Vick and Stallworth
They're two different cases. Quit comparing them. Comparing them to each other only makes you look ignorant. One man deliberately tortured and killed animals, and the other accidentally killed a man through his negligence and disregard. Donte Stallworth's victim had a family. Stallworth's mighty lawyers negotiated a plea bargain with the family of the victim, and they agreed to a sum of money and Stallworth getting very light jail time. That was their business. Their decision. So, while some of you may think Stallworth got off light (and I think he did, too), it's not our business to say he should suffer more.
Same thing with Michael Vick. He has served his time. He will be absolutely busting his ass to earn acceptance, let alone respect again. From the people willing to stick their neck out and vouch for him, I will be assuming he is remorseful until I see reason to believe he's not. He can only hope people will understand that he is, in fact, remorseful, and trying to be a good person from this point forward. But if no one's going to give him the benefit of the doubt, there's not really much of a point in him trying.
Being a good person from this point forward is all he can do. He can't go back and erase his mistakes. He surely knew it was wrong when he did it, but what is done is done, and according to our judicial system, he has been punished for his crimes. One of the things I hate about people is their unwillingness to let go of mistakes, and how they instead choose to punish someone for the same wrong over and over. Don't be that person. Go Eagles.
