Donovan McNabb likely headed to pro bowl
With wins by the Vikings and Saints this weekend, at least one of Drew Brees or Brett Favre will be going to the superbowl. Both were pro bowlers this year, and since that game is held the week before the Superbowl this year, one won't be playing and the first alternate will be named to the team to play in his place.
The first alternate is Donovan McNabb. So unless he declines the invitation, this will be McNabb's sixth pro bowl.
Sheldon Brown, who is a second alternate, also has a shot to be named to the team after Arizona CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie may have torn knee ligaments in his team's loss over the weekend.

Unless there is some injury we don't know about
He’ll play. McNabb is not one to decline a Pro Bowl invitation.
Well, as least McNabb get to throw to DeSean Jackson one more time before he is traded!
Lmao, sorry, had to. Don’t want to start a debate or anything.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
YOU SHOULDNT BE SAYING THAT WE LOVE DMAC WE WANT HIM NEXT YEAR
just kidding. ha.
The Eagles WILL redeem themselves in the '10-'11 season, with a win at SuperBowl 45 in Dallas!

No, they changed the rule
to the highest seeded loser of the divisional round
Reid- Best Coach in Eagles History
McNabb- Best QB in Eagles History
This is the year
Since the Pro Bowl got moved the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl
I guess…..I too just learned about it today.
That’s…..dumb. Just really dumb.
Does NFL dislike the quote “don’t fix what isn’t broken” or something?
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
I guess it's too hard to get a coach to coach the Pro Bowl on 7 days notice...
…my only explanation. They should at least give the 7 day turnaround a try.
Fire Andy Reid
it dosen't matter
who coaches him… he’ll still be a bonehead… if i’m not wrong, the last ime mcmoron played in the pro bowl he was awful… in fact as i remember it was embarassing… must have been the poor team he had around him… must have been all the injuries… must have sumpthn’

The cockroaches
scatter when they see the light.
Reid- Best Coach in Eagles History
McNabb- Best QB in Eagles History
This is the year
Please explain
how McNabb going to the Pro Bowl makes his trade value higher?
What should worry the Eagles is that with the Jets making the AFC Title game with a rookie QB, following on with Flacco last year and Ryan looking good that teams know they can win with a rookie QB – so who needs a veteran QB (yes the Vikings did but that was the Childress connection).
The Eagles will get offers for Kolb and the GM has a tough call to make – do you give McNabb one last chance or is it time to move on.

how did matt stafford do?
or josh freeman?
or matt ryan this year?
or flacco this year?
would u trust matt leinart next year if warner retires?
would u trust tav jackson or sage if favre gives it up again?
who is going to start for the browns next season?
is matt hasselbeck going to be healthy enough to throw a pass next season?
who would bet on anyone thinking that ryan fitzpatrick is the answer in buffalo?
do you think jason campbell is the future of the redskins?
who the hell knows whats going to that batshit crazy mind of al davis? id bet its not starting bruce gradkowsky next season opener.
how much longer will bulger be in st louis?
with all of these questions (first 4 directed to teams drafting and starting rookies) regarding the qb position, i am glad that the eagles are in the position that they are in, having such a surplus of talent at the qb position where the grass is always greener during the offseason
I absolutely decline to offer my opinion on or read any posts about the McNabb v. Kolb debacle. Those posts never end and I choose to sit back and wait to see what happens. This is going to be a long offseason.
Why not list all his
player of the week awards!
Interestingly enough Eli had better a better QB rating, better TD to Int ratio, better comp % and nearly the same average per attempt.
So Eli is worth more in a trade than McNabb plus he is younger.
by G Fan in England on Jan 18, 2010 5:39 PM EST up reply actions
No
I am just trying to say that the way the league is going ie towards young QB’s (Henne at the Dolphins is another one) that the market for veteran QB’s is very limited.
The Browns, Seahawks and Bills have new coaches who will be given time to suceed in which case they draft for their QB for years to come – not take an old guy.
McNabb for whatever reason has not got the Eagles over the hurdle despite all his chances the last decade.
A team built to win now wants a QB that will get them over the hurdle and McNabb has not shown he can do that.
This is no knock on McNabb just because he is an Eagle, more trying to see it as a GM or Coach thinking I am nailing my flag to his mask to keep my job!
by G Fan in England on Jan 18, 2010 5:52 PM EST up reply actions
So what you're saying is...you're ready to trade Eli?
I don’t think the G-men are offering. If either is on the block, it’s likely to be McNabb.
glad for Sheldon Brown
of course, it sucks that such a young talented player in Cromartie is gunna have to do rehab and w.e but I’m happy for Brown
He really turned his level of play up after what happened in the offseason… He got a career high in INT’s, played all 16 games again, despite being pretty injured down the stretch, and may have earned himself his first pro bowl game
we had 44-6
you had 58-14
now we want an eagles SuperBowl win in Dallas next season
This means the Eagles now have more Pro Bowlers than the cowboys!
LOLZ.

