Just a day after Kevin Kolb took home player of the week honors, Desean Jackson grabs another accolade...

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Month for September.

Jackson returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. He currently leads the entire NFL in punt return average (22.2 yards per return).

Funny enough, P Sav Rocca won the special teams player of the month for September last year...

I will second that. . Djax is the man all day and night

Really?

I think DJ is an exciting player to watch, but special teams player of the month. Did the voters notice the play against NO when he caught a punt on the 2 yard line and helped to pin the team back against their goal line? That pivotal play contributed to the Eagles demise week 2. And to say, “I’d do it again” meaning, he’d field a punt inside the five again…he needs to be smarter than that. Come on kid…we need your mind to match your talents.

I believe you mean the one he returned nicely

and was only a bad play because of the stupid penalties taken by Clemons etc?

by Balagast on Sep 30, 2009 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

+1

exactly…everyone on the thread was upset with djax, but nobody remembered that he got it past the 20 and that is brought back because of a penalty that didn’t or would not have affected the play

They wouldn’t have had to make those blocks if he wasn’t fielding in such a poor spot.

As for the award, people remember his sportscenter highlight PR to blow open the game and he has great stats = PotM

My buddy was saying that same shit and blaming that non fair catch as the reason that drive stalled…um how bout the throw behind the wideout on 3rd down that was a possible big YAC play if kk wouldve hit him in stride…

It was actually a rather nice return except for the dumb penalty during the return that nullified his run back. Djack is the muthafuckin shitt and how can you argue that having the highest punt return avg in the league plus a return TD by week 3 doesn’t warrant that.

Soren…You are just one of many over anxious fans who are trying to find reasons to not like one of our best players…and definately our best “playmaker” so far this season.

Desean should win this award every month...

…unless the fat man gets cute and insists on putting fumble fingers Maclin back there.

I would worry about them trying to "Hester" him

Reid could be scared that his top WR might get hurt and be more cautious with him.

I don’t wanna be a dick about it, because I’m going to put my site in my sig when I have it ready, and I’m going to pimp the shit out of it everywhere I have “web presence” or “e-cred” or whatever the hell kids are calling it nowadays.

I don’t care if the kid got it to the 50, more times than not, it’s bad news fielding a punt inside the 5 and the likelihood of a penalty is one of the reasons why.

meh

he was put in there to make plays … if he takes that to the house no one says a thing.

This kid

has game.

hope he keeps it up, and he’ll have a multimillion dollar contract and his first probowl after this superbowl winning season

by maximdim on Sep 30, 2009 9:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

actually...

What sucks is that if our eagles do make the sb, none of them will be able to particpate in the probowl since it it the week before the big game this year. Stupid as shit if you ask me…

The only thing I'm angry at.....

…..is that I didn’t take DJax in an earlier round in Fantasy Football. I wanted to take him in the 2nd round, but thought I was too much of a “homer” and maybe he wasn’t going to be as good as I expected. I took someone else, and the FF Team owner 3 spots behind me took him.

Sucks for me, DJax has put points on the board this year.
