A Tribute to Mr. Opposite

While reading this post, please play the  "Real Men of Genious" theme song in your head.

Throught the past several months we have all shared our views on hundreds upon hundreds of topics.  Some about the current Eagles, some about prospects that could become Eagles, and others about Team dealings and Camp.  Throughout all of these talks, I would say that there is a Majority view, and a minority view.  Most of us end up on one side of the debate, while a select few defend the other.  We all seem to take our turns rotating into the "Minority" side of the debate depending on the subject...but that is not what this post is all about.   This post is to pay tribute to the one individual who confidently sides with the Minority on every single topic.  (In some cases, he IS the minority but that's beside the point.)   He defends his side endlessly without  a single statistic and will never compromise his own opinions when one of us provides facts to devalue his arguement!  This ones for you JIBTA!

First off, Yes i am poking fun of you, JIBTA, but it is all in good fun.  In fact, all i want to do is bring together some of your most outrageous comments and put them all together on this FanPost.  I'm just reposting your own words, so i dont know how you'll be able to argue!!!  (A first??)

For starters....The overused "BS" reply.   heres a few.....

Voted for Jack Ikegwuonu on Bleeding Green Nation - 08/06/09 10:24 PM PDT

The last one listed here isnt him saying that everyone else is biased.  It's HIM showing that HE is biased.  He voted for Jack on a day that everyone wrote that DJAX lit up camp!  Playing favorites JIBTA?

Lastly, I am going to touch on his Opinionfacts.  Yup, a new word just for JIBTA.  The definition, which will eventually be found in Websters, will read.  "Opinionfact: (verb); Description of strongheaded persons opinions that are only to be viewed as facts, despite lack of support.  Disagreement with an opinionfact will result in belittling, BS replies, and favoritism."

noo

put happ in the pen now .. get him used to being in there and pitching everyday .. hes not going to pitch in the playoffs anyways .. lee hamels blanton .. pedro or moyer may get one start .. but its going to be a 3 man rotation .. put happ in there now .. plus hes gotta be on a pitch count for the season .. hes going to break down soon .. and his stuff is not that good .. he projects as a 4th starter

I really like the last one posted above.   FredEx quickly replied to this comment that Vick had NEVER broken a run over 58 yards.  (A fact.)   Yet JIBTA continued his arguement and stayed on course!  Congrats, on your overwhelming amount of perseverance!

So in the end....I have to say that BGN has become a much more interesting place since March 28, 2009.  A day that i wont soon forget.   A day when one of the most Argumentative Screen Names was created.

Jack Is Better Than Asante, I salute you for continuing to start fights over every single topic that is spoken of here on BGN.  Your desire to disagree with the Majority is as predictable, as it is entertaining.....and i Thank You!

I enjoy arguing sports with people. However, people who are incredibly irrational and have no points to back up an argument are the the worst people to have a debate with. That’s JIBTA. Just banter and opinion. He doesn’t challenge points with any substance of his own. I don’t know why anyone praises him… Also after hearing him call pat tillman stupid and saying he has no respect for him for putting his country before himself kind of took me off the “JIBTA is amusing” train. I’ve been riding the JIBTA is a straight up P.O.S. train.

Bro

I could swear you were reading my mind because I was saving up comments by him to do the same thing. Some of the comments I saved up by JIBTA were:

*Reggie Brown is better than Curtis (he’s the best WR on the team)

*Patterson is OK. Laws will be better than Patterson.

*LeSean Mccoy is bad. Beanie Wells was the only stud running back of the draft.

*Celek is a back up at best.

*DeAngelo Williams is overrated/Stewart is the better RB

*T.O. is coming for you Rice/T.O. makes QBs better.

Good Job though. But you definitely read my mind. Thank you JIBTA for being here. We need retards like you to make comments like you do. Thats what makes sites like this.

Truthfully....

I do believe that Jack is not a good fit for our D. Don’t get me wrong. I think he’s a good CB, just in a Cover Two. Jack gets beat way to often for him to be good enough for our scheme. Of course, he is young and very undeveloped. I could see us getting a few picks off of Jack as an RFA a few years from now.

Here's Another One

About Westbrook and how he’s not a top-5 running back.

o bs

shut the hell up dude .. portis is not fragile .. he is durable .. he never misses games .. he got hurt one season .. westbrook is hurt every year .. so you are getting a guy for 12-14 games max .. so yea hes not that great .. he lost that cincy game by himself because he couldnt run over a bad D .. if we had a great back .. ala AP .. he runs for 150 and two tds .. we win .. AP is not on westys level ..you talk about tiers for rbs .. well AP LT (who i hate) jackson and portis are on their on tier .. jacobs is right there too .. williams was considered a bust until this year and thats why they drafted stewart .. competition made him realize that he better perform or lose his job .. now i like williams and liked him in college .. but he is not top 5 .. and i talk a lot about westy .. but hes better than williams .. and hes still top 10 .. so im not knocking him .. but if you can have westy or jackson or portis .. its not even a decesion .. its like mcnabb vs manning .. manning easy .. doesnt mean mcnabbs not good .. so westy is ranked from 7-10 .. some where in there .. thats where he belongs

