A couple maddening things
I hate how our beloved Eagles, for the past couple of years, ALWAYS give away a couple games. Not only did we give the Redskins one win (although, the refs helped just as much), we gift wrapped a victory to Tennessee. Now instead of being 6-1 we are a mediocre 4-3 and if we lose to Indy we are .500. We are a dominant teams at times and not one single game this season have we've been totally out played or dominated for 4 quarters. In usual Eagles fashion, we just make it tough to make the playoffs.
Secondly, Rush Limbaugh was semi-right. Just like Brett Favre, McNabb is virtually untouchable in the media. I don't think I've ever heard anyone give McNabb some legit criticism. Behind a really bad offensive line I've heard 6 start QB Kevin Kolb get BLASTED by our fans (who really don't know QBs at all) and criticism by the media. Yet, when a 11 year vet struggles behind a bad offensive line it's "McNabb doesn't have a good enough o-line /enough weapons to succeed." Why is McNabb so invincible to criticism?
Last Sunday against the Lions the Redskins took the lead with a KO return. The stopped the Lions and the Lions punted to the Skins... McNabb throws an AWFUL INT deep in the Skins side of the ball which eventually leads to the game winning TD.. And the only thing talked about is the decisiont o BENCH him and how crazy it was. OK, I admit, the call is debatable, but an alledged "HOF QB" who's thrown 7 TDs to 8 ints with a mediocre 76.00 QB rating, he sure doesn't get ANY blame. Oh, and a well below 60% completion. In comparison, Jason Campbell has tossed 6 tds to 4 Ints with a 82 rating in six games. AND HE PLAYS WITH THE OAKLAND RAIDERS!!! Now don't tell me the RAIDERS have MORE talent than the SKins.
Listen, not every team is going to have Larry Fitz, Andre Johnson, or Maclin and Jackson as their weapons. Yet why is it an excuse for McNabb?
ANd please don't tell me MOVE ON. I argued and made my points the entire off season, NOT SO ONCE I WAS PROVED RIGHT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DISAGREED COULD JUST SAY " MOVE ON." Nope, not happening.
And my last minuscule rant is that why does EVERYONE think the AFC is so much better than the NFC? I just watched 2 of the top afc teams get unseated by the NFC.

You can make a strong case
Raiders have two very good running backs – Darren McFadden, consensus Top 5 pick and Michael Bush who would have been a consensus top 10 pick had he not been hurt. McFadden and Bush are better than the Deadskins backs. And btw, I so much wanted the Eagles to draft Bush and stash him on IR for a year. I know Reid doesn’t run and doesn’t really use big backs, but he was so good at Louisville and he would have come cheap.
Wide receivers – Darius Hayward-Bey is showing signs of life. Louis Murphy appears to be pretty good. Is an aging Santana Moss really better than them?
Tight end – Washington may have an advantage.
Offensive line – no question that the Raiders are better.
Let’s face it – the Raiders are actually appearing to be a good team
You were right all of us were wrong

Wrong..
Snyder, Jones and Al Davis..
Snyder wastes money and picks to get washed up players or prima donas that never live up to their price tag(thus helping the eagles)
Jones has driven a “superbowl favorite” team into the ground, thus helping the eagles out..
Al Davis took DHB allowing us to get Monster Maclin, not to mention all the stupid shit he’s done to help us…

So you’re pounding your chest because mcnabb isn’t playing well? New coach, new scheme, and fewer weapons. I don’t like defending a Redskin, but he hasn’t exactly been set-up for success where he is. And the team is still 4-4 in a wide open NFC.
Past that, wasn’t the other 1/2 of your argument about Kolb?? Why aren’t you talking about that “prediction” of yours? Did you predict and KNOW that Kolb would be riding pine behind Vick??
I am OK with us getting rid of McNabb. And you obviously are too…..but if you really think that you should get credit, even though the pieces didn’t fall where you or any of us expected them to, then you’re crazy. Vick our starting QB? Come on. Things worked out, but NO ONE had scripted that.

