Why Mike Bell got traded
JasonB just posted a link to an article on csnphilly.com by Ray Didinger. I read it going in disappointed with our special teams and after finishing I am ecstatic that the Eagles got rid of Mike Bell. He is a loser and I will tell you why.
Ted Ginn is a very good returner and really took advantage of our bad coverage all night. I however felt there was a severe lack of effort, not a lack of talent or coaching. One that stuck out to me was the opening kickoff I believe when Lindley "chased down" Ginn. He jogged for about 40 yards on a ginormous angle. The lack of effort was obvious. And this is from a rookie...he should be pumped!
The one kickoff that the article really stressed was the last kickoff by the Birds.
Akers gave it a nice boot and well this is how it unfolded:
Gaither had a shot at Ginn but missed. Coleman was pancaked. Jordan slipped and fell like a klutz.
Ginn then reversed field coming back to the side where Bell had responsibility. But him being the chicken shit that
he is decided to stay blocked by a rookie for 5.9 seconds. Yes 5.9 seconds. That is a great block in pass coverage
for an interior lineman. Bell stayed blocked on the opposite side of the field on a kickoff return for 5.9 seconds. I just
can't get over that. And well, the Eagles obviously couldn't either when they traded him yesterday for Jerome
Harrison. Great job Roseman!
Also, Gaither sucks. Cut him now. He isn't even good on specials anymore.

Gaither is only good
if he has a clear shot at a runner. Hard tackler, but that’s about it. We do need really depth at MLB. Bradley needs one full year after surgery to get going.
We should cut Gaither and work on a good backup.
....Is on the Vick Bus, which oddly enough looks like a dog catchers truck!

This is a resurrection
I'm back from the dead
They told me quit a long time ago
But I conquered instead
I had dreams and visions
Swirling around in my head
I had this hunger deep inside of me
That has to be fed
Possibly picking up Merriman?
Do you think that Merriman would be a good project pick up once he comes off of IR from the Chargers? I mean he’s done the SD and would probably be a good project LB considering he’s not what he used to be. Maybe we can get a guy who needs a change of scenery that might pick his game up again. Just wondering.

no need for backup LB
We have Jamar Chaney, rookie MLB out of miss state. very fast will be able to cover tight ends consistently in a couple years if he adds some muscle. Gaither has one year on his contract so i expect him gone after the season and maybe sooner the better Chaney looks in practive

Won't be a lockout
Both sides don’t want to lose any money. But some veterans wouldn’t mind it because a year off would help them, physically. They’ve got to have a rookie wage scale, the NBA has it right (even though the guaranteed contracts are totally stupid). Merriman would be good for leadership but some other team will overpay for him. I think his leg is actually in pretty bad shape.
Ok..
There wont be a lockout, to much money involved for both sides..
Rookie wage scale should just be a 5% rise from the previous years slot’s contract..
Merriaman isnt good for leadership, he was never a leader.. And his leg’s in shitty shape, I think his knee caused more problems than everyones letting on, I dont even think the most desperate of teams will look his way.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