by Imp on Aug 8, 2009 11:12 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly

how many of those are starters? exactly .. if your a starter and you average over 5 your a stud .. peterson and jacobs .. and even williams .. who i think is a lil overrated .. but the other guys get less carrys .. the more carrys the harder it is to maintain a 5.0 ypc .. if norwood gets 10 carries a game .. and breaks one for 40 .. then he has a 4.0 ypc just from that one play .. while if jacobs gets 20 carries he has to get over a 100 yards to maintain that average

in any other system hes not as good .. hes ok .. hes not better than peterson or steven jackson or portis .. theres three right there .. there are more i will argue .. but those are clearly better

by jack is better than asante on Aug 10, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Why is the system so vital? Any reason other than his size?

In 2006 (07 was close) he had better rushing numbers than Jacobs. Yes, that’s rushing. Not all purpose. Rushing. More yards with a better yards per carry. Did I mention that was rushing?

by FredEx on Aug 10, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Peterson isnt an all purpose back, Jackson isnt

either and Portis is close enough to count…

By all purpose back I say they can run, catch, line up anywhere and be good at it all…

Westbrook fits that mold,

Well quite frankly

Max Jean is already a pretty good guard. Reggie already had a good season (then completely fell from grace) and Jack will become a good corner at the most…..nothing elite though, maybe like another Sheldon. I think your correct on westbrook being the 7th best pure runningback, but as an all-purpose back hes probably top 3. Great to hear from ya JIBTA.

by wild_eagle on Aug 8, 2009 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Dude im 17..

I watched maclin play and I watch crabtree play.. ALOT

I think that the system Crabtree was in helped him look better than he was. No im not saying he isnt good He is a damn good athlete and in my opinion should be good at the pro level. But he is just a WR and cannot help in other area’s.

Then Maclin is a good WR also, he was in a pass happy system to and produced big numbers. He could turn a tiny screen play into an amazing play. I also liked the fact that he could lower his pads and “truck” someone when he needed to and then Had the speed to out run everyone when he needed too… Not to mention he can return Kicks and punts, so he not only helps at WR he helps at KR/PR.

Then you look at the system, Maclin IMO fit our system alot better than Crabtree, then look at the fact that Crabtree was hurt and didnt really do anything outside of his college games that helped with decision making.. Also you have to take into account that Maclin runs alot faster than Crabtree..

In short Maclin was a better fit for our system, and other things such as the ability to return punts/kicks factored in… Also I knew whoever took Crabtree once he fell out of the top 4 was still going to have to give him top 5 money or he was going to hold out.. And I saw alot of TO in him, and that was a major no-no.

Eh, I don’t really disagree but potential is iffy. Look at Steve Smith. Theoretically Jackson could be number one. I don’t buy that at all, but like I said, potential can be weird

Hope ur right

Issac Bruce will probably end up in the HOF. Hope Desean geys there also

what!!

andre johnson and jackson arnt even close .. andre johnson is top 5 in the nfl .. desean is maybe top 20 .. maybe .. and crabtree is a far superior talent than maclin .. i like maclin .. but hes not going to be a dominant probowler .. he could be a good wr .. and make a probowl or two .. but hes not going to be the dominant probowler who makes it everyyear and is one of the best in nfl

by jack is better than asante on Aug 8, 2009 11:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Well potential wise I would like to see jackson develope as an eagle rather

switch him for A. Johnson.. They can have the rest and it could be Andre and Djax…

You cant really say whether or not Crabtree or Maclin are going to be perenial Probowlers.. You cant even say if any of them will be the best in the NFL…

And you boy TO didnt have the expectations to be a Pro-bowl caliber WR, and he didnt have the expectations to be a top tier WR.. Neither did Jacobs. Neither did Tom Brady or Kurt Warner…

by wild_eagle on Aug 9, 2009 12:01 AM EDT up reply actions

but hes not going to be the dominant probowler who makes it everyyear and is one of the best in nfl

So Crabtree will?

His college system, lack of superior height, attitude, injury concern, and potential lack of speed and separation don’t worry you at all?

by FredEx on Aug 9, 2009 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

See and you need to look at the systems there going to be in

Crabtree assuming he signs with the 49ers wont have a QB, has no mentor to show him the way, and there a run first system…

Maclin is a potential perfect fit for the eagles west coast offense, if he is a fit he is the perfect weapon to spread the ball to. You also have to take into account that Djax will take alot of pressure off of him by drawing the double team etc. at least of now anyway.

by wild_eagle on Aug 9, 2009 12:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Um…49ers have Issac Bruce. He’s a future HOFer. I’m sure he would be able to mentor Crabtree.

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.

