Philadelphia Eagles 2009 Cuts Tracker - Final Roster
At 6:00 pm EST tonight, the Eagles whittled down their roster to the league-mandated 53 players. Some decisions were no-brainers, while others had to be very difficult. However, the current roster is by no means final as we currently have seven wide receivers and only two tight ends. Expect trades, signings, or both to come over the next day or so. ESPN's Adam Schefter has already reported that the Patriot's tight end corps are in for "a wild day."
Head on over to PE.com's Bloghead for a brief analysis of each cut player.

Good idea.
I think I’m going to set the record for the # of times I’m refreshing the page. Although the Eagles will probably wait until the last minute so others don’t know who’s available.
Looking Mean in Kelly Green
Check the fanshots, Ikegwuono just got released.

i'm pretty shock ike got cut
i mean i guess i can see why, he wasn’t very impressive. but i guess i just believed all the hype about his 1st rd potential… oh well…
Eagles keeping 7 WRs!
And Vick is off the roster until Week 3 while AJ gets shopped around.

7 receivers?
So im assuming Hank is gone, as he is the least talented “receiver”, no?
Absoultely on both counts.
And Baltimore only has 4 WRs on their roster, so maybe we can work a trade…

Wow Ravens cut 5 receivers. Looks like they’re primed to go after a few new ones very soon.

don’t the eagles have a surplus of receivers? maybe we can get lj smith back. JOKE JOKE JOKE!!!
that's going to be a weird situation...
remember anuj? all he would talk about was knowshon Knowshon KNOWSHON!!! and now he’s a distant memory. i wonder what’s going to happen to our “mr opposite?”
per eagles website…
“The Eagles waived … CB Trae Williams, CB Jack Ikegwuonu, DE Bryan Smith, DE Josh Gaines, LB Tank Daniels, FS Reshard Langford, WR Danny Amendola, RB Lorenzo Booker, C Dallas Reynolds, G Paul Fanaika, G Mike Gibson, TE Rob Myers, FB Marcus Mailei and FB Kyle Eckel. These players are now subject to waivers.
The Eagles released … DT Dan Klecko, LB Matt Wilhelm and TE Matt Schobel. These players are now unrestricted free agents.
The Eagles placed QB Michael Vick on the Exempt/Commissioners Permission List. He will not be able to practice as long as he’s on this list. He is eligible to play in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Eagles placed OT Fenuki Tupou on injured reserve."

Feeley "likely cut" if they can't find a trade partner...
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Biggs-Source-says-Feeley-likely-cut-if-hes-not-traded.html
That would be really dumb. He still has value.
Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(
I don't agree
with the jack ike cut. We draft him, stick on IR for a year, then cut him? has anyone had surgery? any surgery with your legs involed takes time for them to heal and recover, then you have to work to get everything back you lost. Is this whats going to happen with te CI next year? if so why draft injuryed players for? and eagles FO make injuried players wear a brace on their knees while they practice. poor Jibta lol be careful brother!

the Eagles prolly only cut him to shut JIBTA up
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

JIBTA needs a new handle
Bye, Bye Booker!!!!!!!!
Normally I wouldn’t say this, but I hope Amendola finds success with whatever team inevitably signs him. He played his heart out to earn a roster spot the old-fashioned way, the guy deserves a shot somewhere.

I really like what they're doing with the WR's.
Screw all the teams that were sitting there waiting for us to cut Brown/Baskett/Gibson. It’s gonna cost you something, fellas.

per adam schefter...
I’m now hearing it’s going to be a wild day at tight end for the Pats. Stay tuned for details.
Interesting…
Giants cut Tyree!
Guess his helmet was out of shape this season.
adam schefter
is the source, david thomas got traded to the saints as well so cross him off our tight end list. I dont know if any realizes but we only have two tight ends right now, celek and curtis…
I think...
We are comfortable with Celek being our starter and we’re only looking for a back up TE at this point. Unless we can get Watson for Feeley.
he’s better than nothing i guess, but i was kinda hoping for a trade for watson or something like that. pipe dreams.
lol Jeff Garcia released from Raiders…

Jeff Garcia
Another guy who I wish the best for. Don’t want to lose a tight end over him, however.

