On whether Kolb should start
Kolb
I think most Eagles fans would agree that Kolb is not ready for the job. I think that signing Garcia is a great move, especially if he has a good week at practice. But the Eagles are not going to carry four QBs on their roster. They need a tight end and now that Shawn Andrews is out for the year a backup tackle also. We know from last year's performance Kolb does make mistakes and can hold the ball a little too long, and he showed that again on Sunday by fumbling twice. Jeff Garcia is the better quarterback and he has proved it. Should he get the start? No. The Eagles firmly believe that he or Vick will be the face of the franchise after McNabb's contract expires. The Eagles have the option to retain Vick for a second year and if they do it will be for good reason because he will be earning 5 mil. Kolb should keep the backup job for at least some of this year until Vick is back at 100% and knows the offense. (Take a peek at this for what Vick can do when hes back in shape: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d35rPD_bBgc&feature=related) I firmly believe Vick will return to Pro Bowl form by next year and will be the starter in 2011.

Face of the franchise?

Sorry, but I just don’t think there is any truth to that. I am excited at the thought of Vick starting, but I don’t think the Eagles signed him with any intention of making him the face of the franchise.

Vick will be whatever
he makes of himself here.
Starter, backup, situational guy… Depending upon how he progresses and behaves will determine what he becomes in philly.

I completely agree with you
I just don’t think he will ever be the “face of the franchise”.

I truely believe we picked him up for wildcat and to get him prepared for the game… but most importantly so he increases in value and we trade him for something big.

I think we as fans owe it to the players to let them show what they can do. We haven’t been able to see a well-practiced Kolb start/continue/end a game. Let him get his rhythm going and hopefully a good run game and good defense can more than make up for Kolb’s lack of proven ability this week.

agreed
Kolb has only seen game action three times in the regular season his whole career. 1st against the rams(week1) last year. Then against the ravens, and finally against this panthers this weekend. his career completion % is 53.3. mcnabbs is 58.9. zero touchdowns versus 4 ints, giving him a rating of 25.0. Ouch right? no! he hasnt game planned for any game and if you have ever seen him play he NEVER takes shots downfield, minus the one he tried to jackson yesterday. he loves the checkdowns and when he does look downfield he waits too long. im sure that if mcnabb isnt ready to go the coaches will work with him on this. Im sure if he knows he is the starter going in he will be a lot more confident then we have seen from him coming i various times during mop up duty. Give him a chance. I know the organization will. they need justification for his 2nd round resume. They want to see what they really have in him. Hey ive doubted justice, and kolb for that matter, but he can only prove of wrong. If justice can do it, he can. Its all MENTAL.

He played in more regular season games, if you don’t count taking knees – McNabb got injuried against the Steelers and he was in for that game last year.

this is Kolb's shot
full week of practice with the 1s, soft D, home crowd
if he starts, which i think he should, he will be rightfully judged for his performance, no excuses
RIP JJ & HK

agreed, this is his chance to prove me wrong. I hope he does well – if not… put Garcia in

a lot of Kolbs picks weren't his fault during those games.
They were passes that the WR allowed to bounce off their padds and float up in the air. I can recall about 3 of those.

Kolb will be ok
Let him go out there the first half then depending on how he plays we may or may not see garcia…
The saints defense is OK at best, this should be a good week for kolb to showcase his abilities with this high powered offense..
But I think that often times Kolb becomes shell shocked in games, he need to relax. Also idk about him but I would be kinda weirded out with the talent that surrounded me.
