Greg Lewis a Hero

So who would have thunk it? Greg Lewis, at 29, cut from the Eagles and the Pats this year has made arguably the greatest last minute play (along with Farve) in the history of the NFL.

Star-divide

<b>Greg Lewis</b><br /><br /><a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/MIN'>Vikings</a> receiver Greg Lewis (17) catches the winning touchdown under pressure from the 49ers' <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2112/Mark_Roman'>Mark Roman</a> (26) to put the Vikings ahead of the <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/SFX'>San Francisco 49ers</a> 27-24 at the Metrodome Sunday in Minneapolis.</br><span style=

With only 2 tics left in the game, on the 32 yard line looking in, and down by 4, Greg Lewis comes up the star with a leaping grab in the back of the end zone, stepped with his left foot and dragged his right for the win.

Kudos to Farve for threading the needle once again but this was Lewis's first catch of the season!

I think this is a great story. I have always liked and respected Lewis. The guy is always smiling- just happy to be playing. According to Postbulletin.com  http://news.postbulletin.com/newsmanager/templates/localnews_story.asp?z=22&a=418313, he wasn't even supposed to suit for the game. The real reason he even got a chance was because Childress has a soft spot for him. Don't get me wrong, I know our WR core is stronger now then ever- I just like to see guys like this do well. Congrats G Lewis

I had $100 on the Niners getting +240 on the money line to win outright. I’m hating Greg Lewis today.

Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(

GLew=Von Hayes

That said, I agree with Green and Whodie, both of whom rightly spanked Bye Dawk for his poor financial planning.

"4th and 26."...

Was Freddy Mitchell’s one big day. I hope Greg can build on his. He has much more class than Mitchell did.

GLew

Had a touchdown catch in a superbowl too. This play sums up lewis perfectly. He’ll make one clutch spectacular play then wont have a catch for another 7 games.

Greg Lewis and Eric Bruntlett

are very similar in my mind. theyre both somewhat decent but have performed something amazing. with GLew it is this catch, and with Brunts it was his unassisted triple play

Bruntlett also scored some pretty key runs for us in The Series last year.

he scored the game winning run in game 3 and game 5 of the World Series … for that I will forever be grateful to Eric Bruntlett.

Bruntlet is a great fielder

would start for a few teams, we should consider ourselves lucky to have a guy like him backing up our guys.
Good glove, great attitude and like Whodie said he has come up clutch for us when it was needed

RIP JJ

what

do u watch the phillies .. i watched atleast a 100 games this year .. he made a ton of errors .. he actually had an error and another one should of been an error before that triple play .. and he was hiting under .200 he wouldnt start for ANY team in mlb .. including the nationals .. guzman is a hell of a lot better than this guy .. maybe the pirates .. he would fit right in there .. what a bum .. cairo is a better utility infielder .. when bruntlett is up its like automatic out .. like when abraham nunez used to come up in the ninth .. i used to change the chanel

Agreed...

I can’t figure out how Bruntlett is on a MLB roster, much less a World Champion.

REALLY?

I mean, damn. It was a good play but overreact much?

And it almost seems to be a certainty that this will factor into the playoff seeding but “greatest last minute play in the history of the NFL”? Come on.

2 seconds left

35 yards out down by 4. Thread the needle, back of the end zone double coverage

There arent a lot of plays like that brother… I said arguably the greatest last minute play.
Ofcorse Rothlesbugers would rank up there but he had more time and less distance with a starting WR
Ofcorse the venue wasnt the superbowl but disregaurd that, just the play itself. It would be difficult to name another 5 like it/ dont take it so literaly Im not saying its impossable but this play is definitly up there

RIP JJ

Just say it was a great play and skip the hyperbole.

I still remember that play when Donovan threw deep to Lewis in the NFC championship and hit him right on the money for an easy td and he just flat out dropped it, and all I could think was what if the inactive Reggie Brown was in that spot, probably be a touchdown.
