Cowboys Fan's take on the Vick signing
My first thought was, "Goddammit, not the friggin' Iggles!"
I don't know if the signing of the Dogslayer will amount to a hill of beans from a football standpoint. Still, I don't like seeing y'all acquire talent... regarless of the baggage that comes with the talent.
The Eagles front office was wise to sign him now as opposed to closer to the opener. This gives the players time to acclimate to the increased media scrutiny and it gives the Eagles 3 weeks to let the furor die down. The coaches can start smoothing out the distractions while the games don't count.
Other than the year with T.O., y'all haven't had a star wide-out in 15+ years. Will Vick become a wideout? I really don't think the Wildcat will be much of an option (pun intended) this season. It's success was more a product of novelty than superior strategy. Could Vick make it work? Sure, until some roid-crazed linebacker got a good angle on him. Will this signal McNabb's final season as an Eagle? I hope so. He's kicked our asses for 10 years now and I'm pretty sick of it. Still, I don't think the Eagles' brass is dumb enough to do that.
I hear there is a lot of displeasure with the signing in the Philly area. I find it interesting that the fans who booed Santa are also anti-Vick. Oh well.
I'll end by wishing y'all crappy luck for the 2009 season.

Though you’ll need all the luck you can get; from an Eagles standpoint.

Ok...
what would it take for any of you “dog lovers” to forgive Vick? I don’t think he could do enough for you? It’s sad that most of you would rather have him dead for killing a dog than have him alive.
I don’t see any of you lobbying to have Donte Stallworth killed or Ray Lewis. Should all hunters be killed? What about everyone that works at a meat locker? I mean come on, nothing will make you happy.
What about forgive and forget? Have you ever made a mistake in your life that you think you’ve paid for? Should we condemn you for life? Remember even if you think it’s a small mistake, it may be huge in someone else’s eyes.

I’m a dog lover and have rescued several dogs … I am willing to move past this and give him a second chance. I’m not quite sure I can forgive him completely but I’m giving him the chance to help me with that.