False. This stemmed from your apparent pre-draft opinion wanting Maclin over Crabtree. Either player would benefit if the D pays extra attention to Jackson.

Kind of forgot this took that turn in there.

Admittedly, there have been rookies that I was convinced were ‘locks’.

I however, do not give that nod to Crabtree.

by FredEx on Aug 10, 2009 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions

How is Crabtree “clearly elite” when he haven’t played a snap yet? As of right now, both Maclin and Crabtree’s career is o catches for 0 yards and no touchdowns.

First off all:

The whole draft thing is unpredictable. Busts happen.

Crabtree has plenty of question marks. I don’t get the overwhelming confidence here.

Where does it say Maclin is better than Crabtree?

Secondly, no matter how many times you proclaim Crabtree to be a stud, I will not grant him stud status until he produces on a NFL field.

by FredEx on Aug 11, 2009 3:01 AM EDT up reply actions

In your opinion, sure.

However, Mike Leach is a man. That system doesn’t translate well and all his stats are skewed. He is just under 6’1 and a half inch. He has questionable speed, which could potentially translate into trouble separating at the next level. He appears to have a terrible attitude.

by IronHank on Aug 12, 2009 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions

On a side note

Crabtree is an idiot not to sign his contract with the 49ers… He will more than likely fall out of the first or even 2nd round so whatever “rediculous” offer he got from the 49ers is going to be way more than anything he would get after re-entering the draft…

I almost hope the 49ers pick him again next year if he follows through with re-entering just to make him pissed off.

by wild_eagle on Aug 9, 2009 12:44 AM EDT reply actions

Would be amusing but would never happen.

I almost hope his career rivals Charles Rogers’

by FredEx on Aug 9, 2009 12:48 AM EDT up reply actions

he is holding out for money when if he re-enters he would be

extreemly luck to be a 2nd round pick considering his attitude all ready, and he hasnt played in a year etc… He should be smart, sign his contract for the insane amount of money he is going to get then play his 4-5 years actually do something then hit FA and make big bucks if he really hates the 49ers

by wild_eagle on Aug 9, 2009 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions

noo

yes it stupid to hold out. . JD drew did it and it worked for him .. yea thats baseball .. but crabtree would still be a late first round pick at the worst if he held out .. now would that net him more money? i dunno .. but he wouldnt be hurting as bad as you think

by jack is better than asante on Aug 10, 2009 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions

A late 1st (which might be hard to do, a year off, without anyone seeing him practice at all, and his attitude) is going to net him more money than being the 10th pick this year?

Not buying that.

by FredEx on Aug 10, 2009 12:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Plus, if the NFL and the NFLPA actually get a new CBA in, there’s likely to be a rookie wage plan as part of it. Which means he’d get even less money.

Personally, I wouldn’t waste the draft pick on Crabtree if he did re-enter the draft. He’d probably just pull the same crap again demanding that he gets more money than whatever receiver was drafted ahead of him.

First, Singletary makes him cry and then he decides to hold out because DHB got more money and all the mock drafts had Crabtree going before DHB. Guess what bud, didn’t happen that way. Fair market value is your draft slot.

by jack is better than asante on Aug 11, 2009 3:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Eli was already drafted and then the Giants drafted Rivers … they traded players. Once you draft someone you own the rights I’m not sure if there is a time period.

What I do know is that he would be “released” by the Niners when they needed to get the 53 man roster out therefore he would be eligible for the draft but not to sign with any other team.

I don’t think he’s taking up a roster spot now. So they won’t even have to technically release him…

by TransplantedFan on Aug 11, 2009 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions

You own the rights to a player when you draft him if you cannot sign him to a contract he cannot be on the team, when you have to go to 53 man roster you must practice squad or release all other players thus losing the rights to them.

Since Crabtree will have not completed a season in the NFL he is still in the first tier according to the CBA and thus must re-enter the draft.

Interesting. But, until he reenters the draft, the 49’ers still own his rights and can block any NFL team from talking to him or his agent or from working him out, correct?

by TransplantedFan on Aug 11, 2009 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Good question I don’t know at what time you lose the rights to a player.

The only player I know to have done this is Bo Jackson and he played baseball instead then re-entered the draft the next year.

From what I’ve read elsewhere, the 49’ers retain the rights to Crabtree until the day of the draft. Until then, no team is allowed to communicate with Crabtree or his representatives or else the team can claim tampering. Also, from what I’ve read is this process is NOT covered in the CBA but is actually part of the NFL rules so Crabtree can’t plausibly file a grievance against the team, he’d have to sue the NFL.

by TransplantedFan on Aug 11, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

very cool thanks for sharing … either way he is flat out stupid to not sign on the dotted line. He will be losing money is he re-enters the draft next year I doubt someone spends a top 10 pick on a guy who never played in the NFL and has been out of football period for a year and had foot surgery and no one knows how he’s recovered.

I’d love to see all the teams in the league black ball him and no one draft him but sad enough Jerry Jones would pick him as soon as possible.
