Favre to sign with Vikings
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4406963
I mean this guy just will not hang em up. Good news is we can now hear a lot less about Vick! Bad news, regardless of your thoughts on Favre, the VIkings just got A LOT better.
Someone needs to take this guy to task for this on again off again nonsense. Sure is going to make that packers vikings monday night game interesting!

Favre: I've Always Had A Passion For Stopping Things, Then Starting To Do Things Again
KILN, MS—Embattled quarterback Brett Favre attempted Monday to explain his recent actions concerning his recent reversal of his decision to retire by holding a press conference in which he explained his lifelong love for quitting things briefly before resuming those same things after a certain interval of time had passed. “I’m just that kind of guy, I guess—a gunslinger on one hand, but on the other, a man who knows when to stop, at least at first, but then it turns out I really didn’t know when to stop after all,” Favre said. “I guess you could say I’m a guy who quits, then realizes I don’t know the meaning of the word quit.” A number of the journalists present were later heard to wonder, in light of Favre’s recent inexplicable behavior, if perhaps drinking heavily were one of the things the first-ballot Hall of Famer had stopped doing before starting again.

the VIkings just got A LOT better.
Maybe but after his shoulder surgery and missing the off season conditioning I’m not sure if 40 year old Favre is insurmountably better than Sage Rosenfels

I think Sage Rosenfels, Chad Pennington, and Aaron Rodgers need to hug it out. These guys have been screwed big time by good old #4, and I do mean old.

I wouldn't say Chad got screwed.
Considering his Miami Dolphins team beat Favre’s Jets team to win the division.
RIP Jim Johnson, best ever.
In the long term, yeah it definitely paid off for him. What I was referring to was the fact that he was basically shipped out of New York as soon as the Farve talks heated up with the Jets.

Forreahl...
Shananigans aside, this is great timing for us. I can’t imagine Vick news staying the top story with Lord Brett Almighty returning.
On a football note, this is a joke. Just like last year, he’ll make some incredible throws but lots of terrible ones. I think this actually makes the Vikings less of a threat in the long run. It will be a miracle for Brett to make it through the entire season unscathed. Even if he doesn’t get injured, he’s bound to tire down the stretch. The 8-3 start for the Jets was nice, but the 1-4 ending with a 2-9 TD/INT ratio spoke volumes. It’s not like they were playing powerhouse teams: DEN, SF, BUF, SEA, MIA. I know the Vikes have more talent on the roster, but that won’t prevent the bonehead plays.
If I was a Vikings fan, I’d be pissed.
Bad news, regardless of your thoughts on Favre, the VIkings just got A LOT better.
I happen to disagree there. Is he better than Tavaris Jackson? Sure. Is he better than Sage Rosenfels? Eh, for this team, I’m not so sure.
Favre’s past 4 seasons…
2008 – 22 INT
2007 – 15 INT
2006 – 18 INT
2005 – 29 INT
Minnesota has a good defense (especially along the defensive line), they give up absolutely no rushing yardage, and on offense, they have the best running back in the NFL. If I’m the Vikings, I’d much rather have a QB that will take what he’s given, can pick up a 3rd down here and there, and I’d just run the hell out of the ball, and be content to punt rather than give up the big play to the defense. It’s a formula that works… See ’07 Giants, ’02 Bucs, ’00 Ravens, etc.
Favre gives them very little. I’d don’t think they’re any better off today than they were yesterday.
Bye, Big Stew and JJ :(
Ladies and Gentlemen
the Minnesota Favre’s! let the circus begin. Thanks for taking one for the team Brett and pulling the Vick press horse back.

On a side note...
It’s a good thing ESPN had an enormous “Favre Retires” headline with 87 accompanying stories the same day Jim Johnson died.

Jaws just called the Vikings the team to beat in the NFC just now!! Not NFC North….NFC! Damn…I cant believe Jaws of all people picked them over the Birds!!

I've actually lost some respect for jaws recently
If you say you are an Eagles fan, and all you do is complain about the franchise, why even bother?
700 Level
I was just curious as to why u would say that now ?Is it because he didnt pick the Eagles or some other reason? Ive never liked him on TV or in the booth . I find him to be nothing more than a mouth piece for the NFL.