i seem to recall this being dhani jones' thing
and it seems like mcnabb’s play of late has been about as effective as dhani jones’ was
McNabb was okay
Until the final 10 quarters of the season and the wheels just came off this offense. Couldn’t do anything.
Your right this was one of Mr. Bowtie’s patented moves. One of the many reasons I wasn’t a fan.
I don't think there's fair judgement here
No blame goes to the offensive line, play-calling (little running game), etc.?

pro bowl
I do not see how mcnabb should be going to the pro bowl unless they need someone to hold tablet on the sideline. He is the most overrated quarterback in the league and I want the nfc to win I dont want someone in there that will choke. I hope he declines thinvitation.
all i can say is
you are a goddamn moron. I don’t care if McNabb has a good game, I don’t care if he has a bad game. In fact, I don’t care at all who wins. Okay?
This game doesn’t matter, why are you using this as another attempt to slam him?

The only thing I root for in a Pro Bowl
is an entertaining football game.
Fire Andy Reid - From horrible clock management to wasted timeouts to using the pass to set up the pass, he is one of the worst gameday coaches in the league.
And for no Eagle to get injured

I think the most overrated QB in the NFC at least is Eli Manning.

Why do
you think he is over rated?
I think he is a very good fit for how the Giants want to play football – he may not be a good fit for the Eagles, but then again McNabb would not be a good fit for the Giants.
Eli is a good QB who had a good season despite the carnage of a defence which meant he was put in obivious passing situations.
I would not say he is better than Peyton, Brees, Romo and even people like Schaub.

OFFICAL NEWS SPREAD THE WORD
DONOVAN MCNABB WILL BE TRADED TO THE BALTIMORE RAVENS FOR A 2ND, 3RD, 5TH AND QB TROY SMITH AFTER THE SUPERBOWL
troy is not that good i rather have vick then smith
Desean Jackson- Im Number 1, the real deal, The 1(0)ne to Watch.
Interview while at Cal.
I heard the same thing, but instead of McNabb...
…it was Kolb going to the Ravens for some authentic Maryland crab cakes and a throwback Cal Ripken Jr. jersey.
...But if he pulls the rug on his quarterback, Reid must do it knowing that he let McNabb down more than McNabb ever let him down.
Phil Sheridan--Philadelphia Inquirer
Whenever Banner rocks his throwback #8...
…I will applaud him for his shrewd player personnel skills.

