Brent Celek, #1 TE so far this season (Football Outsiders)
http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/te
Based on actual math! Brent Celek is the most valuable TE in the NFL so far, at least based solely on catches. How long until he gets his national props? If he keeps this up, I'm thinking that by December he'll be mentioned in a similar vein to Jason Witten and Dallas Clark, both of whom he's outperformed this year.
Also of note, Kevin Kolb had the #2 best game of all NFL QBs (not adjusted for opponents) http://footballoutsiders.com/quick-reads/2009/week-3-quick-reads despite not having a WR in the top 5! It's called spreading the ball around.

Yet, Jackson and Celek aren’t mention as a top WR/TE?? um… ok.

i hope that McNabb continues to use Celek the way Kolb has. The dude just doesnt give up on any play, and he’s been a great check-down.

i wouldnt say he’s outperformed Clark in fairness, Clark has better stats at least (except in catches). But yeah i totally agree, I’ve been a huge fan of Celek since the Seattle game last year, and he’s getting better and better.
I picked him up in free agency in my fantasy team and he and desean are the only guys getting me points! So much for Deangelo Williams, Michael Turner and Welker!

Its a lost battle
JIBTA is stubborn and sticks to his guns. If he thinks someone sucks, they will always suck in his mind. Its kind of funny how he says that he was making catches against crappy linebackers yet last time I checked Johnthan Vilma is a pro bowler, Jon Beason is one of the top 5 in the game, and Thomas Davis is one of the NFL leaders in tackles. But like I mentioned, he says Celek sucks so no matter what, Celek sucks (in his opinion anyways).

lol
vilma was good on the jets .. not soo much anymore .. and he didnt have that big game against carolina with davis covering him .. just kcs bum linebackers and the saints .. well see wha he does when we play teams like the giants .. than well talk .. i said he can catch .. hes like a chad lewis .. but he will never be a vernon davis type talent

Like I said
Its a lost battle. JIBTA aint going to change his mind about Celek and there is nothing we can do about it. But if Celek keeps doing what he’s doing I could care less about what JIBTA’s opinion is. Yards and Touchdowns speak louder than posts.

celek is definantly
out performing everyone, just because Clark was a probowler last year doesnt mean Celek cannot be this year… He has been impressive so far so dont hate.

Clark w/o Peyton = zero probowls.
Dallas Clark is OVERRATED.

no, clark would be a good
TE without Peyton, he’s a bit overrated but not much… Peyton makes him look a little tiny bit better than he really is but Clark is pretty damn good.

In 4 of my fantasy leagues, I drafted Celek in the last round of all 4 leagues haha… 10-2 so far

Kolb is
a good QB, never second guessed it. Celek is a great weapon for a young QB to have, They both came into the league together I expect to see them leave together… and with a few rings(like 12)

lets be modest here
like 12
id settle for 5

Jason Whitten?
I’m a huge Brent Celek fan and I can’t stand the cowboys, but Whitten is perhaps the best blocking tight end in football. Celek, by his own admission, is improving but not at the elite level. It’s hard to outperform Whitten.
by Soren K on Sep 30, 2009 4:32 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
2 corrections...
Vernon Davis is the best blocking tight end in football and its Witten not Whitten.
Felix is better than Brian. You can call me FIBTB.

Witten in Green
And to think, we could have had Witten and Celek…instead we go LJ Smith.
by Soren K on Sep 30, 2009 4:42 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
u mean rutgers not representing
I mean shit…its up to Ray Rice and Kenny Britt to carry the flag for RU…
I wouldn’t want Mike McMahon and LJ Smith to be the best representation…
