ESPN: Vick ruling to come before Saturday
Sal Pal is reporting that the Eagles Eagles expect the commissioner to rule on Michael Vick's suspension by this Saturday, before the team is forced to trim it's roster to 53 players. Sal also hears that Vick will be back by week 3.
Goodell has wide latitude to make a ruling up to Week 6, and he can force Vick to sit out any number of games this season. But it is widely believed that he will allow Vick to return to full-time duty by Week 3, when the Eagles host the Kansas City Chiefs, according to those close to Vick and the Eagles.
If true, this means Vick's suspension will cover two games against the Panthers and Saints.

I’m not excited with what we saw them try to do with him against Jacksonville. I hope they show us differently tomorrow.

I hope they don't
If they have something good planned, save it.

Agreed.
I don’t think Reid was trying to hit a homerun out of the park with Vick in the Jacksonville game. It looked like he was just showing opposing teams, “Hey I can put him anywhere I want, try and stop me.”
I want to see some traditional QB play from Vick in this next game anyway, save the gimmicks for the regular season.

Week 3 would be interesting
and how kind of Roger to help us out with the 53-man, so we can send Feeley to the Pats or what
I kind of expected it to be more of a fustercluck that lasted the whole 6 weeks … and maybe even got us off the national radar for that long.
The flipside is, Mike’s only got 2 weeks to make apperances at animal shelters before he “decides to focus on football.”

Allowing him back in week 3 would allow the Eagles to move Feeley and go with two QBs for the first two weeks.

What's the rationale for a 2-game suspension?
Seriously. Assuming Sal Pal is right, how did Roger Goodell arrive at 2 games? What was the thought process? And I’m not saying 2 games is too much, or too little… But how did this one person arrive at 2 games?
Should Goodell explain each suspension? I’d like to see it, because i see absolutely no rhyme or reason to these decisions, and am 100% uncomfortable with this guy ruling on matters like he’s some sort of dictator.

Yeah it is a pretty arbitrary number.

If you don’t count the two years he’s already missed.

AGREE 100%
I think he should have some sort of committee to help him determine the punishment for crime, kinda like a checks & balance system.

Well, the problem with that is that in the most recent CBA negotiations they gave the commish the power to arbitrarily decide things. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the union try to get that back in this next round of negotiations. I would think giving the owners a true rookie salary system and the owners giving the union a say on player punishment would help out everyone.

Vick will likely be reinstated immediately.
Check it out. Via “two sources close to the situation,” for what it’s worth

I certainly don't mind
but I don’t see what he’s done to convince everybody he’s a changed man, beyond have a thoroughly convincing press conference.
I thought he was going to have to take his six weeks to fade off the national radar, do community work and then spring into action against the Redskins on MNF to give us a jolt.
But this is fine too.

Lurie convinced me pretty well that Vick gets the boot if he doesn’t pick his shit up really fast. Because he is still on the team, sounds like Lurie has been convinced otherwise.
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

apparently he has done a decent amount. not ironic that we dont see any of what he has done on the news….i am not saying when he should or shouldnt be back. just saying..

i know theres alot of Vick hype , but i honestly hope Mcnabb stays healthy and starts and finishes all the games , i am not against putting vick in for some cool plays here and there , but d-mac is still the man …

Why not give him 3 game / 4 week suspension?
I agree that the suspension time frame is arbitrary. However, I think it would be inconsistent for him to re-instate him without some punishment (not counting obvious incarceration time).
This way Eagles could choose their option for him to practice but have two weeks to get him ready for Game 4 / Week 5. Suspension is long enough to hurt but gives plenty of time to get Vick into the rest of the season.
If I could get something for Feeley I would do it. Although I would look into finding a good PS QB just in case Vick decides to get re-suspended.

Vick is scheduled to meet with Roger Goodell Today
Sounds like we might hear Roger’s ruling sooner than we thought. It’ll be nice to know no matter what it is so that the Eagle’s can make roster decisions accordingly.
