Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

My view on the past, present, and future

Past:

I would like to start this part of my post by reviewing the "Andy Reid" era. Although the past ten years have been the best ten years of Eagles football, near the top in wins for the decade and making a Super Bowl, we still did not make the ultimate goal of being the Super Bowl champions. So I guess if I was going to label it I would say successful but disappointing.

Another part of our past that i would like to talk about is a trade that may have either doomed us for the next five or so years or set us up for greatness for the next ten or so years. This trade was the Eagles trading their first round pick to Dallas for their second, third, and fifth round pick. These picks turned into Anthony Spencer for Dallas and Kevin Kolb, Stewart Bradley, and C.J, Gaddis for Philly. Now we know the story about our guys Kolb has looked good, and I am high on him, but who really knows what he will be in the future for sure, we all like Bradly ,and I think will not only come back healthy but play well,  but he has not exactly been a dominant player at this point in his career, and obviously Gaddis ... well I honestly almost forgot we drafted him lol. Now Spencer, while having a pretty average year, was part of a Dallas defense that totally dominated us. If Kevin Kolb doesn't become the next great Eagles quarterback and Dallas continues to dominate us at the point of attack with the Ware, Rattlif, and Spencer combination this trade effectively crippled us for the next five years or so.

Present:

This year was a pretty crazy year wasn't it. It started with a flop when we lost Brian Dawkins. Then continued with an exciting trade to acquire Jason Peters and some good signings including Leonard Weaver and even Michale Vick. Then came the draft where we got some great new offensive weapons including Jeremy Macklin and LeSean McCoy. We had a buzz killing training camp that featured Stewart Bradley tearing his knee and also the uncertainty at the Free Safety position, and of course the passing of our great defensive coordinator Jim Johnson(RIP). The Season its self was complete up and down madness. Starting with a big win over a team that at the time everyone thought was going to be amongst the elite in the NFC but at the cost of an injury to McNabb. So in comes Kevin Kolb who I think its easy to say exceeded every ones expectations. For the rest of the season we won some games lost some games what ever. Then came the last game of the season where the second seed in the playoffs and a first round bye and we got completely dominated and shut out by a divisional rival, God just typing it makes me feel sick. then the playoffs more of the same. Overall this season was a disappointment but looking back on it the way our offensive line and defense was depleted by injuries maybe our expectations were a little high but whatever you have to hope your team can win every game or why else even watch them.

Future:

I will break this down into a couple of different areas

Offence: We are pretty set at all the skill positions assuming be bring back Weaver and Avant. What we do need though is more line depth and/or starters I think that Shawn Andrews might surprise us and be back ready for this year but I wouldn't count on it and I also think his brother might just have been health problems bothering him this year but who really knows if he can actually play.

Defense: To me this is our biggest need area on the team. first we need another Safety to pair with Quintin Mikell. then we need a big time play-making linebacker. and we also need another difference maker along the deffensive line to go with Trent Cole.

Quarterback: As most of you know I have always defended McNabb on this website. I still even after the two terrible games to end the season think that he is a good QB, he was running for his life on about 80% of the plays agains Dallas, and can win a Super Bowl .... but not with the Philadelphia Eagles as being run by Andy Reid. Now I'm not trying to say that Andy is a bad coach because I love him usually as a coach, but McNabb is a much better QB when he is playing under center and going off of play action and that is just not Andy Reid's game plan ... ever. Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you next year will be a playoff year with Kevin Kolb because I honestly don't think it will but I just think its time for Andy and Donovan to go their separate ways, as sad as I am to say it. So, as much as it may shock some of you, I am ready to pass the ball to Kolb.

also sorry I haven't been on much recently lol.

He's there most valuable defender

And possibly their most valuable player. The injury was to the shoulder so its not like its career threatening. But I don’t think we got anybody they would take that has as much value as D’Qwell has to them.

We have the 24th overall pick

:)

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

I don't know if D'Qwell is worth that

He’s great, but we don’t know if he can play in a 4-3.

Oh i think we do!!!

" But I don’t think we got anybody they would take that has as much value as D’Qwell has "

I think we have 3 players that they would take for D’Qwell.

Only one has value because of youth

We have to make sure that D’Qwell can play in a 4-3 first. Besides, the Eagles seem to have a love for Bradley at middle and it doesn’t look like that is going to change.

Bradley could go to SAM

if we got the right guy in the middle
