McNabb > Eli Manning
I am posting this article as a Fan Post because.... Well it deserves it.
Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia
Analysis: Huge production for an extended period of time … offense built around him … ability to extend the play makes him very hard to defend … no such thing as a dead play with McNabb … can beat the perfect defensive call because of his experience combined with strength and athleticism … sometimes inconsistent with his accuracy.
Analysis: Proven winner who has become a great big-game quarterback … cerebral player … has huge responsibilities at the line of scrimmage, allowing the Giants to be very multiple on offense, paying huge dividends in the run game (almost every run they have is some sort of box-count run or is conditional on safety alignment or defensive spacing, with Manning getting the Giants into better running plays) … still shows inconsistency as a passer.
I this article Trent Dilfer has McNabb as the 6th best QB in the League. He has Eli at #7. I agree with this, and frankly Trent's ability to break down QB's kind of surprises me. He was thorough and did a good job. There are always points you can argue, but overall rating I think was as close as you're gonna get without nit-picking minute details.
Side note.
Tony Romo came in at #10
Jason Campbell came in at a humble #23
I know we are gonna have a Cowboy's Troll so I left a spot on our Poll for you. ;)
If You are gonna be the guy to Vote he was way off, PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR EXPLANATION BELOW!

I thought all Cowboys Fans were gay anyway.
I really shouldn’t insult homosexuals by calling them Cowboy’s fans though.

Dilfer
Dilfer sucks. I find him extremely annoying and not nearly as amusing as all the other ex-player personalities on ESPN. He’s such a jackass, but then again so is 90% of ESPN.

Cowboys Fan... (not the gay kind)
I am OK with it.
Except that Eli does not belong at number seven. The article gives him the position based on his ability to set up run plays.
Really?… Run Plays?… For a Qb?
McNabb is a great Qb choke and has had success in the league but needs to stay healthy in his last few years.
Romo is a blast to watch (big kudos in my book) and hasn’t shown it on the big stage but has the tools to be elite.
McGruber!
Wow,
You were serious, thoughtful and honest.
You get 2 thumbs up in my book.

Not that there's anything wrong with that

A Cowboys fan perspective
I emailed this article to this friend who is a Cowboys fan. Everytime I try to talk football with him I get so frustrated and annoyed that I have to tell him I can’t talk to him for a couple weeks because he is so far fetched with his talking points.
Here is an example from his e-mail:
GOOD ARTICLE…BUT NOT JUS SAYING THIS…BUT MY QB AND YOURS BUT MORE MINE PER SAY…DEAL WITH MORE PRESSURE BECAUSE OF THE CITY AHD THE FAN BASE….YAL STARVING FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP…WE EXPECT THEM…..THATS A LOT OF PRESSURE OUR QBS HAVE TO DEAL WITH. BEASIDES ALL THE OTHER STUFF THAT COMES WITH BEING A QB
BIG BEN (BUT HE’S DOING HIS PART) RICH HISTORY IN THAT PART OF PA
ELI MANNING ( ALL HE NEEDED WAS ONE….MAKES HIM A SUPERBOWL WINNING QB) NY IS A TOUGH MARKET
EVERYOTHER QB HAS EXPECTATIONS BASED ON DRAFT STATUS
BUT YOU DON’T HEAR SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM
CARLSON PALMER NEVER WON A PLAYOFF GAME
JAY CUTLER…HASN’T EVEN BEEN TO PLAYOFFS
EVEN DREW BREES TOSSED FOR 5000 YARDS AND DIDN’T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS….FUG THAT
SO OUR GUYS HAVE IT HARDER
YOU DON’T HEAR AS MUCH ABOUT THOSE GUYS FAILURES AS YOU DO OUR GUYS… YOUR JUST NOT GETTING WHAT IM SAYING….AND BEING THE COWBOYS QB IS THE TOUGHEST JOB IN THE NFL…..
So my opinion of Cowboy fans are having no sense of REALITY!!
In life, as in a football game, the principle to follow is: Hit the line hard.
-Theodore Roosevelt
McNabb’s the best QB in the NFC East. On a week to week basis, McNabb gives his team the best chance to win. Eli had the best team in the world for 4 weeks and played one amazing game and had the help of one amazing catch, too. I won’t take that away from him. He came up huge against the Patriots, but so did the rest of his team. Romo can be impressive but just turns the ball over way too much. I don’t think we’ve seen Campbell’s potential yet. He has to have a higher ceiling than he’s shown.
I am the people's troll :3™
Eli SUCKS!
“Proven winner who has become a great big-game quarterback "
He won a Superbowl on a lucky catch. Oh, and it didnt hurt that he had a pretty good defense that held the GREATEST OFFENSE IN HISTORY to 14 points.
Other than that year, he hasnt done much in the ‘big games’. Elis not a very good QB, hes just had some pretty good players around him (on both sides of the ball), that make his record pretty good. On the whole, I think hes an average QB at best.
ELI # 7 ????????
Granted he is a very good QB and he does have wat Mcnabb craves, but #7 is a couple spots off where i would put eli. Now we are really gonna see how good eli is without Plax and Amani. Remember Donavan has made a career out of playing with no name receivers . Now lets see how eli does in this spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY TOP 10 QB LIST
PEYTON MANNING – ULTIMATE FIELD GENERAL
DREW BREES – IF SAINTS HAD A DEF THEY WOULD BE SB CONTENDERS
TOM BRADY – QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS DURABILITY STARTING TO SURFACE
AARON RODGERS – ON THE VERGE OF STARDOM, POSSIBLE MVP CANDIDATE
KURT WARNER – STILL KNOWS HOW 2 GET THE JOB DONE
DONAVAN MCNABB – STILL CAN MOVE ,MAKING EVERY PLAY A DANGEROUS ONE
PHILLIP RIVERS – ABSOLUTE COMPETITOR, HAS THE WILL TO WIN
BEN ROETHLISBERGER – NO SEXY STATS HERE, JUST WINS AND RINGS
JAY CUTLER – HAS ALL THE TOOLS, CANNON ARM, GREAT ON THE RUN
ELI MANNING – GREAT FOOTBALL IQ, ALL THE TOOLS , BORN A WINNER
If you’re going to judge a QB’s talent by the talent of his receivers, either the lack of it or the presence of it, then you’ve gotta judge Cutler and Rivers by the crap pass defense they’ve been feasting on.
And Peyton has always had weapons but Eli is much further along at this stage in his career than Peyton was at the same stage (entering his sixth season).
Brady has Moss and Welker.
Big Ben did nothing at all to win his first Super Bowl— it was his D and run game, whereas Eli although u can all argue was carried by the run and the defense, was key to winning all our playoff games and the superbowl. The Giants would not be Super Bowl Champs if it wasn’t for Eli, period.
This past superbowl Big Ben proved that he’s the real deal, so no knocks on him, he’s a great QB stats or no stats.
I don’t know how the Eagles choke 4 times in the NFC Championship, but I think you deserved to win the SB, the officiating of that entire game was BS… and I think McNabb deserves HOF after another 2 similarly productive years in the NFL.
Brees is straight-up the best QB in the league if you ask me.
who did brady have before...
Moss and Welker??? Also before he had them he had fairly decent to pretty good stats. After he got some real recievers the guy exploded

