"Eff you... We're winning anyway!"

Jim Johnson died, Stewart Bradley tore an ACL and will be lost for the season, ditto Cornelius Ingram, Shawn Andrews can't seem to stay on a football field longer than 10 minutes, Juqua Parker and Todd Herremans are driving around with weed and some local skanks with their headlights out in the shadiest van I've ever seen, Jeremy Maclin was more than a week late to camp...

(Wait, hang on - let me catch my breath... One more second - I also need a sip of water... OK, continuing...)

Victor Abiamiri is missing camp again, Andy Reid threw a tamper tantrum reminiscent of a 6-year-old because some reporters were doing their job, we apparently lost out to the Pats to acquire a nice pass rusher in Derrick Burgess, DeSean Jackson hyperextended his knee, Jason Peters and Ellis Hobbs have missed valuable time while trying to learn a new system... Am I missing anything?

And you know what?  The Eagles are STILL quite clearly one of the 2 best teams in the NFC.

Star-divide

Wait, are they?  (Thinking... Vikings?  No QB.  Falcons/Saints/Packers?  No defense.  Cowboys?  Please.  Panthers?  Ehh.  Bears?  Negative.)  Yup, I guess they are.  So lets not go jumping off the Ben Franklin bridge quite yet.  In fact, from this point forward, I'd like to officially take an "EFF you, we're winning anyway" mentality.

So let's take one last look at the horrible things that have occured this camp...

  46085

...and now let's move forward.

In fact... One at a time... Let me see you all post "EFF you (or some other colorful phrase), we're winning anyway!"

Well Done!!

This is very reassuring. We’re still the team to beat in the NFC. Let’s run down the teams.

Bears: Nope
Bucs: Don’t make me laugh
Cardinals: no D
Cowboys: Seriously?
Falcons: Lack of defense
Giants: Our clone. Only team I’m scared of.
Lions: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Packers: NO
Panthers: Probably not
Rams: Yeah, and Pluto’s a planet.
Redskins: No way
Saints: Not enough defense
Seahawks: Negative
Vikings: QB
Niners: Nope.

We can still be legit contenders.

Do something about that 28th ranked scoring offense, and then we’ll talk.

young proven secondary

Proven? The safeties are OK, but the corners are total garbage…

- 2 REALLY bad teams gave up on Deangelo Hall in less than a calendar year.

- Carlos Rogers has 6 career picks in 4 seasons.

- Fred Smoot’s INT totals by season since he was a rookie… 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1. It’s almost like the New Year’s Eve ball at Times Square is dropping but needs some WD40.

Lost a step QB? Now, I know you have no idea what you are talking about.

Hmmm…Jason Campbell vs. Donavon McNabb. I wonder, if I were to ask almost any intelligent football fan who they would rather have as their QB, who they would choose. My bet? Most ppl. pick McNabb considering he is coming off of takng his team to the NFC Championship game and Campbell has spent his career as nothing more then a waste of space.

by Mitchell Green on Aug 12, 2009 9:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes, McNabb is better than Jason Campbell, where did i say that he wasn’t?
McNabb has lost a step, you can’t tell me he is as quick or deadly when he gets out of the pocket as he used to be. He is inconsistent and injury prone, but when he is on, he is one of the best qb’s in the league.

Why are you trying to make this a campbell/mcnabb debate?

by travisjh86 on Aug 12, 2009 9:31 AM EDT up reply actions

I have only seen McNabb scramble

like 10-15 times since he tore up his knee, he doesnt have to scramble, Our OL is going to make Haynesworth bend over and take it up the ass…

McNabb started trying to focus on Passing the football instead of running, and he can still roll out and be effective, but he is definantly Quick and Deadly in the passing game and thats all that matters to me.

by wild_eagle on Aug 12, 2009 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions

You didn’t say Campbell was better than McNabb but you do think that the Redskins are going to be good football team this year. Behind Campbell, they won’t be, no matter how “dominant” you think the over paid Haynesworth will be.

And honestly, McNabb is still more than capable of scrambling quite impressively. The reason that I would say that McNabb has NOT lost much of a step is because while be may not scramble as much, though still capable, his arm is the most accurate it has ever been. He has matured into one of the more consistent and and yes BEST QBs in the NFL.

by Mitchell Green on Aug 12, 2009 8:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Ah, missed your comment about your line.

Please tell me you’re not believing the hype of the andrews brothers and jason peters.
Peters will get worked in the beast, he wasn’t even that great with the bills. He has had one good year, two years ago. The guy gave up 11.5 sacks, the most of any left tackle last year, and if you say it’s because he didn’t care because he wasn’t getting paid then that just shows you his great attitude that he just added to your line. It’s just the popular thing to think the eagles o-line is amazing this offseason when in fact it is not. You all should kept runyan (getting him back now right?) and thomas and tried to upgrade your o-line in the draft next year. Overrated.

