Shawn Andrews on IR
It turns out that all this discussion about the "other" Andrews brother, where we did not speak his name anymore, is officially on the IR List, ending his season for 2009. This came from an Eagles txt I received earlier today. A lot of us were right and his back was a serious problem and he needed to take the time to let it heal. Hopefully he can get back healthy and return next season at 100% mentally and physically. Winston Justice will continue starting and this officially makes room for Jeff Garcia to return to our team to start practicing.

Hey, I went to Magerk’s on Sunday and drove around Fed hill for an hour with no success for parking. I left and went back to my area. I’m gonna try and head up the next time the Ratbirds don’t play at the same time as us.

I was in Charlotte for the opening game.
Some advice for next time….park for free in Canton/Fells and take a 10 dollar cab over. I have driven over there before and always end up paying for parking, or getting a ticket. I’ll just take the cab, and know what i get!
this is kinda buried, so i dont even know that you’ll see this.

ever think that maybe, just maybe
there’s a reason that nobody has signed runyan yet, 2 weeks into the season? Could it possibly be that teams weren’t impressed by a 36 year old tackle with bad legs who can’t keep up with pass rushers anymore?
If the Eagles sign him, he is a BACKUP. B A C K U P .
And probably below Stacy Andrews on the depth chart. They would sooner slide Stacy out to play RT and promote MJG to RG, or wait until Herremans gets back and move Nick Cole to the other side of Jamaal.

Winston did well for our 1st game of the season .. .
but are we really going to count on this guy for the rest of the season????
Remember, we are forced into this hand of playing Winston. We all were going to take an 80% Shawn Andrews of Winston until we found out Shawn was placed on the IR.
I have my doubts about Winston but i wish (and pray) for his best play ever to happen all season. But I must say that having Runyan behind him or knowing he’s available if Winston does repeat his Giants game performance, I will be able to sleep much better at night.

Justice
Played really well against a tough Carolina D. This wasn’t an easy game for the O-Line and together, as a unit…they were AWESOME!
I’ll take continuity at this point…and if that means Justice, he’s my man!
"What did it feel like? That collision, I didn't feel nothing, because he was pretty much defenseless. It was like running through a cardboard box. Seriously. Cardboard box."- Sheldon Brown on his pounding of Reggie Bush in the '06 Playoffs
Urgh! Shawn Andrews is such a waste . . .

My guess is Reid tried hard to trade Hank or Reggie and had no takers. I wonder what the asking price was, and if there were any offers that we refused.
At this point, I think Runyan would serve us better in the long run than 7 WR’s.
My question is...
How do all these rumors keep getting out that the Eagle’s are trying to trade Baskett and/or Brown?
SalPal reporting that stuff is screwing our chances of dealing one of them. The bottom line is obviously we can’t have 7 WRs so one of them will not be on this team. We need to take what we can get… a 7th rounder? A 5th rounder in 2011? Whatever… just get it and move on.
this isn't new, the Jets inquired on Basket in the preseason,
but the Eagles price was too high.
Lets face it guys, they will not cut a WR because they beleive they can get value in return for that player. Once they trade a WR (they will just sign a player from the practice squad for depth).
I think Brown is the hardest to move, because if we trade him, we take a 5 mil hit on the cap, and the new team has to pay him 3 mil a year. Thats a tough sell.
Curtis is the a sexy trade, because he is set to make 5 mil next year, only 1 mil guaranteed. So he is unlikely to make 5 mil as a # 4 receiver, since I beleive Maclin will start and Avant will retain his slot position. But the Eagles may not be sold on trading him unless they get a #2 or #3 pick for him. Since he has value to the team this year, his is a good compliment for Curtis this you. You would have to blow the Eagles away to make a trade, and you will have to be prepared to pay Curtis 5 mil next year, unless his deal is redone (Which is unlikely), so he is just destined to get cut.
Basket is the easest to trade, he is good enough to be a #2 or #3 receiver in the league, and he comes cheap. There no cap hit, and the new team will have to pay him little. That makes him the most likely to be traded. Plus he comes with an uber hot wife.
Gibson, Maclin, Avant, and Jackson are untouchable. You would have to offer first round picks for Jackson, Maclin, and you must offer a 3rd rounder for Avant or Gibson.
That is why Basket is being shoped.

