Jet and Ravens lookin at are wrs

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/26/jets-ravens-sniffing-around-eagles-receivers/

Star-divide

After years of driving their fanbase crazy because of a lack of competent receivers, the Philadelphia Eagles may now have too many.

The Jets and Ravens are aware of this, and are reportedly "keeping a close eye" on the Eagles wideouts, according to Paul Domowitch of the Philadelhphia Daily News.

It's not clear what receivers the AFC teams are looking at, but Reggie Brown is the best guess.  The 2005 second-round pick's career has slid the last two years, but he produced 1,596 yards with 12 scores between 2006-2007, so he's not without talent.

Brown isn't guaranteed to make the Eagles roster presently, with Jason Avant in the slot, rookie first-rounder Jeremy Maclin on board, and Hank Baskett helping out on special teams and reality shows.  (DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis are the starters.)

Brown may only be sixth on the depth chart in Philadelphia, but he would likely find playing time on either the Ravens or Jets

We all knew some teams would have interest in reggie brown, this is good for us. i dont think he would have seen the field much at all this year and even tho he still can contribute to this team, we have way too many wr's and  id rather get a draft pick for him than just cutting another

Hey ill take a 3rd or 4th for reggie or maybe a linebacker if they have an extra. I really really want gibson to make the team. I have not seen him drop a pass yet and it looks as though his mechanics and playmaking ability are progressing exponentially. If we cut him then another team will pick him up. Just stick reggie on a bus and send him packing down 295 to baltimore.

I've been trying to trade Reggie Brown the entire offseason...

Now it’s too late. With only 2 preseason games left, his value is extremely minimized because final cuts are right around the corner. Could we have gotten a 4 for him a few months ago? I think we could have. But with cuts right around the corner, the Ravens and Jets would be absolutely idiotic to give up anything of value whatsoever, when all they have to do is look at the math – 7 receivers, 5 or 6 spots.

Is it possible that the Ravens or Jets trade us a later round pick though (like a 6 or 7) so that they don’t have any competition signing him? Doubtful. You trade for Reggie Brown, you get his contract, and at this point that’s not going to happen. Brown gets cut, they get him on the cheap for a 1 or 2 year contract.

By the way, if the Eagles are in fact forced to cut him because the Ravens and Jets exercise common sense, they take a significant cap hit. They really botched this one.

I'll probably get shit for this...

But after the way hes played and his contract next year, wouldnt it make more sense to trade Kevin Curtis. I guarantee you get a 3rd for him which is more than Reggie would get.

its not crazy,

but who steps in to the number one spot?? because maclin isnt ready for that yet.. and the way the eagles setup there recievers the #1 spot is for the bigger stronger reciever so d jack will always be number 2..

No...

You’re thinking, and I can appreciate that, but we need Curtis this year. This isn’t the time to be worrying about the future.

yeah his contract makes it difficult to trade him but easy to release him.

I like reggie too. He only got to play in 10 games last year. He didnt play to bad when he finally got on the feild week 4 and 5 against chicago and washington, then week 6 he was scratched. I kinda thought he got screwed last season.
