Feeley Cut
Word is that the Eagles have cut A.J. Feeley. After weeks of speculation about Feeley and the Eagles options for trading him it comes down to the Eagles letting him go for nothing to apparently create space for an undrafted free agent cast off DT from the Redskins named Antonio Dixon. It seems to me that the Eagles were playing a game of chicken with the other teams in the league who needed a quarterback and they blinked first. I don't understand why there was a big rush to cut Feeley. I liked what the Eagles did at first by putting Vick on the reserve list and keeping Feeley on the 53. Unless Dixon is a real diamond in the rough who the Eagles staff were salivating over I can't understand why, 24 hours latter, they felt that they had no other option but to cut Feeley. At Worst Feeley was insurance against an early season disaster or an other team becomes desperate after some early season woes or injuries and throws the Eagles a 4th or 5th rounder for Feeley.

Garcia
I think with Jeff Garcia out there after getting released by the Raiders, along with the McCown trade, any team that wants a #2 will not part with enough for it to matter to justify maintaining AJ on the active roster. I don’t understand the Dixon signing, however…why not keep Klecko since he doubles as a backup FB?

Klecko was not so good as a FB and is not so good as a D-lineman. Why keep a guy who’s not so good at two positions? If Weaver goes down, Klecko And/or Eckels will be on the street anyway.
I bleed green and I piss silver and blue
He was actually a decent defensive tackle on passing downs. In first four games, he had two sacks. If Klecko stayed a DT and never go into FB, he may just have 5-7 sacks. Which isn’t bad for a backup DT.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

I loved Klecko as well, I thought he was good as a pass rusher.
For them to cut him, and switch him a year earlier, they must have saw something we didn’t see. Maybe he got blown off on some plays, or sucked at run downs. I don’t get it though, he got 2 sacks in 2 games last year at DT. I don’t get it.
Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!

feeley
It was either drop feeley or a wr. We’re gonna get a higher value for one of our WR’s then we would have out of feeley. It was the right move. We bluffed, and got called on it.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."
My point was that they did it for a cast off DT. If it was between Feeley and one of the wide receivers then I’m with you. Who knows what’s going to happen in the next three weeks until Vick can play? Maybe a QB or two goes down and a team needs a player like Feeley.
I'm not drunk I'm just drinking.
Right now we still have to drop some one off the 53 for Vick to participate so I don’t know if you can blame the timing of the Feeley cut on Vick’s situation.

why would we keep Feeley though? He wasn’t going to make the roster past week 2….if we kept him, we’d need to keep 4 QBs til we released him after week two. That takes away a spot from another position. Our WRs have probably generated more interest than Feeley, especially with Garcia as a FA. Keeping feeley would have been a mistake. We’ll get more out of our WR in all likelihood than we would out of Feeley.
