Around SBN: Headlines: BC Beats BU 4-3 in 58th Beanpot Championship

You be Cleveland

You lost 3 staight games, Brady Quinn is horrible and when you decide to put Anderson in he still throws 3 INTs in less than a half. For the last 2 years you could not have good play from your QBs. Eric Mangini is on the hot seat already and you are the worse team in the NFL yes even behind the Lions.

Than you get a trade offer. Andy Raid calls you up and offers you a 3rd year QB who started 2 games this year and had over 300 yards passing each game. Along with That young QB you get a receiver who cought over 1000 yards 2 years ago and can stretch the field. All you have to give up is One player who doesn't even want to be on that team. This will gibe you a 3rd QB option who will most likely start for you. it will also bring a solid receiver plus get rid of a BIG headache.

There is STILL an idea to trade Kolb?

Jesus… He has back-to-back 300 yards game, only 24/25 yards old, and McNabb is 33 years old and only have two more years on his contract.

And we’re going to trade him for an overrated receivers? What?

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

by Imp on Sep 27, 2009 4:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

did you watch the last 2 games

Kolb CAN NOT LEAD A RECEIVER!!!!!! jackson is just that good to stretch the field and celic breaks tackles. every ball thrown is behind the receiver

by NickPampani on Sep 27, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Can’t lead receiver? Isn’t that something you don’t learn in two starts?

And he does this funny thing: he can put the ball right into the receiver had. He has GREAT accuracy, constantly putting the ball through two defenders and into his receiver’s hands.

Oh, yeah, he went 24/34, a 70.5 completion percentage.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

by Imp on Sep 27, 2009 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow so our recivers could make a play

Watch the highlights watch Jacksons big TD. or what about anyone of celics catches he can not hit someone in stride

by NickPampani on Sep 27, 2009 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

...dumb

That big 40+ yards to DeSean in first quarter? In stride. That slant-turn-touchdown in 3rd? In stride. That Celeck TD in 4th? In stride.

70.5% doesn’t lie.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

Guy,

Who in the NFL do you think Kolb is most alike.

to me This is similar to Derrick Anderson who had 5 TDs went 20 of 33 for 321 with a 121 rating.

decent QBs have good game. plus look who he played the saints Defense and the Cheifs Defense who ranked 23rd and 28th last year against the pass.

That was meant to say Guys not Guy.

by NickPampani on Sep 27, 2009 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

it's possible to say that

but at the same time, there’s not reason to believe he won’t turn into the next aaron rodgers…sit behind the starter for a few years and then come in and play great.

the thing is, he’s played two full games. He has over 700 yards passing. He has 4 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, and 3 int (2 of which happened in complete garbage time at the end of a blowout). He’s been showing he’s capable of being a good NFL starter, and I believe he will eventually be a good one.

by eagleyosh on Sep 27, 2009 5:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Finaly We agree

Ive never said he isnt good or even great. but the difference between him and McNabb is huge. If McNabb was in last week and threw for 300+ yards we would have won because he has great leadership. Kolbs stats are impressive but he is missing the extra something to make him a great franchise QB and that is what i want for this team. And those 2 INTs bother me. I dont care is your winning in a blow out or loosing in a blow out you do not make stupid plays. yes accidents happen but a star player doesnt throw an int in the redzone no matter what. and it wasnt because he was trying to force it. it was lazy inaccurate throws

by NickPampani on Sep 27, 2009 5:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Didn’t Tom Brady hit Champ Baily in the redzone and return the pick for a touchdown in the 2005 divisional playoffs?

um Kolb was

getting after his line when he got sacked and they responded by not letting anyone through the rest of the game from what I saw…

He also coached maclin up on what appeared to be a wrong route…

Its small step but he has shown the faintest bit of leadership, you dont come in and in your first 2 games become a leader among solidified players.

by wild_eagle on Sep 27, 2009 6:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he led his team today, corrected his receivers and linemen

and from what i saw had good huddle leadership, but he also knew his role

after every series he went over to McNabb and got coached/advice from him. he is young and learnign, but still shows that he can light it up

i had my doubts and 3 weeks ago i would have supported this imaginary trade, but now there is no way i am trading him for anything less than ‘jerry jones being stupid’ picks

garcia was a probowler back in the day

…maybe our young kolb will be that for us in the post donovan days

It’s nice to know that after over a decade with mcnabb, there is actually life after him. If what we saw today is the line up 5 years from now, the eagles will continue to e competitive in this league

by eagleyosh on Sep 27, 2009 6:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kolb lit it up.

He actually has done well. He stays, not question about it, unless we can get a decent player and a 1st for him.

Nick your wrong, Kolb lead his recievers quite a bit, he stuck it in places you and I couldnt dream of fitting it, did you see the Celek TD when he rocketed it right into his hands?? If your trying to say he cant make a play passing after seeing that play then your retarded..