Mad
I’m not going to say Shawn Andrews “Sucks” because when healthy (or when he has the desire to play) he’s a supremely talentedOT with phenominal physical ability. The problem is, he doesn’t want to play football. I understand how a lot of you are defending him sayinbg that a back issue is debilitating for a big man – no arguement there. BUT, he was medically cleared by doctors to play twice – as in after x-rays, MRI’s, whatever they had to do, came up with no reason why he shouldn’t be able to play. Rather than taking it slow and doing his best to get back in there, he decided to rest it and eventually shut it down. Now if I called my work and said I have the swine flu (example, I know it’s totaly unrelated, point is I can’t be at work) and am unable to perform my job, and later they saw me posting all kinds of youtube videos and generally having a good time, that wouldn’t sit well and I’d receive the ire of A LOT of my colleagues and clients. So stop being so shocked as to why fans are so pissed off.
I can’t understand why we haven’t parted ways with Reggie Brown. The guy does nothing for us – no special teams, doesn’t get on the field offensively…. why would we consider cutting/trading Baskett instead? Let’s package Reggie Brown and Shawn Andrews to the Jets for Matt Slauson.
Its has nothing to do with talent,
Maybe someone can go over the whole contract issue with you. But it has everything to due with taking a 5 million dollar cap hit by cutting him. We all know he was unlikley to get cut because of that contract. Likely, Curtis is 99% gonna get cut next year, because his contract reads 4 mil base, 1 mil guaranteed.
Someone may want to go over the specifics with you to help you understand that.
Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!
Hank Baskett
has a $5M cap #? Because the only person i mentioned getting cut was Baskett as that’s what I read a couple of days ago.
Official
posted on the team website http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/team/transactions.html
so the 2nd piece of this will be interesting because we know Eagles Mgt does not like to admit they made an error in judgement….
(1) sign Ruynan (and admit they should have kept him anyway and still keep 7WRs?)
(2) release R.Brown (can’t seem to trade him and his $3M or just eat the $5M)
(3) ???
Signing Runyan (if it were to happen) has nothing to do with an error in judgement. He will likely cost less than he would have earlier in the offseason, and will likely only see the field (if he does at all) because of injuries to both Andrews and Justice.
They didn’t need him. An injury changed things. Due to the cap and roster limitations you can’t just have whoever you want just in case. Eagles made the right move whether he comes back or not. (Also he’s old and coming of surgery and may or may not even be a competent lineman right now)
Eagles put Shawn Andrews on IR

Well, the good news is that the Eagles won’t have to trade receiver Hank Baskett in order to create a roster spot for Jeff Garcia.
The bad news is that Shawn Andrews won’t participate in a single regular-season snap this year for the Eagles — he has been placed on injured reserve.
The move means that Andrews will have played in only two games in two years, and it will raise questions as to whether he’ll ever play for the Eagles again. He suffered a back injury during a Week Two Monday-nighter in Dallas, and he didn’t return at any point during the rest of the regular season or the postseason.
The injury came after he spent most of the training camp AWOL, due to a bout of clinical depression.
This year, his back flared up early in training camp. He eventually returned, but then the injury popped up again, and that was that.
Last week, the Eagles brought in veteran Jon Runyan for a workout. Runyan also has visited the Chiefs and the Bills.
So it still might be wise for the Eagles to trade Baskett, in order to create a roster spot for Runyan.

What a joke...
Way to salvage your image with the fans Shawn. Talk a whole bunch of shit about how your gonna beast people and you can’t even get on the field. Please, just stop talking and you will be hated less…but you will still be hated thanks to all the frustrations you have caused us fans and the team for that matter…
what a waste of talent…

Amen. F*ck that dude…njured or not. He didn’t have the heart to play the game anymore. Talked all manner of sh*t and then left the team out to dry, again.
If he wasn’t such a crybaby 2 years ago his back might never have been hurt, because he wouldn’t have missed camp. Like I’ve said all along, he keeps talking and talking about how great he is and that he’ll be back soon. I never want to hear anything about this fool. Get him the hell out of town.
Okay so maybe it's time to move on. Hopefully it'll be moving on to winning a Championship!
Stop begging for Runyan
you people are masochists, I swear. Go watch footage of Runyan from the NFCCG and tell me with a straight face you’d rather have that guy protecting McNabb than the 24 year old who has legs that still work.
He has missed more games than he played.
But was still a 3X probowler. Sucks.
Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!
Did anyone hear about MJG? I saw him head to the locker room during the game, but I didn’t hear anything about what happened to him.
I didn't hear anything.

Upon hearing this news, YouTube through Google issued an IPO to raise capital for additional servers and bandwith. They’re expecting an increase in content from the discontented.

Agreed, slim chance he’s able to lay off those Reese’s 100 calorie packs.

PUP?
Couldn’t Shawn have been put on the PUP prior two Week1? That would’ve gave him 6 weeks to get his back (and head) right and he wouldn’t have been counted against the 53 man roster.
Obvioulsy, it’s a moot point now, but just curious if that was still possible last Thursday when he was ruled out against Carolina.
He played coach Reid! I think he wanted to do that, but Shawn was talking about
“Beasting” Peppers.

How do we know this wasn’t all Big Reds idea? Can you see Shawn saying “No coach, I can play… just wait a couple weeks… I’ll be back to 100% soon enough… you can count on me” And Big Red said “doub it, you’ll be on IR until you can get your act together.” lol I would of loved to see the discussion between those two. Everyone says its all Shawns heart, this and that, I wonder if he thought this was inevitable or really wanted to prove himself… interesting.

hmmmmmmmmm i thought shawn said he was gonna definetly be ready? what happened man!
eff you we winning anyway
Damn yo
the Shawn Andrews hate is strong.
I’m really not that broken up about it. Disappointed. Hope to see the kid back in a birds uniform in a stable manner.
Not sure why there should be any rush to part ways. He’s done for this year (unless the conspiracy theory is right) and his contract, even though it runs through 2015, doesn’t have much dead money on it after 2010.
So let’s just see what the deal is for next season, and roll with who we have now. Make a call on Shawn then.

Good
I cant stand this stupid idiot. He has no heart and never will. The doctor granted him medial clearence at the end of the preseason, and he still doesnt play. Hes a pussy and we all know we will never see him in midnight green and thank god. Go steal money from another team fag.