Hmmm
so who needs a wr for a TE ? I would gladly trade baskett or brown….definitely not Gibson. Hes had a better pre season than Maclin.
Pats are keeping Watson.

Per PFT
The Patriots have solved their logjam at the tight end position by dealing David Thomas to the Saints, releasing veteran Alex Smith and then trading with the Giants for tight end Michael Mitchell in exchange for a conditional pick. Adam Schefter at ESPN tweeted those moves.
That means New England now has Benjamin Watson and Chris Baker at the position along with Mitchell, a tight end who’s more proficient as a blocker than receiver.

How about the Bears?
Need a backup QB and better WRs for Cutler.
Could we get Desmond Clark? They kept 4 TE’s including Gaines (blocker) and young guy who used to be a DE (sound familiar?).
lol no

Why Patterson?
Anybody out there wonder why we kept this guy? I can’t remember him doing much. Did I miss something?
Rod Hood
If he is willing to sign as our 5th CB say bye bye to Patterson. He was a starter in the Super Bowl!
Just for fun... A look at the Cowboys 2009 draft class...
3rd round – Jason Williams – Made team
3rd round – Robert Brewster – IR
4th round – Stephen McGee – Made team
4th round – Victor Butler – Made team
4th round – Brandon Williams – IR
5th round – Deangelo Smith – CUT
5th round – Michael Hamlin – Made team
5th round – David Beuhler – Made team
6th round – Stephen Hodge – IR
6th round – John Phillips – Made team
7th round – Mike Mickens – CUT

12 picks, 6 make the team… Bang up job at the draft, fellas.
Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(
FB
im confused…we cut eckel and meilai? so we have 1 FB, who recently got hurt…anyone know what the deal with that is?
There also might be a better FB in waivers
Greenbay is sitting on 3 FBs at the moment even after cuts….
has anyone noticed jibta hasn't posted or commented since "the news"
coincidence??
"I Think I'm Pretty Nasty" - Jason Peters
why is everyone so surprised JIBTA got caught?
Do you guys get too caught up in draft projections? Once you’re drafted it’s either you can play or you can’t — no matter where you’re drafted.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
Not unless your cousin says you’re going to wait for #7 overall money because Kiper said thats where you should have been drafted and that you’re going to sit out the year and wait for the next draft to come around.
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

So..uh
Wow. A few surprises. I was pretty sure we’d keep a second FB. Surprised Ike was let go. Same for Bryan Smith. I was pretty sure they’d keep him after cutting Klecko. Holding onto our receivers is an excellent move by the Eagles.
Other than those, this was pretty easy. Booker and Schobel gone…man…I AM HAPPY. But, shucks…I do hope Amendola comes back.
he will
I don’t think he’s good enough for some team to come get him this close to the season starting. I think he’s on our PSquad this season.
Anyone wanna guess where the cuts end up?
Bryan Smith – Oakland
Jack Ike – Dallas
Klecko – Detroit
Booker – Jacksonville
BONUS PREDICTION – Feeley to the Rams for a 5th round pick
I am the people's troll :3™
Good game...
B. Smith – Houston
J. Ike – Chicago
Klecko – Washington
Booker – Done
Feeley – New England
R. Brown – Baltimore
Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(
While were guessing...
B. Smith = Kansas City
Ike = St Louis
Klecko = Atlanta
Brown = Baltimore
Feeley = Chicago
Booker = Week 6 Seattle
Amendola = Tennessee
Mike Gibson = Kansas City
Schobel = Week 11 Minnesota
Bonus Round:
Jeff Garcia to New England
Gotta say...
I think only 9 DL, 3 DT’s could be a mistake. If Bunk/Patt/Laws go down…. Were F’ed. Didn’t we make a similar DL mistake in 2005?
And 7 WR’s is crazy. Rather have kept Klecko.
TE
After breaking down the last game it is apparent why the Eagles went with 2 TEs instead of the normal 3. Although Myers caught the ball pretty well in the 3rd game, his blocking as well as Schobel, was horrid. Simply occupying the defender is not good enough, they needed to get a push on them which they failed to do. Tony Curtis didn’t too much better but since it was his 1st full go since last season, you could see his base fundamentals were there. He should be better as time goes on. I wish my 49ers would have figured him out first. Now we’re the market for a blicking TE like Tony.
