Dont Forget To Sit Down

To those of you know me here i have put a good bit of sweat and blood in to BGN since its uprising , but as of late i haven't been posting very much because of other commitments. When i find time i just like to enjoy reading the newer guys posts who are consistent and passionate about their articles.

Now hear me out before you give up reading because its another mike vick post. I posted several comments about mike and how i felt with what he had done. I am a huge animal lover and i in fact find my self enraged when a animal dies in a movie instead of the hero taking the bullet for mans best friend. I think i may have been the first person to pick up the pitchfork and lantern when i heard what he had done. I am still horrified that someone could actually be capable of doing something that grotesque but it took me a while to realize that i was wrong for saying he didn't deserve forgiveness and if you remember my comments throughout the process they gradually changed from hating to forgiving.

Everyone deserves a second chance, and in the words of mike "If i can help more than i hurt then hopefully i will have proven that im sorry for what i did". I have forgiven mike so to speak but i am not exactly emptying the piggy bank to buy stocks either. Everyone still criticizing should really look in the mirror before you continue to criticize people pleading for forgiveness. Would you not want forgiveness if you had done something severely wrong ? Something tells me you would pray for forgiveness if you were in his cleats.He deserves a second chance, but he still has to prove he deserved it.

Now that you know on which side of the fence i reside, lets get to my main point.

I am an EAGLES fan point blank. I will bleed green till i die. I may be moving to miami in the near future and i wont be wearing a dolphins jersey ever.

I AM AN EAGLES FAN ! I would assume that all of you here are as well, correct ? Then why are we losing the support of fans because of the mike vick signing ? If we signed vick 2 years ago all of you who are disgusted with him would be overjoyed and zealous the second we signed him. (traded tech if it happened) Michael Vick is an extraordinary professional football player and none of you here can say his talent and game play isn't absolutely amazing at the least. I understand that we all cant have the same feelings or point of views on such a controversial issue and i am okay with that but ...

If you dont want to be an EAGLES fan anymore because of mike vicks actions that's fine. If you refuse to cheer and or will be booing him whenever he takes the field that's fine. If you change the channel whenever he takes the snaps that's fine. If you will no longer be a fan of the EAGLES until mike is no longer on the team that is fine by me also, but do me a favor while vick is an EAGLE.

WHEN MIKE VICK TAKES A SNAP FROM SHOTGUN AND THROWS A BOMB AFTER AVOIDING 2 SACKS BEHIND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE ... DON'T CLAP ... JUST SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET.
WHEN NUMBER 7 SEES A GAP IN THE MIDDLE AND SPINS OFF THE MLB SPYING HIM WHILE PASSING THE FIRST DOWN MARKER ON THIRD DOWN... DON'T CHEER ... JUST SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET.
WHEN 5 TAKES THE SNAP AS VICK LINES UP AT WR AND PROCEEDS TO BREAK 2 DEFENDERS ANKLES BEFORE REELING IN THE RECEPTION FOR A TD ... DON'T HIGH 5 YOUR FRIENDS ... JUST SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET.
WHEN MIKE TAKES THE REIGNS BECAUSE 5 GOT HURT (KNOCK ON WOOD) AND THROWS FOR 204 WHILE ALSO RUNNING FOR 110 ... PLEASE ... JUST SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET.

None of this is obviously guaranteed to happen, but i am getting really pissed off seeing that some of you so called fans aren't what you claim to be. I want the best players possible on the field that give my team the best possible chance of winning the super bowl. Ray Lewis was acquitted of murder even though so many believe he did it yet if he was an Eagle you would be buying his jersey right now as we speak. We as people tend to judge harsher on things we know nothing about then things we do. If you cant see or comprehend that mike vick can someway increase our chances at winning the super bowl then you are literally in denial and are letting your emotions take the helm.

If you want to stick to not being a fan i understand, but please ... please look yourself in the mirror after reading this. Realize that none of us in the world we live in are perfect. Understand that he was raised around the despicable trend of dog fighting and he became numb to it being that it was accepted amongst his society who IMO should be equally blamed. I am in no way condoning his past actions and mistreatment of mans best friend, but i am condoning his promise to help more than he has hurt. He has yet to prove he will do so, but he deserves the chance to show us.

If everything you just read went in the left ear and out the right , and you have been practicing your boos all morning for tonight... do us EAGLES fans a favor ... PLEASE JUST SIT DOWN AND BE QUIET. Go Birds !!!

AMEN BROTHER, FUK ALL THE HATERZ, i to am a animal lover myself and have 2 dogs. there is no doubt Vick is lowlife for wat he did in the past. but thats the key word PAST. he did his time and now its time to play some ball!!!!!!!! hopefully he can redeem himself and do watever he can in his power to help stop dogfighting and animal abuse. when im a football game im not judging the players by wat they have done off the field, im judging them by their football abilities. if jack the ripper was the QB of the eagles and won us a superbowl i would be the first person to buy his jerzey. ok maybe i went a little to far with that one but im trying to make a point. i dont want my football being diluted with off the field opinions and such. does any of this make sense???