That’s my point. When mcnabb was traded, it was a ‘kolb vs mcnabb’ debate. BGN was split 50/50. You led the anti-mcnabb/pro-kolb arguments, and myself and others opposed.
In the end, mcnabb is gone, but kolb isn’t starting either. All of the “he’ll hit passers in stride” and make our receivers better nonsense isn’t even mentioned anymore. Wasn’t that one of your leading points back then? Give Kolb the team and be amazed at what a typical WCO QB can do?
If the Eagles were still going with Kolb, and we were 2-5, would you still be thumping your chest
I’m just saying that things DID work out, but its far from what you initially argued for.

1. He’s a backup. He had the chance for this to be his team, and he lost it. His stats are 2nd best on this team.
2. No matter his stats, it didn’t turn out to be what you argued for. Doesn’t that take SOME validity from your argument?? “Start the backup!!! He’s better suited for this offense!”. Blah blah blah.

I said from the start that McNabb to Washington made no sense
precisely because that team is devoid of offensive weapons and good defensive players – they needed that 37pick. McNabb to DC was yet another one of Daniel Snyder’s short term fixes which won’t fix the underlying problems with his team.
Of course, I’m an Eagles fan so I love to see Snyder shoot his team in its foot.
Will you ever not talk about McNabb?

1) The Raiders DO have more talent than the Redskins.
2) Didn’t McNabb get shit from the media when he puked during the Superbowl? Kolb blows
McNabb was good on a team with some sort of supporting cast.
Vick is our best option for winning now of all three.
But when he leaves, Kolb will still blow. Because you can’t coach a spaghetti strap for a throwing arm.
PS – The Riley Cooper play still makes me laugh real hard.
McNabb was benched for a myriad of strange reasons...
…half-explained by a confused old man.
Kolb was benched because he sucks when the pressure is on.
Pretty easy to understand. Kolb’s passer rating in the last 2 minutes of a half is 20. That’s fucking abysmal. Coach’s son or not, he is not “clutch.”

Ok, well...
McNabb was going to hit his downside at some point. The idea behind trading him was not to extend his contract, because an extension would force the Eagles to suffer the effects of his decline and lose their investment in Kolb. The idea behind trading him to the Redskins was that the combination of his decline and his lack of offensive weapons (which could be expected to continue since he was being traded to a team that had depleted its draft picks for guess what, more draft picks) would reduce his ability to be a threat. The Eagles figured that by Week 1, they would have more talent than the Redskins. Which did come true, but what wins the games isn’t talent but execution (and besides, it was a close game, and you can’t say that McNabb won it for the Redskins or Kolb lost it for the Eagles).
According to his play so far, does McNabb seem to have hit the steep part of his downside? Yes (although not having many offensive weapons may play a part there too). Conversely, though, what about Kolb? He looked better than Vick in pre-season and Reid named him the starter. Then he got injured immediately in Week 1 and Vick came in on fire. I’m not going to go into the whole “did Kolb get shafted?” debate, but the basic facts are these: overall, Vick has played better than Kolb, and if Kolb’s current level of play is truly “as good as he gets”, most people are probably more comfortable with Vick as the starter. Of course the presence of Vick reduced the risk factor of going from McNabb to Kolb (as did the presence of DeSean, Maclin, Avant, and Celek)
So… is Kolb this year looking better than McNabb this year? Probably so.
Is Kolb this year looking better than McNabb last year? I doubt it.
Is Kolb this year looking better than Vick this year? Nope.
So to conclude… if you look at McNabb’s stats the gamble of trading him seems to have paid off, but part of the reason why it did (and was less of a gamble) was that Vick was still here. But what hasn’t been proven, in my opinion, is that Kolb is able to put together a decade of winning seasons in Philly the way McNabb did.

Well written. You more accurately put my feelings to words than I did above.
Essentially, we were bailed out by Vick, and there’s no way Jody writes this if the Eagles are 3-4 or worse.
This didn’t go according to plan, so for anyone to take the “I was right, you were wrong,” stance is just laughable.
The funniest thing is that whether we fought “pro-mcnabb” or “pro-kolb” back in the off-season, the ONLY thing that we all agreed on was the Vick would NOT be the starting QB. We blog-raped any of the “idiots” that suggested that. Who knew…..

