Position Battles
Hi to all those who remember me from way back when this site used to be all of 25 people. I'm glad to see the site grow so much.
Lets Get down to business. here is the list of the current position battles.
Offense;
the 2nd RB spot. With Westbrook out we have had alot of time to look at Booker and McCoy
The 2nd/3rd/4th Receiver spot. We can assume Jackson is our #1 and probably Curtis is the 2 but there we can still see a surprise. but where does Avant and Maclin fall.
Tight End. we seen to be going with Celic but who is #2 and i dont trust Celic to be a true #1 until he has good competition. Ingram is gone for the season so whats next?
Finally who is our go-to guy for a back up O-lineman. we know all the starters but what if one goes down and we know all about Andrews health. it seems like Justice is stepping up but how far?
Defense;
2nd D-End. who is famous rotation guy. who are we subbing in to give Cole and Parker a break. Abiamiri did amazing last year but is missing camp again. We also must not forget about Clemons improvement at the end of last year. and the we also have Howard who has been good as well.
Back up Linebackers. at the start of the season i was excited about our status at the LB position however after Bradley went down all of the sudden i dont know who is next after Gaither.
Safeties..... Quintin Mikell is with out a doubt one of our safeties. at the eagles site he is listed at an Unofficial Strong safety and madden has him as our free safety but either way hi is playing on our starting D. now with Sean Jones and Quintin Demps who fills the other spot.
Now i in no way shape of form have an answer to any of these battles but some people here might. To those who have been at camp or following the camp closer than i have who is winning what? I along with many people here would love to know some insight. to all others who have opinions lets hear them.

FUK PETERKING THE WALKIN JINX
ok, u can check out the depth charts that were just released on the birds official website, however by no means is this depth chart final. However that being said there is virtually no chance wat soever of SHADY not being the #2 back behind WESTY. BOOKER could hav the greatest preseason ever and it still wont matter, MCCOY is our backup halfback and will take many snaps with thefirst team during the season.
As far as the o-line goes there r a lot of ? marks here. Wat will be the status of SHAWN ANDREWS ? WILL we bring back BIG JON RUNYAN? We might not hav a choice, and as far as WINSTON MR. 5 SACKS ALLOWED IN A GAME goes i dont trust him as far as i can throw him. That being said i think we hav a VERY VERSATILE and up and comer in NICK COLE.
With the other dline position the site has VICTOR listed as the starter but who knows with him, i dont see why we dont let HOWARD start.
FINALLY i think the organization is really pushing 4 DEMPS 2 win the position which he will barring any unforseen happenings

i still think mikell starts at free safety.
having sean jones around to plug in at strong safety is just too convenient. i just think demps needs another year to learn. demps to me seems more like a corner/safety tweener. i want physicality in my secondary. demps was never a big hitter in college. his skills may have improved in the last 2 years, but when you a got a guy with 14 picks in 3 years, and he can hit…you play him.

Didnt we have an admired safety who left recently and hit and got several picks. We let him go mainly because his coverage skills were lacking. I mean he could force turnovers like a madman but I’d rather have someone who could cover. And I think that Demps’ speed would be better.
Unless Mikell is FS then this is null and void, because SS are around the line of scrimmage more than the former.
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.

demps tackles like a cornerback.
he’s a low striker. at this point we don’t know if he covers better or not. i’m saying i would feel a lot better about mikell covering the backend. bring demps in like they did last year….let him learn the system. i haven’t heard a single thing yet about demps having a outstanding training camp. i’m sure they’ll use more 3 safety sets this year. he’ll find a way to play. i simply think mikell at free safety is the way to go.

Why the lack in faith for Celek?
The guy is a stud, he contributed a ton in the 2nd half of the season and playoffs
I think the guy is a sleeper stud- no one but Eagle fans see just how good he is (no acussing you of not being a fan NickP)
RIP JJ

i just dont like how he blocked. receiving hes been great(still needs some improvement) but if he was a better blocker alot of those goal line situations would of been alot different

well, hopefully if our revamped O-Line ever gets healthy and plays together, we won’t need to rely heavily on celek to do the blocking down there.

The Receiving Core.....
Jackson will be the 1, Curtis will be a split end, but not necessarily our #2, that’s Avant who will be used in the slot, but will get stats like that of a #2. Maclin and Baskett will fill in for Curtis on some plays, depending on the situation. If he doesn’t get cut in favor of Gibson (who will be used the same) Brown will be prominent in our bunch packages, like he was last year.

makes sence
we all can see how Curtis is gone after next year considering he is due something like 9 million with only 1 million guaranteed so unless he restructues he is out of a job so im sure Andy will want to see avant and maclin playing 2 and 3 alot more than usual.