Time will tell though, if he pans out and makes it happen for the eagles, I will come back here and apologize.

by travisjh86 on Aug 12, 2009 8:30 AM EDT up reply actions

The guy gave up 11.5 sacks

I’m willing to bet you didn’t watch a single Bills game last year. Edwards held on to the ball way to long, he didn’t do Jason Peters any favors. I’m willing to bet holding out of training camp hurt his conditioning too but it’s not an excuse.

We don’t want your apologies we were once at the bottom of the NFC east and we know how hard it is on you.

I’m willing to bet that I did watch a few Bills games last year, not at my will, only because I have some friends that are bills fans though ha. You can put some of the blame on trent but not all of it, some of those sacks peters was getting blown by.
Holding out of training camp is not an excuse, if i do remember correctly the bills had a great start to the season? So that would mean that Peters was probably doing quite well in the begining of the season, then fell off like the rest of the team did last year.

by travisjh86 on Aug 12, 2009 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions

some of those sacks peters was getting blown by.

LOL please show me some tape of this. If a DE runs around wide its the QBs job to step up in the pocket, we learn this in pee wee.

I invite you to take a look at some facts and then form your opinion. Now I know this is new to you but give it a try. You make fun of Bye Dawk for judging a Corner on INTs alone but you are doing the same to Peters. Not to mention Peters strength is in the run game.

You just showed yourself footage of him getting beat. bad.
Fact is, in some of those sacks, Peters got blown by. I see Trent stepping up in the pocket like he’s supposed to as well. So why are you arguing that?

Your team is pass happy so why would they go get a left tackle that’s strength is run blocking, not pass protection.

Uh huh Peters will kill orkopo and Haynesworth in one play

And you overrate your DL because you have Haynesworth, the guy is just fucking fat, he will die mid-way through the season from his obesity..and J. Jackson and Heremans/St. Andrews will handle haynesworth, on the rare times he actually puts pressure on Dmac he can just roll out and Djax deep as he makes your CB’s look stupid.

Let’s not go to far Haynesworth is good, 100 million good … meh … but he does make plays. And Orakpo IMO was the best 4-3 DE in the draft.

I’m all for arguing Xs and Os but I expect other fans to respect our players and I shall do the same for them.

Based on your comments, wherever you came from is trash. Yeah let’s make a joke involving another team’s injuries, that’s really funny right? Stay classy man.

Second, you all are talking shit too, who’s to say I can’t have fun also?

Hey man I don’t mind shit talking if it’s all in good fun, but making a joke out of injuries isn’t really that funny to me.

Third, I’m at work and I don’t feel like doing much work so I get on here and make little kids like you get angry over some simple comments

I’m a little kid….according to your username you’re 3 years older than me, wow. How about I go outside and play while the grown-ups talk about being deep in people’s assholes.

Yes, I used the “I can drink and you can’t” argument because it’s hilarious and I knew it would perturb you…
As for making fun of injuries, I used it as an insult to this article that states the injuries and losses won’t matter in the end, not to the players. I am not the fan that cheers when the opposing teams player gets hurt, I didn’t mean it in a cruel way, I was simply saying that your losses this offseason will hurt your team in the long run this year.

Please, let’s talk football.

by travisjh86 on Aug 11, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

In that case, yes the losses hurt, but not as bad as other NFC East fans might think. Our staff has always done a great job of creating depth, so that when an injury happens it’s more like a paper cut than an open wound. Non-Eagles fans see the headlines of who is injured, or who has been traded, and unfortunately who has passed away, but they don’t really see who is stepping in. For most of our losses so far, we have had great replacements waiting in the wings, it’s just a matter of chemistry now.

My two personal concerns are the offensive line and the tight end position. The offensive line has had a tough time getting on the field as a complete unit, but I have faith that they will be prepared when the season starts. I also have faith in Celek at the tight end position, and I hope we get some solid depth behind him soon.

Other than that, our offense is about as potent as its ever been, and our defense should be firing on all cylinders too. Sean Mcdermott has already said he will blitz heavily like his predecessor, and let’s not forget our defense will be operating under the “Win it for Jim” motivation this season. Last, our special teams should be in top form, as we have added a bunch of potential returners to last years squad. I’m not going to say we are perfect, but I do like our chances.

Your an idiot Travis...

we lost 1 starter, a b/u rookie TE and maybe Shawn Andrews for a few games although he has been practicing..

MLB will be ok cuz Mays and Gaither will fill the void there about 95%…

There is production to replace with the backup tight end cuz he was a rookie… We can make due with schobel and weaver.

Other than that there have just been sprains which are nothing major… The deadskins better watch out.

by wild_eagle on Aug 11, 2009 11:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm sorry you feel that way.