BTW I vote Green In Baltimore as the dumbest poser on BGN by a land slide
Jibta was at least funny. Funny as in a clown. GIB is just sad, sad like, he can’t help that his mom and dad had combined IQs of 70 and thus their offspring came out dumber than a box of hammers. GUys like GIB have had no chance at life. If there was a charity for people born dumb for people like Green in Baltimore I would absolutely donate. If I could go back in time I would donate sperm to his mother so he would at least have half a brain.
Remember when people like Green in Baltimore used to say “McNabb was the QB who could win and play so well without any talent?” Well, he has less talent and he’s playing like shit.. So when he wins hes the guy who can do it all, when he loses it’s NEVER his fault EVER.
And since this is the conclusion GIB came to (which I knew all the pro mcnabb guys would) we can finally say GIB and people like him are true fucking morons.
I ask that not anyone make fun of GIB for being dumb, it’s not his fault, it’s an illness

First of all, I already agreed about McNabb, twice now. He sucks this year; he has played terribly thus far. I’m far happier with Vick and slightly happier with Kolb than I would be with Donny this year. I really don’t see why that got dragged into this comment too.

I really don’t care, its just kinda sad that you can’t have a conversation — even on the internet — without being a total hot-headed jackass. Even worse is that you’re not a young guy. You gotta grow up.
You’re right Joe, we do deserve the crap media gives us — so many of our fans are total dicks.
Got rational behavior? ...apparently not.

I Rec'd you DeSean
I feel like Joe was capable of holding conversations up until the end of last season. He has become the Mel Gibson of this blog showing he cannot control his emotions. Joe – you really need to, like, masterbate or something.
We get it, you were right all along. I think my main point back when you started this long tirad last season was that McNabb wasn’t always bad. He was on the decline last year and obviously this year but he was a good QB for us many years and brought us a lot of success. Every person declines with age when it comes to professional sports. Congratulations that you were able to predict it sooner than others. I still don’t believe we need to discredit everything he did for our organization and the community.

Hi Joe,
I’m a 28 year old mortgage banker with a beautiful wife, good family, a wide portfolio of rental properties, and a reasonable point of view of the Eagles and their off-season moves. (Not to mention the stunning good looks! LOL.)
Proof in the pudding. I like where i am.
I respect the opinions that you have….its just your delivery and blatant disregard for opposing opinions that I dont respect.
You also put a quote up there that I supposedly said. Where did you pull that from?
I feel that i have maintained a level head in all of my “McNabb” arugments on here. I even put ALL of my thoughts on here in 1 nice, and tidy post a while back.

By no means have i ever said that i worshipped the ground that McNabb walked on, and if you go back and read the words that i ACTUALLY wrote on the topic, you’ll note that my main point was that i took issue giving up on a KNOWN entity, vs. rolling the dice with an UNKNOWN.
THAT was all that i have ever stood up and said. I’ve never once said “Kolb will never succeed.” I have simply stated that i (and this isnt just for the football team…this is the way i am with ALL things in my life) do not particuarly like change. I liked McNabb being our QB. I liked the good and the bad, because that is what i was used to. And i also liked being perennial contenders. McNabb gave us that for a long time. (Insert never won a SB joke here.)
So with that said, Joe….can you really look at this situation and claim victory? Beyond being the biggest McNabb hater, you were the biggest Kolb enthusiast. And how is that working out thus far? He’s back on the pine, and the never-woulda-thunk-it move happened; Michael Vick is our starting QB. You and I jointly called people dumb when they mentioned Vick to be the starter. Look where we sit now….
And to be more direct to the ridicuously ignorant post that you just wrote. Go fuck yourself.

Oh and by the way, Joe.
The correct cliche you were trying to use is “dumber than a sack (or bag) of hammers.” Not a box. Love when a guy calling me dumb, makes an error in the same sentence.
