick scan of some stats

I think you’re right in general, but overstating it a bit. It’s true that most DEs don’t hit their peak production until their second or third season. So I agree with your principle that we can’t kill a guy for not dominating as a rookie.

But there are a few who are great from year one — Freeney had 13 sacks his rookie year and Peppers had 12 in his rookie year, for example. Every two or three years there’s one who comes into the league at that level.

That Gary Brackett penalty was garbage

let alone a fine. He hit the most mobile QB of all time in the chest outside of the pocket a fraction of a second after the ball was released.

Brackett fine is funny.

I kept reading how the Eagles cheated and Coleman deserved a fine for the hit on Collie. I almost laughed out loud when it was Brackett who got the fine. The bandwagon colts fans would shit a brick if they could read about that.

I hope I am wrong, but Kolb is a four-letter word.
