Comcast Red Zone stat of the week - Eagles/Cowboys part 2
The Eagles "stat of the week" is brought to you by Comcast and the new NFL Red Zone channel
The stat of the week comes from ESPN's John Clayton and is about what usually happens the second time the Eagles play the Cowboys.
The Eagles have beaten the Cowboys in eight of the teams' past nine second meetings. Six of those games were played in December.
Here's to that becoming 9 of 10!
Comcast is carrying the new NFL Red Zone channel. NFL Red Zone lets you follow all the red zone action on NFL Sunday as it happens. When a team gets inside the twenty, the network cuts to that game. It's a fantasy player's dream.
They don't ever break for commercials and the action literally never stops. They don't just limit it to red zone trips either... I was watching last weekend and they would show any game live if no team happened to be in the red zone. This is probably the best thing ever invented for an NFL fan that's looking for something to flip to when the Eagles game goes to commercials...
Best of all, you see this all in HD.

I'm terrified of stats like that
It seems like every time I hear a stat like that about the Eagles we go out and get walloped. I think I heard a stat like that about McNabb’s record against the Giants going into the game when he got sacked 12 times. Just seems like tempting fate.
Let the beasting begin.

I've got a good feeling about today
I feel like we have more of an identity than the first time we played them … were gonna take em today
I'm extremely nervous today
Cowboys are playing good football (even though it came against the struggling Saints, and the awful Redskins). I just do not have a good feeling!! In Andy I trust!!!
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Here's how I'm looking at it
The first round of the playoffs is double-elimination for the Eagles. They need to win either this week or next to get through to the second round.
With that being said, I’m definitely rooting for the Giants in the early games, because if they win it ensures that the double-elimination round won’t consist of two games against the Cowboys.
Kinda the same thing i have beesaying all week. today is a “2 for 1” game. Win today, and get a free pass to rd 2.
Look at another way too, though. The winner of this game will be guaranteed at least 1 home game. The loser nearly guaranteed NO home games.
This game is our roadmap to the superbowl….Best case, a win gets us 2 home games. Worst case, a loss gets us 3 road games.
This game is huger than huge.

I am a little nervous with a stat that i just read…
In 2008, our 2nd meeting with an opponent, we gave up significantly less points. Jim Johnson knew how to adjust.
In 2009, our 2nd meeting with an opponent, we’ve given up more points. Significantly more to the giants, and another TD against the hapless redskins.
Can Sean McD makes the right adjustments today???
That said, i still think that special teams will be the deciding factor today….field position, turnovers, TD’s, and penalties. I dont think the kicking teams will win the game for either…but i do think that one can lose the game.

no i saw it. My concern is the JJ factor vs Sean McD factor. That history tracks all JJ history vs. an unknown Sean McD present.

It does seem weird how many of them tend to make their over here.
Let the beasting begin.
