SEAN, BE YOUR OWN MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

sure he is the heir to the late jj. But just because jj was good at what he did does not mean sean will make the right calls using the same scheme.

The nfl is a changing. Players are getting bigger and stronger. Why do you think most teams prefer a 3-4 defense? All the best defenses have one. Consider this. 3 300lb lineman atleast. and then 4 250-270lb lbs. Thats the force you need to stop o-lines and rbs these days. Not to mention tes. Look at vernon davis, finely, gates. All black super athletes who toss around our linebackers cuz we are so gimpy.  Sure speed kills, but it doesn't matter if you can't use that speed if you are being held up cuz you dont have enough strength to shed a block.

Another important thing is that defense play calling is all probability. Nothing more than that. sure the players have to execute but it comes down to choosing the right call and more or less getting lucky. sean doesn't know how to fucking do this. For example, the whole asante playing man v man vs britt. jj always had good-great cb dous so i wasnt that much of a loss from lcb to rcb. Another thing. jj occasionally dropped des into coverage (ie parker picked off the 49ers 3 years ago for a pick six). but sean doesnt know what hes doing. He is putting brandon graham in coverage. A fucking rookie against the likes of vernon davis. WTF is that. He had jordan rush the passer while graham covered davis and got beat on a simple out route.

FUCK YOU SEAN. BE YOUR OWN MAN

Importance of DBs in this "Scheme"

I don’t know if people (including the FO) know how important the DBs are to JJs (and now McDs) defensive scheme. The big reason this used to work was purely because of personel. Dawkins, Vincent, Lito, Brown. All of these guys were Pro bowlers and had specific skills that made this defensive scheme dominant. Once you take out those players and replace them by totally different personel, then you have to change the scheme. That is the number one reason why this defense is getting expose right now….

And for run defense?

What’s caused the drop-off there?

Sean's done a good job at times and he's had a few mistakes at times...

Johnson coached from 1967 til 2009… and was a DC for 10 years, and had years and years and years of experience before that…

McDermotts good, damn good.. He just needs the experience… Once he’s seen most of what’s going to be thrown at him I think he’ll be better than JJ, and he’s putting his own stamp on the D too.

I think he’ll be better than JJ,

You my boy WE, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. He could be a good coordinator, could be a solid, but saying that he WILL be better than JJ is expecting to birth the next president.

And no he isn’t putting his own stamp on the D, cause quite frankly, there is no stamp on the D right now. I made a post about this a few days back, McD has no identity yet and needs to figure out how he wants to do things.

3 300lb lineman atleast. and then 4 250-270lb lbs. Thats the force you need to stop o-lines and rbs these days.

We’ve done really well against RBs. This year and last year, we’ve been pretty good against the run. TE’s have caused us a problem for a while…and not just the black ones, it’s really more a positional thing than a racial one…but anyway…

Yes, our defense needs to step it up…and a lot of that falls on Sean, so I’m with you there.

I’m not sure a 3-4 is superior to a 4-3 at all. We had this conversation at one point last year, and it looked pretty even statistically. Yes, this year the Jets and Steelers defenses look awesome, but there’s a lot more to them than their base scheme.

Brandon Graham was a guy really touted as looking more like a 3-4 OLB, than an NFL 4-3 DE. We went after him b/c of his pass rush ability, but if he had been drafted by a 3-4 team and lined up as an OLB, he would at some point be responsible to cover a TE, so it’s not outside of his expected skill set, so trying it out isn’t a terrible idea (continuing to do it would probably be terrible). Davis and Finley are not your normal TEs, but it should be noted that Finley didn’t light us up (4 catches 47 yards)…

Not often

but he does drop into coverage at times. He’s capable of it. Spencer drops a lot more often than Ware b/c Ware’s so valuable as a pass rusher, but he does play coverage at times.

Maybe if I would have waited till this week to make it, people would have had more say on it.

Dude… I can’t even imagine that… That’s 10 Jason Peters(s) combined… I don’t know how successful he’d be in opening running lanes, though.

Got rational behavior? ...apparently not.