Also there was the 12yrd strike to Maclin on an our pattern which is one of the hardest throws to make on the field in the pocket, that hit him right on the hands where it had to be…

Kolb is going to be just fine in eagles green

by wild_eagle on Sep 27, 2009 6:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The 43 yard play...

was behind Jackson. Im not sayin trading Kolb is remotely a good idea, he is the heir to the throne of McNabb and I feel much more confident about him now as our QB of the future. But the first big one to Jackson was behind him, and if he hit Maclin in the numbers in the endzone we would have scored again. To be clear, I like Kolb he played great and a few bad throws won’t make me change my mind on how he played. But he was not the end all be all accurate QB you are trying to make him you to be.

he has definantly won a ton of fans over… He gets a new contract this year of next year…

Kolb can get it done, he has shown he can respond after a tough loss and get us a win, he has shown he can handle big time pressure and perform well under it. I now see what andy liked about him, although I have liked him from the start.

I think Kolb has a better career than Russell and quinn.

No one like avant more than i do but still i dont see eith Kevin Kolb or Kevin Curtis here in 3 years so why not tray one more weapon.

This is the challenge to personnel

Do you sit him until McNabb is gone, An possible waste his talent

Do you start him now, And possible waste McNabbs talent and risk bad play

Or do you trade him to get a pick or something to build the team i an Uncapped year

Was Rogers’ talent wasted on the bench? Carson Palmers’?

And it’s not like Kolb going to be old or anything. In two years, he’ll be 27 – that could be 6-8 good years from him.

Talent isnt wasted its saved

if he sits he learns, there is less of a transition period and less of a drop off in play…

My God!

The WR trade talks never end!!!!

1. Kolb is the future. He showed it today and last week. Back to back 300+ yard games in his first 2 NFL starts? Who will be our QB in 2-3 years?

2. If we needed Braylon Edwards(drop master), we would’ve traded for him before we drafted Maclin.

3. Kevin Curtis will be cut next year or traded(but not for another WR)

4. We have 5 wide receivers that could start in the NFL. Don’t need another one.

5. Cleveland blows!

6. Stop with this Kolb hating and WR bullshit!

Joe Montana made the 49ers great for the ’80’s and Steve Young kept them constantly in the NFC Championship game year in-year out. And 49ers could’ve traded Young away when Montana miss that one season and Young had great stock.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

what is 2 good QBs doing for you if one is on the bench all the time

Again speaking like a noobie. If Mcnabb goes down this season, who the hell is our QB? Jeff Garcia(if we keep him) who fumbled his first snap and got cut by the Raiders or Mike Vick who can’t play QB?

The Panthers are a perfect example of not grooming a QB for the future. They could be winning Superbowls right now if they drafted Delhomme’s successor couple years ago.

spoken like a noobie come on

dont be an idiot you could have a good back up on the bench. im not saying dont groom McNAbbs replacement im saying is Vick is a good backup why let Kolbs contract possibly run out and not resign him. what if McNabb plays 3 more years do you really want someone who has been riding the bench for 6 years coming in and being our starting QB or would you rather have younger talent coming in who maybe was drafted within that time.

by NickPampani on Sep 27, 2009 7:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kolbs contract possibly run out and not resign him.

He would become a restricted free agent. He pretty much would have to resign with us.

what if McNabb plays 3 more years

When McNabb’s two years contract goes up, he’ll be 35. Our FO do not resign 30+ years old players.

want someone who has been riding the bench for 6 years coming in and being our starting QB

…yes? If he can give us 6-8 good years at QB then sure. Look, Kolb’s 27 when McNabb is gone. He’s not going to be some 31 year old QB when McNabb is gone.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

by Imp on Sep 27, 2009 7:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

see heres the thing

when Garcia went in in 2005 McNabb was around 30. everyone was saying he is old and washed up. so what makes a 30 year old McNabb old but a 27 28 year old Kolb Fresh and ready to be a long term option. at that rate you would be looking at drafting Kolbs replacement 3 years after he gets his starting season. i do not look at that as being responsible.

The West Coast Offense i read takes 3 years to perfect. Kolb is right in line to be the full time starter in 2011.

I say trade Kolb...

…because NOW he’s worth something. People who say he’s the QB of the future know that he’s sitting two more years behind Donovan, right? He had a good game. No disputing that. Would you rather have Kolb start this season and in 2010 than Donovan? I don’t think anyone with half a brain would want that. So either Kolb sits at least two more years or we trade him. That being said, we don’t need wide receivers. Braylon Edwards wouldn’t really help.

Why would you trade your future QB, and a WR for

a WR only? that is just stupid and ill conceived. You didn’t think this one through.

I wouldn’t take Kevin Curtis for Braylon Edwards straight up. Just because of the money that Edwards in gonna demand, and it hampers Maclins progress. And why would I just throw in a future QB who just threw for 700 yrds, 4 tds in 2 weeks? That is silly.

WR is not our problem at this point, unless you are talking about Larry, or Calvin, I don’t want to hear about any more receivers. We have possibly the best WR corps in the NFL, imagine when Maclin is up to speed. Braylon just dosn’t fit.

Also, most agree, Kolbs value is SKY high right now, you can even get a first back in return for him, just based off his stats and his pedegree. Why would you trade so much, and ask for soo little in return. Can I trade you my subaru for your Bentley? Think about it.

I can’t beleive 15 people actually supported this silly idea. They would trade Curtis and Kolb for Edwards. They must all be like 12 years old or something. I wouldn’t do something that stupid with Madden, ratherless real football. Thats just stupid.