Eli and McNabb have identical 86.4 QB ratings last season, with Eli throwing for 21 Tds and 10 picks and McNabb 23 TDs and 11 picks. Eli in his 5th year, and McNabb in his 10th. Just food for thought, I’m not gonna argue why Eli’s better or McNabb’s worse or anything.
What I’m interested to hear though is if you guys think Eli will become a better QB, stay the same, or if he has already hit his peak…. and same about McNabb.
Fellow Believers!
It is always a great pleasure to join the Church of Donovan McNabb in full session, yet it has saddened my spirit to see you, the desciples of Donovan, in a constant state of worry about his health, while continuing undeterred in your quest for the holy grail that seems forever out of reach.
While my orginal denomination is with the Church of Tony Romo, I often seek enlightenment in other congregations, and have occasionally found great inspiration in the writings of one of your elders, Bye, Dawk :(. My own congregation has been weakened by a great schism caused by the heretical practices of one T.O., whom we have seen fit to cast forth into the wasteland that is Buffalo. Pray for us as we enter a very contentious phase of finding a new prophet to lead us to the promised land.
I bring you greetings from the Church of Eli Manning, which is currently proposing instant sainthood for their anointed one by pre-ordaining him for the HOF with nary a shred of evidence.
I have also passed through the Church of Jason Campbell, from where I bring you sad tidings. The Children of Zorn have lost faith in their anointed one, going so far as to worship at the altar of the pagan gods of Cutler and Sanchez in their growing heresy. Alas, their prayers remain unanswered.
In my search for enlightenment, I have visited the Temple of Peyton Manning, only to find that they had renamed themselves to ‘The Scientific Church of Peyton Manning’s Regular Season Fantasy Stats’. In their mono-theistic zeal, no mention is made in their vast historical archives of a 7-8 post-season record. Then again, this brought back to my attention the gridiron commandment: “Do not envy thy neighbors ability to win a post-season game”.
Keep me in your thoughts over the next days as I descend into the evil empire of the Cult of Brady (still unrepentant about their fall from grace) to study their scripture on the self-propagating myth of The Lost Season. I will also attempt to troll the hollow halls of the Tom Brady apologists at CHFF, conveniently located in the dank cellars of the Cult of Brady.
