The Pats Just Waived Their Backup QB, So...
In a surprising move (to some), the New England Patriots just waived their backup quarterback, Kevin O'Connell. The guy is nothing special, but O'Connell was projected to be the number two QB for the 2009 season and Tom Brady got his shoulder rocked by the one hundred million dollar man, Albert Haynesworth, the other night.
Why do we Eagles fans care? Well, Philadelphia just so happens to have four quarterbacks on their roster and the birds love making trades with New England. Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick are definitely on the team this year, leaving the futures of Kevin Kolb and A.J. Feeley up in the air.
Now I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I made a post a few weeks ago called What About Kolb. At the end of the post, I made the following statement...
For all we know, we could be trading Kolb away tomorrow for a stud TE, sign Vick as our third string QB, and be on our way to a 13-3 season... or maybe not.
A few days later, Vick signed with the Eagles. Coincidence? Yeah, I guess... but the Eagles could use a little help in certain areas and the Patriots may have a few players that could fill those gaps. So, is a trade on the horizon? You decide.

Im just waiting for the...
Kolb + Brown + 1st round pick for Randy Moss…. zomg
I honestly wouldn’t be surprise if Pats pick Feeley up. Belichick likes to get players has tends to have big games against Patriots, like Wes Welker and Greg Lewis.
Oh, and this:

RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
Feeley to the Pats
would not surprise me either. Kinda makes sense.
awd777, if you really called the Vick signing, I’m impressed. I had him going to a stable organization that didn’t need him to start, but I didn’t call the Eagles.
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
in all honesty...
it was complete coincidence. i was half-kidding and then it actually happened. i’m with you though. i think if anyone is moving, it’s feeley, but you never know.
The more I think about it though ...
… as long as Vick is inactive, the Eagles might want Feeley and Kolb.
Funny about the coincidence though

C'mon now
Some of you guys are smarter than this. Kevin Kolb is our BACK UP if McNabb misses any significant amount of time. Vick is a gadget player, and that’s all. Kolb isn’t going ANYWHERE.
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!
yea
this shit is retarted .. kolb played in one game .. and he is still the future qb of the eagles .. he would require a first to get him from us .. feeley for a 5th seems right

Feeley is worth a 9th round pick at best.
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

Yep, the second became the No. 35
that we used on Reggie Brown, which at one point looked like an overall steal, esp. since we got Feeley back after a brief stay in SD.

Ummm
Didn’t the Pats just sign Andrew Walter? He’s their backup.

Really
do some of you really only think of vick as a “gadget player”, the guy is much much more then that.i really hope you dont think kolb has a better arm than vick, i know vick doesnt isnt in till week 6 but i have about as much confidence in kolb as i do with feeley…

The guy’s been out of the league for two years. If he can somehow be an effective gadget player this year, I’m happier then a pig in sh*t. And there’s a good chance Goodell reinstates him prior week 6. This is not a playbook this guy is going to pick up over night. He’s going to have training wheels on for at least week 6.
Everyone needs to set their hopes for Vick much, much lower.

I just made a bet ...
… with one of my overly-opinionated poker buddies on Vick:
If he throws for or scores a touchdown this season, I win $50. If he doesn’t, I pay $100.
But as far as setting expectations lower, my original proposal was a straight-up bet at five TDs. I might have gotten a little carried away with that one. But I think (hope?) he’ll be used around the goal line a bunch

will you buddy take more bets? If so, let me know. Thats free money if you ask me!
Gadget plays may only work 1/10, but they’re also likely to be big plays when they do work.

Can we trade them Vick?
I’m sick of hearing about QB controversy, and dog-fighting, and the Wildcat. Surely they can spare an LB or TE.
(I know this won’t happen).
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
