What the EFF will it take for "animal lovers" to forgive Vick?

I just posted something about this on another fanpost, but I wanna see what other people think about this subject.  I don't think animal lovers can ever forgive Vick for this crime.  That's sad.

Now I don't think torturing animals is right, but we have to remember he wasn't a child killer or a human killer for that matter.  People just can't let it go.

I sometimes think we as humans have screwed up values.  We aren't calling for Donte Stallworth's head, or Ray Lewis' to be killed. Should we kill all hunters or people that work at a meat locker?  I mean think about this, people in PETA want Vick dead.  Vick was in talks with PETA to become a spokesman for them? What does that say about them?  He's working with the humane society, traveling around the country talking to people about this matter, and has paid his debt to society? What will it take?

I had an argument at work about this.  A lady told me that you can't blame any dog for being vicious, it's the owners fault and the owner should be prosecuted for having a bad dog. Then i asked her "If your child killed someone or beat someone up, should you the parent be prosecuted for being a bad parent?" her answer laughing "NO!  Why would I be responsible for my child's actions?"  Don't we see how our priorities and values are flip flopped on this matter?

I'm ok with them if they give Donte a second chance, Ray Lewis, and Vick being given second chances.  Have any of us ever made a mistake that we think we've paid for?  Even if this mistake wasn't that big to us it could be huge in someone else's eyes.  Should you be persecuted for the rest of your life for a mistake you think you've paid for?

That outlook is terrible
Then i asked her “If your child killed someone or beat someone up, should you the parent be prosecuted for being a bad parent?” her answer laughing “NO! Why would I be responsible for my child’s actions?”

This depends on the age of the child I think. If the kid is 16, 17, 18, I think the kid knows enough and has enough experiences outside of the home to know that killing/beating a person is wrong so the parent can’t be prosecuted/blamed for this.

But when a kindergartener takes a parent’s gun to school and shoots another child in his/her class then I think the parent should absolutely be prosecuted. Even take the gun out of the equation… a kid takes a knife to school or even his bare hands and hurts another child, the parent has EVERYTHING to do with it. That’s what’s wrong with our society. Parents don’t take enough responsibility in their child’s actions.

It’s all cyclical, a parent doesn’t raise a child with the right foundation and set of beliefs, then that child will grow up to raise his/her children in the same manner. It’s a disgrace.

age doesn’t really matter his point is why are owners responsible for their dogs behavior and not their children.

Heres how he makes up for it

Find how many dogs he snatched up from his neighborhood and raised in the kennel only latter to turn into a chew toy or a monster that would have to be put down- or he would simply kill them by; electricution, hanging, or dorwning.
You take that number, multiply it by 10. Then put him in the Philly Animal Patrol car and have him save with his own hands that that number of Animals and they you have someone who has not only been reformed but has made up for what he has done…

What if, by his actions, he stops 25 kids in the inner city from participating in dogfighting?

Would that be enough for you? Because if he works with the Humane Society (like he’s already started to), he could end up doing that and a whole lot more.

by wildcatlh on Aug 14, 2009 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So...

he only has to save the animals 10 fold? So if he killed 10 dogs he has to save 100? That’s ridiculous. How easily do murderers get off? What if I killed a mouse or a cat or a fish? Do I have to save 10 of each animal for you to see justice has been done? What if I steal, cheat, rape?

dude Im saying he needs to make up for it by helping dogs now

ok hes out of prison he served his time and now its time to give back. Idunno the number. I mean I guess you want him to get the chair- I just think he hasnt gone through enough I think a lot of time working to help animals, like A LOT of time would be something to concider

I dont see why we have to forgive him personally...

Fuck him as a person but as a member of the team, he is an Eagle, we are Eagles fans, most of us diehards (is there any other way?) so we root for the team. its a year at most.

I dissagree

Yeah I’ll be happy about every big play he produces but
part of the great thing about being an Eagles fan is loving the team for its character to, how they emodu the spirit of Philly, Blue colar work horses with alot of heart.
Dawkins, Runyan, Brown, Westy, Stew- past and present our team was full of good guys and its fun cheering for the good guys
We tried bad guys before- TO and Fred Ex (who wasnt that bad) and they dont last, the Die hard fan loses respect for them- granted they belly ached and Vicks offenses are in the past. He still brings that bad guy image and the negative press.
I will cheer for my Eagles regaurdless and prob catch myself going batshit over something Vick does but at the end of the day its a blemish on our franchise- Im proud of haveing a classy gritty team with Agressive gritty fans but the convict stuff is too much for me…

Dumb Animals defend Vick

Yes, a parent should be responsible for a child that kills another person. Something is extremely wrong with their parenting skills.
When you starve, electrocute, beat, throw dogs to make them mean, you are a disturbed human being. D-O-G-S (plural). Get him where he lives – in his big fat wallet! This guy deserves millions as much as AIG executives.

