Ikegwuonu's Trial Postponed
If it weren't enough that Jack Ikegwuonu's pro football career got off to a rough start because of a pre-2008 NFL combine injury, the 5 foot, 200 pound Cornerback is now facing charges of residential burglary and criminal trespassing, which assumingly took place in November of 2006, when he and his brother Bill were accused of invading a townhouse in Wisconsin. According to the Daily Chronicle newspaper:
"His trial began Monday but was granted a recess [on] Tuesday until next week,
when a former tenant of the townhouse in question should arrive from California
to testify, DeKalb County Assistant State’s Attorney Victor Escarcida said."
After crime scene investigation of the townhouse (rented by Safyian Baba), the conclusion was created that Jack and/or his brother had broken into the house and stolen an Xbox video game console. Bill was acquitted and found not guilty in a separate trial held in April, but Jack's remains in progress, and is set to resume on July 16. This disturbance of the law and the trial seem to have maken Ikegwuonu's battle for a roster spot this offseason even harder. He was kept out of action all of last season--his rookie campaign--because of the offseason injury to his knee, and has since shown signs of promise, but has yet to prove he can stay away from off-field distractions like the current situation he's involved in.
The time taken to attend and prepare for the trial continuation is only taking away time from Ikegwuonu that he could have been practicing and working out in hopes of displaying a great amount of talent during the upcoming Training Camp. Although many have optimism regarding Jack's future in the NFL, it is currently looking very foggy. Now this trial is for something he did 3 years ago, but Ikegwuonu (see picture) best stay out of trouble and keep up with the rest of the Eagles' CBs fighting for a job.

Yes it is. Even though I don’t know all of the circumstances, you would think that since his brother was acquitted, they could get this settled a bit quicker. This seems like a big waste of time.

Dude
I reported this first as a fanshot….but the funnest part is he was found with a Xbox 360.
R.I.P, Air McNair
Why do you say....
…“he has yet to prove he can stay away from off field distractions”.
Other then the Xbox incident he has kept his nose pretty clean. I haven’t heard anything about him getting into any other trouble of any kind since then. Do you have any facts showing that he’s been in more trouble since the Xbox fiasco?
I agree this is getting just crazy then nothing can be done faster on this whole thing. He has talent I’ve seen him play at Wisconsin and he’s a tough guy and great tackler!!! He could become a really good CB for us.
its funny you say "kept his nose clean" lol
i believe he will be worth the past haunting him down the line … but here as to why i find your comment funny lol ….

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."
