Good articles

700 Level is right, that Gonzalez column in the Inky is just painful to read – a lazy mashup of myths and fanning the flames for those who feel they are owed something.

I laughed at the first part of the Gonzalez article. I compare my Eagles fandom to an addiction all the time (not meaning to make light of drug/alcohol/gambling addictions) because every year I’m crushed at the end of the season and like “f*** that, I’m done with this s***. Why do I care so much?” And then a week later, when Dallas is also eliminated, I’m like “ooohhh…it’s almost draft/training camp/etc.”

But calling to boycott the Eagles? Sorry John, that’s not what real fans do. I think it’s perfectly ok to be mad at/criticize/second guess the team. But to not support them is the antithesis of being a fan.

Maybe there comes a point where that’s ok. I’ve said on here before I’m a big Orioles fan. A group of fans led by the Baltimore equivalent of WIP led a boycott against them 2 years ago. I didn’t really agree with it, but I see their point. But despite the lack of championships, there is a HUGE difference between a team like the Orioles, or the Lions, or the Browns, and the Eagles.

Yeah, I could almost see doing something like that if you were a fan of the Pirates, but not the Eagles. I’d rather have a team that’s “cheap” than have a team run by an idiot like Dan Snyder who jumps to overpay every big name out there.

EvilBanner...

needs to be referred to that 700 Level article. Then again, it probably won’t make a difference to him anyway…

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

By the way, the Bills reportedly hired Chan Gailey. Think about that next time you’re going to complain about the Eagles’ FO.

just wow .... wow
Wayne Hawkins is no stranger to putting his body on the line for the team. Having missed only four games in his 10-year career with the Oakland Raiders during the 1960s, Hawkins has paid a price for his on-the-field sacrifices, which included returning to play one week after being knocked into a coma for 12 hours. Today, at age 71, he suffers from dementia as well as knee and shoulder problems. Hawkins receives a monthly pension payment from the NFL, says his wife, Sharon, in the amount of $201.36

That's just pathetic

These guys at least deserve some type of medical plan to take care of the long term affects. Minimally you would think that there would be a medical plan to treat long term football related injuries.

Sometimes it's just fun to take the family for a spin around the lake in the old boat. Even if it's not your family or your boat, and they're screaming for you to stop.

addicted to losing

a lot of what gonzalez said was true… a lot was just plain crap… what was true in my opinion is the problems the eagles have… notably reid’s poor game coaching (addiction to the pass and poor clock management) and mcnabbs’s miniscule brain make it painful to root for the team… they are not cheap and the desire to win is there but there is no willingness (courage) to move forward to do so… with the exception of those who still think mcnabb is a good qb in spite of all the endless bonehead plays… three and outs… dirt balls and dumb assed statements… most people who follow the team recognize that reid needs shock threapy to cure his addictions (passing and smoke and mirrors defense)…obviously he dosen’t learn from experience and more importantly mcnabb needs a ticket out of town… to change the subject a little, i watched the highlight reel for the cfl running back the eagles just signed… on every run that’s shown he had a hole as wide as reid’s ass to run through… his chance of contributing on the eagles is between slim and none considering the eagles line dosen’t open holes… its not in their job description… here’s hoping for better things to come… a good start will be a first (or 2 and 3) for mcidiot!!!!
