Eskin on Kolb/McNabb via PFT
I'm not sure I even want to weigh in on this, just passing it on to BGN so you guys can slice and dice it. Personally, I think this is textbook Florio and Eskin, just trying to rile up the fanbase for the purpose of riling up the fanbase. So get your clicks on it here and not there, I guess.
They're reaching for something ... anything ... to run McNabb out of town, and while there are a few legitimate arguments to why you might prefer Kolb, most of the anti-McNabb is based on a history of not getting it done in the past that has very little bearing on his potential to get it done in the future, if surrounded by a healthy, confident, complete team. I'm not sure why, as a fanbase, we're so eager to make a major change to a team that's on the brink, especially when having two capable QBs on the roster is almost always preferable to having one.
Eskin's "evidence" is a bit of a reach, IMHO. But it's probably not a bad thing, and especially if those young guys got a lot of work in with Kolb and find him approachable and expect to be playing alongside him for years, I'd take it as a positive for the Birds.
As I've said before, Reid/Lurie/Banner have never given much indication that they plan to part with McNabb at any time other than after the 2010 season, but if the right package were offered, the Birds are famous for cutting the cord earlier rather than later, with very few misjudgements along the way. No one could say we haven't given McNabb several runs at it, but I think it'd be a shame not to try once more with this roster.
I guess I did want to weigh in. PFT after the jump:
Report: Young Eagles looking to Kolb, not McNabb, for advice Posted by Mike Florio on January 18, 2010 11:04 PM ETAs all eyes in Philly are fixed on whether the Eagles will be trading quarterback Donovan McNabb, there's a new piece of evidence indicating that the future might be now for the team's quarterback of the future.
Howard Eskin of WIP radio and NBC Philadelphia recently has reported that, during the 2009 season, young offensive players were going to Kevin Kolb for advice on the sidelines before approaching McNabb.
Of course, this says nothing about the organization's opinions of McNabb and/or Kolb, but it's definitely a factor in the question of whether the powers-that-be believe Kolb is ready to be the kind of leader that a franchise quarterback needs to be.
So stay tuned.

I hate that "the media"
is a term that groups organizations with standards on sourcing, et. al., with a website that “reports” via a “rumor mill.”
I think Florio’s stuff was at its functional best when it was the place GMs would leak details to, but now that he’s with NBC, it seems like he makes some pretty desperate attempts to incite the trolls and drive traffic. I actually have to stay away for fear of being sucked into the mindless yammering.
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
agree whole heartedly
i try not to believe a lot i hear on major news sites like nbc cbs abc ETC.

Eskin is on the side lines
And this doesnt surprise me. I would go to Kolb too if McNabb threw me under the bus
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
It's official
Nothing is more official than a memo from the Radio Broadcast Department of Making Stuff Up.
This is a bunch of horse manure!
I HATE Eskin… he is a stuttering, mumbling, terrible radio host! I listen to 610 almost all day long, but as soon as the clock turns to 3:00, I change the station. I can’t stand him.
Same goes for Florio. I like when he reports factual information, but as soon as he does something like this or passes along his opinion, I stop reading.
Did Eskin even back this claim up with anything?
I have no problem with young players going to kolb...
he’s building that leadership, I want to see him grow with this young team we have.
thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro
Eskin ran Randall and Iverson out of Philly
Plus, HOWARD WAS A JIMMY JOHNSON/DION SANDERS COWBOY FAN!! He jumped on board with the Eagles when Andy Reid turned the ship around! He gets a FREE PASS in this city!
eskin is a dope...
his ratings are dropping and he’s desperate for attention now that mikey miss took over fm. this is nonsense.