I wasn’t just talking about injuries alone, I was also talking about the loss of B Dawk and JJ. But I seriously doubt Mays or Gaither will fill the void 95% and I’m pretty sure alot of eagles fans will agree with me on that. The loss of Bradley, your play caller since b dawk is gone, is gone for the season as well now. Thats three huge losses in your defense, I know you all will say that you have replacements at safety but the fact remains dawkins brought something to the field that no mikkell or demps will be able to bring.
Your D will still be good, but not the at the level that it has been in the past.

Meh Gaither was a starter and IMO very good.

Bradley was the play caller last year, and before that Omar Gaither was so losing Dawk doesn’t hurt us in that sense. Gaither will do fine. Losing JJ will hurt but SM has been mentoring behind him and from what I hear was slated to be his successor anyway. If JJ has faith in him then so do I.

I think people are blowing the whole Dawkins thing out of the water. Yes he hyped everyone up and was loud and crazy and I love the man to death, but these are professional athletes. This is a part of their world and they have seen big time players move on many a time. They will survive although I’m sure they appreciate your pity.

No one likes to lose their MLB or DCoordinator

but if it has to happen, you might as well have your previous starting MLB and a guy your DCoord was grooming step in. We could definitely be worse off than Gaither and McDermott.

And Dawk was a vocal/spiritual leader and no one will take anything away from that. But Mikell/Jones/Demps bring a pretty diverse skill set, plus we’re guarded against a major injury.

I have a really good feeling about Sean Jones for some reason.

I have a really good feeling about Sean Jones for some reason.

His style of play reminds me of Dawkins at his age, he might not be as talented or he might have been handicapped in Cleveland. I’m really excited to see him in our Defense even though JJ won’t be pulling the strings :(

Well fine lets pick apart your shitty arguement...

1)

I was also talking about the loss of B Dawk and JJ

Well McDermott learned everything he knows from JJ, is there going to be a transition period? yes, is it going to be a long hard one? NO…
The loss of Bdawk sucks but Sean Jones has the ability to help with run support and can cover.. Demps is a good cover FS and we have to see how he hits… All this means is that Mikel can play like a real SS and help with run support which he is good at and Demps can cover people. And if jones is in there Mikell and jones can do everything.. We only lost leadership…

2)

I seriously doubt Mays or Gaither will fill the void 95% and I’m pretty sure alot of eagles fans will agree with me on that.

Umm no they wont because based on statistics Omar Gaither techniquly did better in 07 than Bradley did in 08.. Omar was better in the pass and just as good in the run. Mays hits like a truck and is a good 1st and 2nd down LB.

3)

The loss of Bradley, your play caller since b dawk is gone, is gone for the season as well now.

I just went over this above, you can just read that again and add to it that your a fucking moron, the MLB is always the play caller..

4)

the fact remains dawkins brought something to the field that no mikkell or demps will be able to bring

if you mean leadership Mikel is a good leader, Samuels is a good leader, Bunkley is an emotional leader(like dawk) and Omar is a good leader, We will have a leader by committee which is better just in case one goes down(knockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwoodknockonwood)

Oh and your last sentence was just stupid so Im not saying more on that.

You could make an arguement for both, Mike Portnoy is just unreal, but Danny Carey writes time signitures that never exsisted before in songs. Danny is my favorite drummer ever, the reason I started playing. Mike is just out there too. Love both bands. Tool is more spiritual to me, Dream Theater can write such awesome songs but can get overproduced and I feel they try to hard which can drain some of the meaning away for me.

Tool...spiritual...

if anything their songs bash religion. If anything DT’s songs are underproduced, and they don’t have Moore. Danny’s time signature’s are so unreal they seem like musical jibberish. Schism is just too deep of a song. If you haven’t you NEED to listen to DT’s new album, Black Clouds and Silver Linings. Best album since ToT IMO.

I thought they were suppose to move it back to Jan this year.

No matter, we have way more familiarity with SBs than the Eagles but I wont go there.

As far as the Romo McNabb debate. I think we are splitting hairs. Both good and neither fans would trade for the other. Both have the knock of not winning the big one.

Eagle fans like to play the Playoff card but if Tony had played with your D(and team) the last 10 years he would have more than 1 SB appearance and possibly a Lombardi. Blast him if you want, but he could have produced more with JJ as his DC for 10 years. Not to mention that running game and Westbrook a couple of years ago.

Can we get a Birds fan to do this?

Maybe with the Lombardi Trophy and “eff you, we’re winning anyway” inscirbed underneath.

Kirk Bradley, 25, has had a tattoo reading “Manchester City – Champions League Winners 2011”, along with a picture of the famous trophy, inked on to his right shoulder.

Bradley told the Daily Mirror: "I really believe we have the quality and the ambition to do it.

“All my mates think I’m crazy, but I don’t care. At least no one can doubt that I am a true fan.”

I’ll put 5 on it for whoever wants to get it!

This post is only 9 days old...

And it’s kind of funny how outdated it seems already.
