Amendola Snapped Up by St. Louis
Adam Caplan has just reported that Eagles practice squad wide receiver Danny Amendola has agreed to contract terms with the St. Louis Rams. A shifty receiver as well as a decent punt returner, the 23-year-old athlete played in all four of the Eagles' preseason games after spending his rookie year on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. He will be expected to return punts as well as compete for a slot receiving role in St. Louis.
In his short time with Philadelphia, Amendola showed flashes of brilliance, but simply couldn't crack the 53-man roster while playing at one of the team's deepest positions. Over the four games, Amendola racked up 74 yards from seven receiving and rushing attempts.
Since Amendola was the only receiver/return man signed to the Eagles practice squad, the best guess is that they will sign a player with similar skills to replace him. More on to come who our newest Eagle will be.
UPDATE: According to Philly.com, ex-Browns wide receiver Jordan Norwood has been invited for a workout:
Norwood, released by Cleveland just before the start of the season, is indeed coming to Philadelphia, but only a workout in front of team officials tonight is guaranteed.
The 5-foot-11, 171-pound receiver caught 41 passes for 637 yards and six touchdowns last year for the Nittany Lions. The Browns invited him to training camp as an undrafted free agent.

Weak.
I liked him and was hoping he’d be ready to contribute next year or whenever Brown and/or Curtis moved on…
Best wishes, Danny
Why?
We don’t need 6 wideouts on the roster.
Jackson-Maclin-Avant-Brown-Gibson would be just fine as a receiving corps.
What I was thinking was your lineup
minus Brown, plus Amendola
Look I’m not a Brown fan, because I think we have amazing receivers without him but I am really starting to feel bad for him. He hasn’t even been activated yet this season to show us something.. just something. Damn, poor guy is getting the shaft. I understand the cap hit.. but if you aren’t even gonna activate him then either way you are wasting money.

+1
I wish all the best for this guy – a guy who loves football and really worked hard in the preseason to try and make the team. Looked really great at times – wanted to keep him if we could, but c’est la vie
well
Congrats is all I can say. Best of luck to you Danny. Do it big in the STL.

this guy could be the next welker – he’s better than curtis – but i guess that’s not fair to curtis since he’s been hurt the past two years
This seems odd, they didn’t lose any wideouts to injury right? Is Amendola the difference maker they have been looking for? They didn’t seem inept returning punts or kicks and Sapgs can’t be that mad at Avery for the (possible) game losing fumble right?
Can anyone shed any light as to why this makes sense, especially after they just signed Ruvell Martin.

Please Explain
Best of Luck Danny. I like your potential and wished you could have fitted here in Eagles Nation.
But how did we lose him, if he was signed to our practice squad?
I thought that if a player was on our practice squad, no one could sign him.
I understood that the practice squad was a tool to extend the roster, they just couldn’t play in games until assigned to the team’s 53 roster.
Thanks in advance,
Onyx G.
Practice Squad
Another team can sign anyone they want off another team’s practice sqaud, but they have to then put that player on that their active roster for the rest of the season.
This is how the Eagles lost Andy Studebaker last season
KC signed him off of the Eagles practice squad.

Grats Danny!
I was hoping Danny would make it on the Eagles this season, but at least he’s getting his chance to be on someone’s active roster. Guy’s a warrior and hopefully he’s seen his last stint on a practice squad.
As a current PSU student
I’m excited about possibly adding Norwood. I was lucky enough to see him live for 2 seasons and he consistently outplays his size. He get’s up and fights for jump balls and made many terrific catches during his career. Though he may make no impact on the Eagles this season, I see potential there for the future.
mazel tov Danny
I think you can be a good slot guy, only problem is is that we have 3 slot guys (Avant, Gibson, and Maclin (for his first yr)).
I'm not surprised
I was actually surprised that a team didn’t try to sign him to their 53 man roster after he was initially cut. I had a feeling some team would steal him off of the practice squad at some point this season. A guy who can play receiver and return punts has some demand especially as the season progresses and teams have injuries or realize the judged wrong on some of their receivers/punt returners.
