Starting to worry about Maclin...
If the amount of years and dollars per year are set I am not sure what STILL could be holding this up.. do the eagles have a cap on the amount of bonus money they can offer this kid ?
This is damn ridiculous. Of all the draft picks I was most excited to see this one and I would bet this is now going to turn into a Broderick Bunkley situation where he cant get on the field because of missing training camp and he just doesnt "get it". WR is the toughest position to learn on this team (besides QB) and hes throwing it all away.
Supposedly his agent ALWAYS gets his picks signed in time for training camp. Which tells me the problem may be Maclin himself. I hope he doesnt turn out ot be a douche like TO....been there done that...

alot of 1st rounders still haven't been signed...
and unfortunately, the holdout is part of the process… i wouldn’t put too much into it cuz, a) you did start your camp a little early, and (b) this list should help put you at ease…

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
Maybe it's the Eagles who don't "get it"
If this kid needs to be in camp to make an impact in ‘09 then it is just as imperative for the Eagles to make he’s signed as it is for Maclin. You cannot put the blame on the kid or his agent 100%. It’s 50-50 in my opinion.
It’s time for Banner & Maclin’s agent to step up and get this done before Monday.
actually...
After reading the list of 1st rounders who didnt sign it makes me worry more. the 17th and 20th picks are both signed. Shouldnt that make is easier ? Give Maclin a better deal than the 20th pick and not quite as good as the 17th. The Eagles should not overpay for a college wideout who has done nothing in the nfl so far. They can and will stick to the script…and they should. No rookies picked 19th get a ridiculous signing bonus even if they were supposed to be a top 10 pick. Matt Leinert was supposed to be a top 3 pick and I think he was picked 9th…turns out he should have been picked 99th if picked at all. The bottom line is 18 teams passed on Maclin for a reason….maybe this is why.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.............
I say he gets a nice warm welcome when he finally gets to camp.
that will really make everyone happy

Well
He deserves it at this rate. WTF, J-Mac… You’re a rookie, I bet you didn’t have a job last year due to football.. but if you did, you made maybe $10/hr… suck up some happy and sign for $16M, w/ only 9-10 guarenteed or whatever. Just effin realize you’re gonna make easy millions for only playing garbage time this season.
I think we do have a cap number for all
of our rookies, I read something just after the draft, I think we were alloted 8.3mill worth of caps space we can use on rookies..
SO the problem could be that the contract Maclin wants isnt in the cap space allowed.
years
The problem isn’t maclin. Jim wants a short contract the eagles want a long one. Jim wants a shorter contract so that Mac is guarantee more money. I just read an article bout it.

Length of contract
…cannot be the problem. Every first round pick has been signed for 5 years (other than Stafford). There’s no chance the Eagles are going to sign him for 4 years and Maclin’s agent has to understand that.
Unless the Eagles are trying to sign him for 6 years then the length of the contract can’t possibly be the problem.
The problem has to be that Maclin and/or his agent are looking for top 10 or top 15 money and the Eagle’s aren’t having it. Which makes sense… You got picked 19th… get over it, sign your contract and play ball.
BEANIE WELLS INJURED IN FIRST PRACTICE WITH CARDS!
He was carted off on a stretcher but the seriousness wasn’t known.. I’m glad we didn’t take him. Maclin should sign soon and will be a great deep threat. Lets just hope he stays healthy.
I was saying he was an injury
risk. I was always saying how he would got hurt every year at Ohio State…
Im so glad we didnt get him. McCoy will be better.
Crabtree
got lucky they said that, but going from the #10 pick type money to 3-5 type of money thats alot different than Maclin going from #19 type of money to top 10 type of money.
I hope this thing gets done soon.
again...
I hope I am wrong. Ive been following maclin…saw some video of his workouts, I see that hes an accounting major. The guy is SMART and a super hard worker. I hope things work out…he could be a great one.
I agree there but
his and his agents system is wrong. He was picked #19 for whatever reason no matter if he was projected to go #6-10 or whatever. He wants to be payed based on pre-draft projections not where he was actually taken.
If everyone got payed based on where Kiper thought they would be taken then the rookie salaries would be way over inflated(even more than now.)
Loser Boy
I said it over a week ago when this all started. He’s proving himself a loser boy who allows his agent to run his career and who refuses to understand that he only hurting himself by not being in camp. This team has plenty of WR talent, and Maclin is just icing on the cake, not the cake. He apparently doesn’t understand that, and is letting people blow smoke up his ass.
Its stuff like this that makes me perfectly happy to have traded out of the first round in 2007 and 2008.
hold on a sec
Lets remeber that the Eagles are one of the earlyist teams to open camp so this time he is missing can be easily made up for opening day. Althought in my opinion if he is not in camp by this week i would start to worry about it but not just yet.
I did thought just hear a disapointing report that there was no more progress made on his deal.
