Questions to Ask Tomorrow As the Eagles Face the Jaguars
The most exciting game of the preseason is 24 hours from kickoff, and you're probably wondering what to watch for. Tomorrow's match versus the Jacksonville Jaguars contains more interesting storylines than any Eagles preseason game in recent memory, so there's a lot to keep track of. Quarterback Michael Vick makes his highly talked-about return to the NFL, Brian Westbrook highlights a slew of starters returning from injuries, and several bubble players are still fighting tooth-and-nail for playing time. To help keep track of all the excitement, here are some Eagles to keep an eye on at each position:
Quarterback: The question on everyone's mind: how will Michael Vick perform in his first NFL game in over two years? Now that Andy Reid has announced that Vick will see action with the starters, what packages will the QB be used in and how much will it mess with the Jaguars' defense?
Running Back: In his first gameday action this year, will Brian Westbrook show that he is ready to go full-time by week one?
Fullback: With Leonard Weaver sitting out, will it be Kyle Eckel or Marcus Mailei who steps up and makes the most of their increased playing time?
Tight End: Can Rob Myers give another impressive showing before newly-acquired veteran Tony Curtis returns from his injury and gobbles up all of the playing time?
Wide Receiver: With only eight receivers left on the roster, is now the time for Brandon Gibson to continue his stellar performance and show that he will make the team?
Left Tackle: Can the returning Jason Peters silence the doubts about the o-line that have crept up over the course of the preseason?Left Guard: Can Max Jean-Gilles perform respectably in place of the injured Todd Herremans?
Center: Will RFA Dallas Reynolds get any playing time and, if so, will he distinguish himself enough for people to take notice?
Right Guard: How will Stacy Andrews look in his return?
Right Tackle: Can Winston Justice prove that Eagles fans have nothing to fear should he need to start in week one?
Left Defensive End: Can Victor Abiamiri contain Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and show that he is ready to be a starter on this team?
Defensive Tackle: Will Dan Klecko, Willie Williams, or Josh Gaines make a worthy case for Andy Reid keeping four defensive tackles on the roster?
Right Defensive End: Will Trent Cole's return give the defensive line the edge to produce a multi-sack game?
Weakside Linebacker: As the only uninjured WILL left on the roster, can Akeem Jordan benefit from the increased playing time?
Middle Linebacker: If Joe Mays splits starting time with rookie Moise Fokou, what does this mean for the Eagles MLB position?
Strongside Linebacker: How will the newly-acquired Curtis Gatewood perform in his Eagles debut?
Left Cornerback: Can Asante Samuel give the fans what they're dying to see from him: an interception?
Right Cornerback: Will Ellis Hobbs make up for last game's sub-par performance and help end David Garrard's preseason hot streak?
Strong Safety: Does RFA Reshard Langford have a prayer of making the final roster with Quintin Mikell and Sean Jones ahead of him on the depth chart?
Free Safety: Will second-year man Quintin Demps show the consistency needed to be a starting NFL safety?
Kicker: After only kicking an extra point last game, will David Akers get a chance to try for a long field goal?
Punter: Will Sav Rocca make the return men fear his tackling skills?

I said it before...
I’ll say it again. Keep your eyes on Moise. The Terps have put some above average LBs in the NFL over the last decade (Shawn Merriman, D’Qwell Jackson, E.J. Henderson, and Eric Barton). I’m not sure if he’ll be able to come in and make an immediate impact, but he will be a monster in the future. Ellis Hobbs will make up for himself. He’s an above average KO return man and will be a fine dime back. He’s still getting the system down. Better he get beat now and make his mistakes early than in weeks 1-17. I still don’t trust our linebackers, but I think Moise will be vicious for years to come.

NO DOUBT
Yeah im pretty big on Moise to and we are in pretty desperate shape in the linebacking dept. so he could turn out to be a hidden gem for us hopefully. I really like his football instincts with the ability he showed last week to get to the ballcarrier fast.
The other two guys im really excited 2 see 2morrow night are Brandon Gibson and Rob Myers. I think if Myers can duplicate his game from last week its gonna be hard for the coaches to cut him. The one thing i want to see from him is some blocking ability. I dont know 2 much about him besides what i saw last week, can he block???? And if so i think we should keep him over Curtis who could be a washout already at this point.
Now with Gibson………wow , i really like this kid. I think hes definitely making this team. Hes a hard worker, a good kid, and hes willing to do watever it takes to get better. Also at this point i actually am more impressed with him than i am with Maclin.

Anyone going to the game?
I hope Mailei has a good enough showing to make the practice squad. I was rooting for him to make it.

Im gonna be there tonight. The eagles ask the military to volunteer for security and stuff so I figure, free game, why not? Im pretty excited about it too. I wanna see the crowd reaction to not only Vick playing, but also have Tra Thomas back in Philly. Oh and BWest plays tonight so that should make for some exciting moments.

?
what branch? I’m stationed at Andrews and whenever they want us to help out at the Redskins games its always carrying around a 24 case of Bud up and down stadium steps for 3 quarters… for a girl its a tough job, not worth it … especially for a skins game.

Im in the Air Force. I worked the Jags game and from 4:30-7:30 I had to frisk about 4 dudes. Then they moved us into the stadium and I got to sit at the 50 yrd line on the Jags side and watch the crowd their, but I pretty much watched the game most of the time.

Punter: Will Sav Rocca make the return men fear his tackling skills?
I have said this before. Just once, I want him to be in the right place at the right time and be able to square up on a 180lb punt returner. That would be just awesome.

Peters
Looking forward to see what he can do, as well as Stacy Andrews. Don’t really think Westbrook should play, don’t want to risk anything with him. Looking forward to see Vick on the field too.

That Shaheer guy, I believe. I’m not too sure. I’m really looking forward to Westbrook’s return. If he can put up decent rushes…man, I will be ecstatic for this season.

You’re right. It was Shaheer McBride that got let go from the WR corp. He and DiMichele got cut to make room for the TE Curtis and LB Gatewood on August 25th.
