Anybody Wanna Feeley ?

Eagles backup QB A.J. Feeley on the market… have the Patriots joined the derby? (Updated!)

A.J.Here’s an interesting — and completely unsurprising — development… Eagles quarterback A.J. Feeley is officially on the trading block. A reserve behind Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb, Feeley really got squeezed when Michael Vick signed.

Now, according to this article, Feeley is on his way out. He seemed diplomatic about it, saying, “I think (coach Andy Reid) will find the best situation for me, if it comes to that.”

How does this affect the Patriots?

Feeley is getting serious interest from the Pats, a bunch of people tell The Rap Sheet. They are not the only team to be interested.

With the release of Kevin O’Connell, the team is, at least, thoroughly investigating its options in searching for a fourth to join starter Tom Brady and backups Andrew Walter and Brian Hoyer.

[Updated: The 49ers released Damon Huard, another possibility for the Pats.]

Coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t say as much today, but added, “Am I saying there’s going to be no more player movement? No.”

It’ll be interesting to see if the Eagles deal Feeley before Vick becomes eligible to play or after. Would they leave themselves short-handed for a good deal?

When you mention the guys to take O’Connell’s spot, Feeley comes up, as does Huard, Cleo Lemon, and Chiefs reserve Tyler Thigpen. Feeley is the most accomplished and would be the most sought after. Mitts and FeeleyHe actually has a 4-1 record as a starter.

Of course, Belichick and Reid are close, and Belichick does like dealing with his boys. Remember, Reid and Belichick were involved in the deal for Greg Lewis. Oh, the Rams are also interested, apparently.

Also, if this does end up happening (and apparently the Eagles are asking for a lot), it’ll mean Brady won’t have the only famous wife. Feeley is engaged to soccer star Heather Mitts, who was previously named ESPN.com’s hottest female athlete.

Want to know which team Mitts plays for? The Boston Breakers.

How ’bout that?

He has a 4-1 record in Philly, not overall. His stint in Miami wasn’t pretty.

Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(

With McNabb being here for 2+ more years, and Vick a capable backup, i am not opposed to keeping Feeley around for Insurance and getting rid of Kolb. You have to think that our QB situation between Vick and McNabb can have us taken care of over the next 4 or so years….so how long do we keep Kolb sitting there?
I am not saying the Kolb doesnt have the tools to become a starter on this team eventually….but how long down the road will that be, and could we get more for him now rather than feeley?

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Detroit Lions...

Now that Daunte is hurt and they have nobody else besides Stafford maybe they are looking for a good QB. Im sure Daunte will be back in a couple weeks but as of right now Feeley could compete with Stafford.

I guess I’m the only one here that doesn’t want them to trade Feeley?

My father tells me today how utterly sad he is hearing the news today because — as my dad said “AJ is my favorite Eagle” LMAO
