Rashad Baker Released
Former Raider Rashad Baker was absent from practice today and now we know why. The Eagles have just announced his release, making this the second safety they have let go in four days. To take Baker's place, the Birds have signed rookie free agent Brandon Harrison, a safety out of Michigan who spent time on the Colts' roster before being released on July 29th.
Baker's release comes as a bit of a surprise, since he led the team in tackles (4) during the first preseason game against the Patriots. The 27-year-old was expected to be in the running for the backup safety spot with Macho Harris, Sean Jones, and Reshard Langford.

Macho
All things equal, I figured they’d keep the rookie with upside as opposed to a journeyman veteran, but I’m really surprised the Birds made this move so soon. I guess all Sean McDermott wasn’t just blowing smoke with all the praise. It’ll be really interesting to see how he performs over the next 3 games now that it’s pretty much a given he’ll be on the final 53 roster.
On a different note, THANK YOU BRETT FAVRE. Surely this means attention will be diverted away from the NovaCare Complex. Also, this actually makes the Vikes less threatening to me. He totally just didn’t want to deal with the rough part of training camp. Smooth, Brett.
Sean Jones
From what I can tell, seems to be a legit player- we’re just very deep in the secondary. I think he’ll get a chunk of playing time this year.
I also think Macho will get some quality time if he indeed gets a spot. You could see flashes in the first game, but for fear of sounding like a complete homer, this kid rules. I watched him for 4 years at VT (Go Hokies!) and he was consistently one of the best players on the field. I mean, the guy was a first-team All-American last year. All-American defensive backs generally translate well in the NFL.
I don’t have a man-crush, I swear… I save that for Eddie Royal.
Apparantly no one knows where Rashad is...
This is kind of weird, No one, not even the agent can get in contact with Baker…its kinda creepy.
Get used to seeing Harrison’s back . . . as he frantically chases ballcarriers streaking to the goal line.