Good For Him
Another chance for me to take shots at the McNabb haters. Did Phillip Rivers choke in Big games? His playoff Recd is nothing to write home about, couldn’t even beat a rookie QB, this is the idiotic rationale I always hear about McNabb. I’m glad he’s going to his 6th pro bowl, and for the idiots saying McNabb should decline the invitation, it just shows that the underlining reason for hating him has a bit to do with the color of his skin. Why in the world would anyone want a professional football player to decline an invitation to the pro bowl? (unless they are playing in the SB). Many people don’t want success for McNabb and that’s a shame, you guys whine when he smiles, you bitch about the way he celebrates before the game and then complain that he’s accepting a pro bowl invitation? Seriously? You guys are pathetic, anyone that has a problem with him playing in Miami needs to get a freaking life.
For the last time, there are no McNabb haters, people simply don't share your blind devotion to the guy.
Are you stupid? This will be Mcnabbs 6th probowl.. I think your the only moron in need of removing your blinders.
And yet the team was eliminated by back to back losses vs the cowboys in games where they could not move the ball offensively.
How did your boy Rivers do against a rookie QB?
Using your Rationale Payton Manning will also be dismissed as a chump, he is below 500 in the playoffs thus cannot lead the Eagles. You’re the moron my friend as clearly stated by Qu1nter. No QB could lead this years Eagles deep in the playoffs. They simply didn’t have the personnel this year (too much injury), but morons like you blame it on McNabb. I have no blind devotion towards anyone but people like you seems to find the slightest reason to blame #5, and I will continue to call you out when you do. The standards applied to McNabb by folks like you is unattainable, what has Phillip Rivers done in the post season? using your rationale, I suppose Sanchez is better than Rivers since his team won? I guess Sanchez can win big games and Rivers can’t?
Id trade Mcnabb and a 1st for Rivers
Rivers >>>>>>>>>>>>> Mcnabb
by Team Serbia on Jan 19, 2010 10:57 AM EST up reply actions
yes the TEAM was eliminated..
too bad mcnabb could supply pressure from his position at LE. or stop the run. Too bad he couldnt stop pressure from getting to himself from his position of C and RG and RT and LG
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.
Too bad he threw dirt balls even when he had plenty of time, too bad he missed receivers even when he had plenty of time, too bad he killled so many drives and left our defense hanging.

its hard to believe
as truly awful as mcnabb is people can find ways to defend him… no one in his right mind would want to have him as their qb in a clutch situation… he is the greg norman of football… all ego and swagger on thursday, friday and saturday and no game on sunday… it’s time to get rid of mcnabb and get reid to shock therapy to … cure his pass addiction… focus on a power defense… build a varied power running game… and use the pass effectively…

Does anyone know who the first alternate is before Sheldon?
I dont know what it is about your face,

but I just wanna deliver one of these right in your suck hole.
It better not be that fuck Jenkins.

i think it is
Jenkins is a good corner. But i wish it was Sheldon going in. Maybe Woodson will get “injured”.
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.
Choke Artists this past weekend, this should be much more fresh in your mind then the EAGLES ( not just Mcnabb) getting beat twice to end our season….
Phillip Rivers
Tony Romo ( as usual)
Joe Flacco
Kurt Warner
Hmm well thats half the teams in the playoffs.. They basically choked their way out
Actually SD and NYJ was a great game but still they had a shot…
The Mcnabb haters would surely call this a choke so i will stick with it
Yeah
If McNabb threw that pick that set up the Jets’ go-ahead touchdown, he would be torn to pieces by the media
stupid Philly media
sometimes i wish i was apathetic of this team and they suffered a Raider like drought after McNabb retires or gets traded.
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.
Really Mc Nabb?
How can you send him to the pro bowl ? Is that where they send Qb that choke big games and then smile while there over throwing wide open rec. or drop snaps that go in for 6 . Or better yet throw up before the super bowl cause ??? you have nerves of steal a real pro bowler… Aww Yaa and screw Dallas how great was that to watch the cow girls get there asses handed to them ..Hmmmm I wonder if Farve ever threw up before a big game lol
you right on...
mcnabb’s a complete bonehead… all swagger and no results when it counts… yes, it would be taking a chance to get rid of him but ‘its better to take a chance and win than sit on your ass and get the same old crap… one thing is absolutely certain… mcvomit will never elevate the play of his team… that’s his job and he can not do it… all the apologists with their imbecile stats know he’s a fool… i for one would rather have a qb leading the team i root for that can hit receiver in stride.. is accountable… commands respect… and has a brain… give kolb a chance…

Mc Nabb is a good guy dont get me wrong
It just gets a little old watching the eagles getting close bet never getting that ring ..Of coarse its not all Mc Nabbs fault but he is a huge part of the out come more that any other person on the field and if you throw interceptions or drop snaps that can cost you a season and it did again …And as far as being rushed and not having help ….He had time in the pocket and just threw bad passes and if not a good QB should be able to run when needed to not throw the ball out of bounds or dive before the first down marker … I want somebody that will kill to get in the end zone DAMMIT …….WIN ONE FOR Philly already BLEED GREEN OR DIE TRYING ……………..
no matter who
mcnabb winds up playing for, they’re doomed… I’d rather it’s not the eagles.