I’ll admit, within seconds of the signing I posted a comment BGN that I was no longer a fan of the Eagles. I did not criticize others for sticking with the team nor did I feel the guy needed to be further crucified in the media. I just had a hard time supporting my life long obsession when part of that support included something that very much upset me. I have since acknowledged that the Eagles have done everything they can to handle this the right way. I have also felt a ton of good can come from this for all involved. Finally, I cannot stop supporting the Eagles. It is just not possible, nor do I even have a bone in my body that wants to stop supporting the Eagles.

I still don’t agree with the signing. I still wish Vick was not an Eagle (even from a football standpoint). At the same time, I was wrong to say I was no longer a fan and I judged the Eagles too harshly initially. I like your approach and I plan to take it. And hell, I may even start cheering for the guy if he does some things off the field that I am hoping for. No matter what, I will be cheering on my Eagles just as I always have. And just like the rest of you, I am sick to death of this story and the the way every single move the guy makes is dissected into something ridiculous (grey goose, what he does after practice, bankrupcty hearings, etc…)

Alright, i read the whole thing, and im confused by the middle. All the “just sit down”. Are you sayin the real fans shouldnt cheer for him?…cus i fully intend on high fiving and goin ape shit when he breaks some ankles for a td. I understand you’re askin the haters to not boo him and leave him be, but you said don’t hive five ppl after he gets a td. What does that mean? I shouldn’t cheer for the man when he does something positive, or im condoning what he’s done in the past by cheering for him on the field?

I don’t condone what he did, but im not gonna condemn him for it either. Whats done is done, he’s got his chance to prove himself a better person, and i for one embrace him as an eagles player. I hope he does the most with his second chance. He’s been workin w/ the humane society, and the philadelphia humane society should allow vick to prove himself.

Good work NPK, I agree all the way. Btw, I absolutely hate Ray Lewis. He is such a fake, always acting like he has God on speeddial. He is the most overhyped player of this decade and I hate his guts. Did I mention that I don’t like him? I will never forgive him, because he never served his time, at least Vick did that. He’s a lying fake.

When Vick first arrived I was completly against it… I still have a hard time with what he did, but Im ready to move on and cheer for the guy. I hope hes sincerely sorry for what he did and just not for being caught.
That being said, I’m excited to see what the guy can do. Go Birds!

Great post. I love dogs and have dogs. I despise what he did. but the night my roommate called me from the bar saying Vick was an Eagle I was in disbelief… The thought never crossed my mind of turning my back on the team I refer to as “MY” team. I thought about the huge PR hit we might take. But then I thought of the offense. McNabb, Westy, Shady, Jax, Curtis, Mac, Celek…..and now Vick.. DC’s around the league want to kill themselves now. That said, let’s just hope Big Red knows what he’s doing getting the offense downfield and hope the defense (with 3 huge holes left from last year) will be able to hold up

I never liked Vick. I didn’t like him (hated him) at Va Tech. I didn’t like him it Atlanta (though I enjoyed the Eagles beating him in the playoffs). I still don’t like him. If he can help the Eagles win, then sure why not sign him. The thing that disturbs me is how a lot of fans at the game (based on cheers) and a lot of the posts I am reading make it sound like a lot of people think he’s the greatest QB in the world. I think you guys should take a look at some stats. First of all, Vick is fast as hell and he’s got an arm, sure. But if you ever watched him play he is not a “great” QB. He does not have that innate ability to read and pick apart a D, he doesn’t always make the best decision. His accomplishments and “ankle breaking” that you refer to happened a few years ago and again, looking at his stats, his performance was on a steady decline the last couple years he was in the league.
The guy is an athlete, the guy should have some game left in him, but there’s a lot more to this team than some gadget plays from a relative “has-been”. This team goes as far as McNabb can take them and that’s it. Look at what McNabb has done in his career and look what Vick has done. When Vick reneged on his verbal to Syracuse he said he didn’t want to be the next Donovan McNabb. Look where he is now, right behind him on the bench.
Either way, I hope we crush our way through the NFC East and everyone else in our path.

and it wasn’t meant to be perceived that way , rather then more or less enlightening the ones who doubted/still doubt what he is capable of … he has soooooo much potential and if you do not agree your in denial … people around here were acting like hes a horrible player/addition to our team … you yourself agree that hes worth something and im right along side you … you just have not been here for the countless harassment hes been reviving through our fan post or have not noticed … which is fine …people are entitled to their opinions but through this fan post i simply wanted to remind them that when vick does great things for this organization like i believe he can and will … they professed how they would not support him or the eagles … i just wanted to remind them not to cheer when he throws a td … i want them to remember that their faith did not lay with the eagles for a mere if not still remaining time period … that is all …. lights lights lights

Umm...

why would i care if the Eagles are losing fans? I dont care about people that wanna jump ship. I’ll cheer as loud as i want when and if Vick scores a TD. I dont care. They can call him “dog killer” all they want. I just hope hes a “Cowboy, Redskin, and Giant killer” too.
