Trotter coming back????

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, says that the Eagles have worked out Jeremiah Trotter to see what kind of shape he is in at this point.

This doesn't seem to be good news for our starting MLB Omar Gaither. I never played in the NFL, or in College, but Gaither doesn't seem to be getting the job done. He hasn't been impressive, thus far, but lets hope this work out of Trotter lights a fire or something.

Does anyone else really really... miss Stewart Bradley? Jeez, we could really use his services right now.

What does everyone else think? Is Gaither getting it done? No way Trotter comes back, right? Who else has a man crush and really misses Stewart Bradley? This doesn't show that Sean McDermott has a lot of confidence in Gaither.

What should we do?

No F-ing Way . . . .right?

Cmon, we cut Trotter for a reason and there HAS to be somebody better at middle linebacker (at this point in time) than Trotter, right?

He was slow then and even slower now. Isn’t Mays back from injury now? This news is too big to swallow or is that what my gf said to me last night? :) hahah

Trotter can’t run. That is what I remember Andy saying when he cut him.

I would really like to hear other peoples assesment of Gaither’s play. Don’t kill the messenger, I just would like someone to tell my that my eyes are seeing wrong and Gaither is good.

Do you remember the end of the 2007 season? Didn’t they lose to the Saints because we couldn’t stop the run? Who was our MLB? Wasn’t it Gaither? Who wants to see that happen again?

I don’t want to think about those possiblities.

I think this is the same as them working out Runyan

When Reid and the birds have a soft spot for guys, they take a look at them.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was an audition for a small role, like run downs and special teams, if anything. I don’t think he’s here to replace Gaither. Mentor him maybe.

For a roster that Banner called the best in the NFL, they sure are making a lot of changes.

Isn't that odd?

You’re right, D3, Banner DID call the roster the best in the NFL! Could peerless Joe have been mistaken? That would be shocking!

HAHA

I love your criticism of Joe…though it’s not always merited, in this case it most certainly is!

I don’t think he makes it for whatever reason. You could be right, goal line sounds logical.

Banner is EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don;t know why...

tho Trotter was a beast for a few seasons.

Surprised that I read he’s only 32.

I don’t know Omar had a decent game against the Panthers (fumble recovery, 4 tackles and .5 a sack) and was a key part of containing DeAngelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart to under 40 yards a piece (that and all the points on the board).

Against the Saints he looked bad he over pursued and just looked out of place. I’m 50-50 on him right now I think he has the abilities but tends to over play himself.

Bradley

Was gonna be my boy this season…I was ready to get his jersey…I was excited…now I have no idea…

Trotter was too slow for us 2 years ago…can’t imagine he got faster in his time away…

MLB is a real concern…I was never high on Gaither. I was admittedly high on Joe Mays, until he couldn’t cover in preseason. it’s a real question mark for us, and one that teams are going to exploit

I was so mad when bradley went down. i freely admit im biased by i think without doubt he would have been a pro bowler this season. im tempted with trotter because he was of my favorites when he was playing. he always gave everything he had on the field. however at this point i really dont think he has anything in the tank and i dont think this would be a smart idea. also, i know our linebackers got torched against the saints, but i think they will be decent this year. jordan especially i think will be a solid player.

Why is everyone discussing it like

Trotter would be brought in to start immediately?

This is a guy who at the peak of his game accepted a backup/ST role, why wouldn’t he now?

Also, isn’t Gaither stronger in coverage than most LBs? He used to be the nickel LB … so if he got replaced, it would be on run downs. Trotter was always pretty good playing downhill.

But teams do take advantage of slow LBs in coverage. Anyone remeber the Levon Kirkland year?

I was under the impression

that Gaither lost his starting job to Akeem last year b/c he couldn’t cover…Tight Ends were killing us on middle routes.

This is gonna be just like when they tried out Runyan. They try him out… nothing happens and we stop talking about it.

Evilbanner made me laugh

We’re working out some pretty desperate players for having ‘the most talented roster in the NFL’
