Why so angry, Shawn Andrews?
This article about Shawn Andrews was TOO much, especially the Gatorade comment - Gotta love the Inquirer columnists. I know that this guy is receiving a bunch of blow up spots on BGN recently, and I just thought to post this after a recent fan discussion about how many haters comment on here and youtube videos etc - Literally, that was the cause for him writing this article. Go Eagles

The entire problem here is that Andrews acknowledges the criticism. Andrews is certainly not the first athlete to be criticized for his performance (or lack thereof), nor will he be the last. He perpetuates it by feeling the need to respond, and that is the only reason this is receiving so much attention.
Elite athletes who make more money in a few months than the average fans will make in a lifetime understand that harsh criticism comes with the territory. Most are smart enough to ignore it however. You hear athletes all the time talk about how they don’t read the local papers, watch Sportscenter, etc. I don’t know how true that actually is, but at least they portray it that way to the public.
By responding to these comments (from freaking youtube for chrissakes), Andrews is showing just how insecure and immature he is. More importantly then getting back on the field, Andrews just needs to grow up, period.

We are the Eagles. . .
this criticism is pretty much what we do. If you excel, we applaud louder than anybody; if you don’t excel, or have been out for a season with depression, back issues and clam to us that you are back and ready . . .and then something comes up again, we start to question you. If those questions aren’t answered or we don’t see progress we get fed up and start to criticize until we see improvement.
Stop being a baby and do what your job and the millions of dollars we pay you to do and play some f*cking football. . . .the EAGLES way!!!

no one had a problem with the nickname "big kid"
until now…
how ironic of a moniker is that?

He just wants attention
He should just shut up and play, or shut up and go away. No one wants to hear from a whiny punk who talks about how great he is and then fails to deliver.
You’re a wonderful man for thinking of your family? That’s fantastic. Now be quiet. I’m an Eagles fan, not an Andrews-familly fan.

There’s two sides to this.
Yes, Shawn Andrews, like it or not Big Kid, has given fans reason to doubt his commitment to football and/or his toughness.
No, that does not excuse fans using racial slurs and personnel attacks on the dude.
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