I can understand that.
To someone who is closed minded and not tolerant to any other opinion than there own, I can understand . Sorry to have bothered u.

They are a pretty good team right now. Their defense was really good last year, and this year they think its even better somehow. We know what their rushing attack brings to the table. The last piece was a threatening passing attack.
Keep in mind, I don’t necessarily mean a good passing attack, just one that has to be respected. The only solution to stop the Vikings last year was to load the box with eight to stop Peterson, and pray the secondary can handle whatever passes are being thrown. Last year that wasn’t a problem because their QBs were less than stellar, but with a guy like Farve throwing that ball to every receiver in sight, it’s going to be tough to gameplan against them defensively. He may not be the most accurate passer, but you have to acknowledge the fact that Farve chucks balls down the field whenever he pleases.

I think as far as we are concerned, Favre is not a problem.
The Eagles have a solid secondary, so Favre’s gunslinging ways could be to our advantage. AP is still the man to worry about on the Vikings. Now a team like Chicago….they don’t exactly have all-pro corners. Favre might eat them up as he has recently.
Bears suck
we lost to them the last 2 years b/c of the umps, let’s get some consistency this year, like 19-0 consitency. if we go to the superbowl, a lot of the talk will be “Vick doesn’t deserve a Ring” & “Could McNabb finally get a Ring”… can’t wait…

Let them be the "favorite"
Kinda tired of people talking about the Birds. Look at last season, low expectations make achieving something like the NFCCG feel awesome. When you think you’re a Super Bowl team, it’s failure.
I’m definitely on the "you mean this was all bullshit and Jim Johnson could’ve had his day in the sun?’ train now. I wasn’t mad at Favre for continuing to play, but F him for the fake retirement
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
but again
at least we will hear less about Vick in the national media. The firestorm endeth!
If you say you are an Eagles fan, and all you do is complain about the franchise, why even bother?
The Vikings board looks a lot like ours did a few days ago...
Lots of people bashing the move, and eventually talking themselves into it.

What an asshole...
Before training camp started, he decided to retire. Training camp over, he decides to sign. I would not wanna be his team mate nor fan. He has the most interceptions in the NFL, he is old and injured. He will not last the full season. Vikings will realize they made a big mistake just like the Jets did. Brett Favre = OVER RATED
Felix is better than Brian. You can call me FIBTB.
he just didn't want to go to camp
& maybe they were looking at Vick, but when he signed they went with Favre

The main thing is can the old man keep up pace
He’s coming off surgery, he’s getting up there in years, I mean if he can look like he did the beginning of last year, with that squad he will be dangerous. I just don’t think he has a full season left in him.
"I want to maintain my flexibility."

he may not have a full season in him
He showed that last year his shoulder was/is bothering him. I personally think he just didn’t want to do the whole training camp thing again, he just wants to play.
Representing CANADA eh?
Has Madden announced his return yet?

Childress picked him up from the airport
Ridiculous.
Is he gonna make lunch for him too?
The road to victory!
In fairness...
Much like in Philly, the stadium is very close to the airport in Minny.

Vikings projection
9-7.
Favre’s shoulder still has a tear in the rotator cuff. If that sounds familiar, it’s exactly the same circumstance that befell Chad Pennington, who had to undergo two separate shoulder surgeries between 2004 and 2005. Chad’s arm strength did not return for 3 years, when he finally averaged 7.8 YPA last year.
There is a very good chance that Favre doesn’t complete the season. I’m sure for his sake he is just trying to survive until the week against the Packers, but that may be his only true goal. I don’t think he is eyeing a Super Bowl.
Also, with Brett Favre comes national scrutiny. The Jets were a fine running team with Thomas Jones (AFC leader in rushing yards) and Leon Washington, but Jones carried the ball less than 300 times, because everyone came down hard on Eric Mangini for not utilizing Favre more often. Favre eventually started throwing 50 passes a game, and we know what happened to the Jets’ season from there. It did not end well.
Brad Childress is stubborn but he has no tenure. He is already on the hot seat. Whatever is demanded of him, he will have to acquiesce. No matter how great their running game is, if Favre isn’t involved, the media and the Vikings FO will make it so that he DOES become involved, and history will repeat itself.
Come on!
Here we go signing Vick when we coulda had favre all along. Just think of the wildcat possibilities…
