The Linc - Donovan McNabb Nonsense Goes To A New Level
D.C. Sports Bog - Feinstein suggests Shanahan should be fired
McNabb was apparently benched because Shanahan is racist. Can I just repeat how amazingly glad I am we don't have to deal with this?
Vick Has A Legit Shot At MVP - NFL - Yahoo! Sports
Michael Vick has a legitimate shot at being the league MVP. In returning from his rib injury to outduel four-time MVP Peyton Manning in the Eagles’ 26-24 victory over the Colts, Vick looked even better than those terrific 1955 throwback jerseys Indy wore at Lincoln Financial Field. "They were sweet," Eagles tight end Brent Celek agreed via text.

They have somewhat changed the notion of how they want their offense to look. With McCoy replacing the often-injured Brian Westbrook, they have been more willing to lean on their running game - especially out of spread formations. The changes are not seismic but they are noticeable.

Didinger's Eagles Mailbag: Hits Causing Confusion
The officiating in Sunday’s Eagles-Colts game was bad. I’m sure the crew – led by referee Carl Cheffers – will not get high grades when the film is reviewed at the league office. I wouldn’t look for them in the Super Bowl anytime soon.

It's racist
to accuse a white coach of being a racist if he says anything negative about a black QB. This is taking on a whole “nuther” level of stupidity. Andy is the kind of coach who covers for his player’s weaknesses; Shanahan chooses to call his players out. I don’t agree with Shanahan’s style, but racist? Child, please! (as the kids say these days)

Uh...
…the article never says McNabb says it was a racist act. The article, which was written by a guy named Feinstein (which I think it is safe to assume is white and probably Jewish), says that it is racist. McNabb has almost NEVER been the reason for the controversy that plagued his career. Sometimes, for some reason, he would say or do something that would open up the wound a bit, but he never really started any of it.

If you are going to quote...
…don’t be like the media and only pick the part you want. The rest of my quote says
Sometimes, for some reason, he would say or do something that would open up the wound a bit, but he never really started any of it.
He didn’t start the Owens controversy…unless you say lobbying to bring T.O. to Philly equated starting something. This is an example of him not letting it end, just as I said.
My point was only that Owens said the Eagles would be better off with Favre, and McNabb quickly played the race card:
“It was like, it’s unreal,” McNabb said. “That’s like me going out and saying, ’Hey, if we had Steve Largent. If we had Joe Jurevicius. It was definitely a slap in the face to me. It was a slap in the face because, as deep as people want to go into it, it was black-on-black crime.”
While Owens’ Favre quote was uncalled for and stupid, he was not being racist, just an ass. McNabb’s response just really lowered my opinion of him.

I understood your point...
…but mine was that his flaws normally come as a counterpunch…not a lead jab. And after all that he had been through as far as controversy is concerned, why would it lower your opinion of him for firing back once? Even if you back a cute, furry little rabbit into a corner, it’s going to come out biting.
I just took personal offense to what he said, regarding black on black crime, as if skin color somehow can make crime worse. Counterpunch or not, it was pure racism on McNabb’s part. I do agree that he has had an unfair amount of scrutiny since the day he was drafted, and overall, has handled it very well.

Gotcha...
..but I don’t think it was racism. To me, he was highlighting the fact that the two involved were black and that the natural feeling of most people is to stick with what they know. Take your average NFL team. Most of the time, you have black players at the skill positions (WR, RB, LB, DB) while white (and nowadays Samoan lol) people tend to play in the trenches (OL, DL, K, P, FB, TE ( <——-a declining trend)). So you have 53 other players on the team, but if you look at most NFL teams with white QBs, their “best friend” on the team is normally a kicker or an OLineman. All the zoom ins on Peyton Manning during the Eagles game were of him talking to the punter or the kicker. Do I think Peyton is racist? No. However, naturally he is going to gravitate towards what he knows best and is most comfortable with…and in his case, that is other white players.
Don was not really saying that black on black crime is worse from a crime standpoint…just saying that from the normal tendencies of the human race to “stick to your own”, it feels like something that shouldn’t happen.
But I do get your point.
Uh...
The article, which was written by a guy named Feinstein (which I think it is safe to assume is white and probably Jewish), says that it is racist.
That’s what I was referring to.
I love pit-bulls, and I love Vick too. I'm a complicated man.
But I'm saying...
…how is an article written by a white guy racist towards another white guy? Had Jason Cole or Micheal Wilbone said something, you have an argument…but when a white guy says it, it’s not really racism.
I guess I should say "race-baiting"
Playing the race card is an idiomatic phrase that refers to the act of bringing the issue of race or racism into a debate, perhaps to obfuscate the matter. …

I love pit-bulls, and I love Vick too. I'm a complicated man.
But the problem with that is...
…that just because you or I may think that the “race card” is being played just to obscure the matter doesn’t make it true. If it is his opinion that Shanahan benched McNabb for racist reasons, it is just as much his right to voice that opinion as it is yours to think it is the race card. They both are what they are…opinions. But just as you are choosing not to believe it was racist he can choose to believe it was.
It's called "disagreeing"
It’s a fairly new phenomena on message boards, but I have a feeling it’s catching on.
I love pit-bulls, and I love Vick too. I'm a complicated man.
No...it's called accusing.
Not disagreeing. Disagreeing would be “I don’t think Shanahan is racist just by what he did here.” Accusing would be something like, oh let’s say “It’s racist to accuse a white coach of being a racist if he says anything negative about a black QB.”
Get the difference yet?

I hoped he would make it back to us...
I really want a full recovery for him so he can reach his potential. Clay Harbor NEVER impressed me even though, admittedly, he had a good training camp for a rookie. But I think Ingram can excel on this level as a pass catcher in a way that Harbor probably never will.
i think he is back blocking more
however he is screwing up the few chances he is getting. If they had an OL then I am sure he would be putting up the numbers he had the last two years. If Gates was here he would probably be forced to block as well.
That's why we used...
..to go double tight end so much. So we could use one as a pass catcher and one as a blocker. But Avant’s emergence in the slot has made him a more valuable pass catcher than Celek so we opt for 3 WR sets and keep Celek in. If Celek could get the separation he got lost year, I don’t think that would be the case…even with our OLine struggling.
At least this means celek’s blocking has greatly improved. This was something we knew needed to happen this year. I would not be surprised to see him get more involved with the offense the second half of the year though.

For an athlete like Celek...
…blocking should come easy. It’s more of a question of willingness than ability.
