Where's the Unbiased Journalism 610 WIP?

PrintSo I'm home right now listening to 610 WIP. I don't know if I've ever heard more hatred towards a person, and more biased journalism in my life.
Basically it goes down like this (610 WIP) "Ok caller tell us what you think about the Mike Vick signing" (Caller) I think it's horrible he should be in prison for life or better yet, put him in a cage with 3 hungry dogs and let them fight it out" (610 WIP) " We couldn't agree more, he's a sick person and shouldn't be a part of society, thanks for the call you're a genious" (610 WIP) "Ok caller tell us what you think about this stupid signing by the Eagles" (Caller) I think he deserves another cha...*CLICK* (610 WIP) "HANG UP ON THAT IDIOT, YOUR OPINION IS DUMB! We've talked to millions of Eagles fans and they're all giving away their tickets. You're and idiot for calling!" It has basically been going on all night like this.
Merrill called in and didn't say anything about the signing being stupid or bad the for the Eagles and they just laughed after he called and basically said "See even Merrill's on board with us on this subject." UGH. They even had a fan call in and say he didn't want us to win the Super Bowl if Vick was on this team.
I don't know if they screen calls and only let the controversial callers that support their cause through, but they definitely got to speak their minds and weren't hung up on. They also weren't called idiots after they were disconnected.
I hope that the fan base isn't saying this around the Philly area. It seems like we've handled it pretty good here.

The NFL is to blame if you have a problem, not Vick. Regardless of my personal feelings and opinions (who honestly cares, I don’t even), I totally agree with that statement.

a lot of the callers on WIP who hate Vick with a passion are women?

Yes,
Women that don’t even know football. You should be able to answer a simple question like, what did did Michael Vick play at before Philadelphia, if they get that wrong, than just hang up on them, because they don’t know football.
I mean these are women who are told how they should feel. They here someone say, “Oh, the Eagles signed a dogkiller”, and the call and nag, sometimes not even knowing his name or any details on him.
They just follow the crowd and don’t think on their own. Like Lemmings

Kinda off subject, but I was listening to 610 yesterday around 7 in the evening, and they had Freddie Mitchell on the phone (or in the studio, not sure) and he was saying how Andy and Donovan “blackballed” him, and thats why no other teams signed him after he was released from the Eagles.
"If they end up 2-14 and both of those wins came against Dallas, that's a pretty good year."

That guy is the biggest pussy ever and doesnt even deserve that job. Hes not very good at it either. Its so annoying to hear people call in and he calls them a moron because they dont agree with him. Dont waste your time listening to him. You should know better.

First off, Its not "journalism"
this is 610 not 1060. While you can get some news stories there, its not the “news”…kinda like Fox News Channel.
If they just read the news stories and thats it, their show would be 10 minutes, if their lucky. These are all call in opinion shows, its their job to give you their opinion and then talk about it with the callers.

This reminds me so much of the Brett Myers incident with his wife.
SO many people called into WIP saying that if Myers pitched in a phillies uniform again they would give away their tickets, stop being a fan, etc….
Though I don’t condone his actions, I sure am glad he was in a phillies uniform last year.
To be honest, I don't like what Mike did, but he grew up in a community where
Dog fighting was Acceptable, I know that Rooster fighting (I can’t right Cock Fighting with out that sounding gay) is not frown upon in some communities. Heck, some people eat the dying rooster.
Vick didn’t see it as that big of a deal. Now he know how a lot of people feel about what he did.
Heck, in some countries people eat dogs!!!! Peoples perceptions of animals can change from people to people, community to community, and even country to country.
I don’t think WIP is a good gage of what people feel. Those are only people who echo what the host feels.

Oh, last I checked, Micheal Jackson was a Child Molester, and people got over it.
I think people will get over Vick. I’m way over it, I spent all morning drawing up some wildcat plays on piece of paper. I can imagine Andy is doing the same thing.

WIP has been like that for some time (IMO). It always seems that if you do not agree with what they say then you will not be able to finish your call.
I stopped listening to them and instead I listen to Mike & Mike in the Morning.
And I agree that Michael deverses this chance….second chance.

Anyone expecting objective journalism from WIP is insane. They don’t even claim to be objective. They are there for one reason only to make a profit selling advertising. They do that by stirring the pot and getting people riled up. Another thing to consider is: Is there a possibility that they could lose sponsors if they came out soundly in favor of the Vick signing? If that we’re the case they might get the PETA crackpots calling everyone who advertises on WIP.
This is coming from a multiple dog owner who is very sceptical that anyone who abuses animals can be rehabilitated.

Some people are idiots….apparently we have many in philly, because to hate on a team and one person so much for a mistake he made in his past, and since has served 18 months in a federal prison and vowed to help the humane society and end dogfighting.He did his time and payed for his mistake. I still beleive vick is a better person then most of you, so stop riding the hate on vick bandwagon and support your team! stop complaining about him being an animal, you get out there and help the humane society too if you think its such a big deal, GET OVER IT.Vick is the signle most exciting qb to watch in nfl history, you should be honored to have this legend on your team.out

Vick is NOT a better person than any one of us for helping the humane society in order to repair his image. I am willing to give him another chance. I am willing to say he served his time. I am NOT willing to say he’s a better person than me, or anyone else on this board, just because he’s helping the humane society. Maybe after years of community service he’ll be considered a good person, but he’s only a few months removed from serving time for a felony. The guy is no saint.