Responsible, but

not punished. You can say parents are responsible, but they aren’t punished for it with jail or death anyways. These people are saying he should be killed for killing a dog…an animal. I can’t side with people that agree with this notion, nor will I ever. I also won’t persecute you for your opinion on this matter unless you first cast the first stone at me.

Good for both of you...

but remember if your dog kills another dog, YOU aren’t sent to prison for 23 months and YOU don’t lose your job over it and YOU aren’t being talked about in this post. But your dog probably won’t be put to death because he killed another “animal”.

Stupidity is no excuse

A dog that kills another dog is most certainly put down. Do you live in the United States? Are you running for President of North Korea where dogs are on the menu?
How much money do you make? Lot’s of people don’t have jobs here in the good Ol’ USA, or didn’t you notice?
Why pay him all that money for being ignorant and cruel
Man, People spend 2 years in jail for shoplifting. How many Publicists, Lawyers Blah, Blah Blah do the have? I am not voting for you, lol

by Irish American on Aug 14, 2009 3:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

so you kinda support my theories

so dogs are put down for killing other dogs. Why isn’t this a huge debate in America? because it’s a animal killing another animal. Would you hire a lawyer and go to court for your dog if he killed another dog?

by BDawkins20 on Aug 14, 2009 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

its different man

Vick orcistrated this thing, kidnaped, brutalized, tortured and killed dogs

not a good guy brother. If he were a dog sure they would put him down but i dont get that argument anyhow. Im just saying he thaught this out and funded it with money, his actions and his property

Question of the day

Do you think Labs are smarter then Vics?
The answer is yes.

are labs smarter than their owners who can’t spell Vick? V-I-C-K

Oh Go there…..Let’s talk about the intelligence of say a..Labradore Retriever vs. A Michael Vick.
They (Labs) can actually rescue humans

by Irish American on Aug 14, 2009 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

omg..

that’s an idiotic way of looking at it. “Labs can actually rescue humans” don’t humans rescue labs? Do labs set pay other labs to save humans? THEY’RE ANIMALS!!! If you hold labs and humans as equals you’re crazy.

Brian Dawkins for President

by BDawkins20 on Aug 14, 2009 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

OMG Back, your so literal

Labs are used as rescue dogs. I didn’t say they get paid, but ask a handler what they think of Vick. Wait I get it you can’t live in PA.
It is the Animalistic behavior, I want to see Vick on Monday Night with a shock collar on instead of a helmet.
Pittsburgh Steelers…you would never see Ward or Troy acting all “Let’s murder dogs tonight for fun”

and they sell it to people. Lions kill baby cubs of other lions cuz they aren’t theres. We don’t do that we’re above that. We eat animals, we use them for transportation, we use them for protection. They aren’t humans the same things don’t apply to them as they do for humans.

It’s Pittsburgh, that’s all that’s left man, you have to succumb. Steeler Fans are by far the most loyal and diehard. I will contact Rooney and see if they can get a stylist to change up the uniforms.
I am sooo sick of those colors too. Ok, Pgh is awesome anyway, I’m in Erie.

yeah ment to say live, anyhow I think the Eagles have the most loyal fans

Who said killed?

You should be president, your about as smart as the last couple. Hey, parents are responsible if their kid is truant..they have to pay a fine. You think they wouldn’t have to put up their life savings to defend that son or daughter?
Inner-City kids that have dog-fights….hmmm..I wonder where they got the idea??? I sure as hell didn’t do that when I was a kid and I grew up in the inner city. Nobody said kill the guy, just cut him loose. Why should he have every opportunity repeatedly. Because, he doesn’t get it. When you have a mansion and it has a special entertainment room for dog-fighting, answer me.

by Irish American on Aug 14, 2009 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

a fine can be paid. Just like his debt has been paid. And google it, people in PETA think he should be killed.

When you starve, electrocute, beat, throw dogs to make them mean, you are a disturbed human being.

He wasn’t convicted of doing any of these things. I’m not trying to defend him I think his non action when we knew what was going on is just as horrifying as if he were the person committing the act but I can at least give him a chance to change my mind.

People who are flat out saying Vick is not getting a shot to prove to them he has changed are the real criminals.
