Steve McNair found dead
I know I'm a bit late on this but I figured it was worthy of a front page mention. Former Tennessee Titans QB Steve McNair was found dead in his Nashville apartment yesterday.
Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, who led the famous Tennessee Titans' drive that came a yard short of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl, was found dead Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Police said a pistol was discovered near the body of a woman also shot dead in a downtown condominium
The reasons behind the killing are unknown at this point. What authorities do know is that the woman he was found with was a "friend" and a waitress at a local restaurant that McNair frequented. She was arrested for DUI 2 days prior while driving with McNair in his car.
I always liked Steve McNair and I'm sure I share most Eagles fan's sentiments in sending our condolences to his loved ones.
Titans blog Music City Miracles has a great tribute to McNair up.

murder/suicide
He probably tried to “cut off” the affair and he, unfortunately, nabbed a crazy one.
McNair was a good guy

GUN UNDER BODY
How did the gun land UNDER her body after she shot herself in the temple at point blank range? That’s what is a little unusual to me. What are the chances of the gun falling UNDER her body? And I keep reading about “no motive”. He was out drinking that night. He gets to her (his) place (btwn 130 and 2am), he is lit up, she is pissed, and caps him, then herself. I know that’s a little of a stretch, but , hey, gotta look at all angles. In any case, indeed a tragedy. I always looked at McNair as like a sorta McNabb wannabee…but still respected him. No one deserves to be murdered for ANY reason…Still think the weapon UNDER her body is SUSPECT!!!

Not to make light of a tragedy, but I honestly am pretty indifferent in regards to McNair’s passing. Of course my best wishes go to his family etc, etc, but I am no more distraught over his death than any stranger or person I did not know.
Personally, I really do not care much about athlete’s private lives. I argue this with my wife all the time. She reads People, Stars, and similar publications that pry into the private lives of actors/actresses and various famous people. My argument is that why do you care at all about what they do in their private lives? Enjoy what they do on the big screen, but to care about what they are wearing or whom they are dating is just going a bit too far.
I love watching The Eagles on the field, but my admiration basically stops there. That is not to say I don’t admire and respect when an athlete goes out of his way to support a worthy cause, but such nobility is everywhere, and I certainly do not single out or favor athletes or other famous people for doing good deeds. For the most part I really only watch them for what they do on the field.
McNair’s passing, while tragic, is no different than any of the estimated 6000+ deaths that occur daily in the USA, or over 150,000 deaths that occur daily all over the globe.
Lastly, I did not know McNair personally. I have not the slightest input as to what went on in his personal life. I also assume that the majority of the football fans whom are very quick to point out what an admirable person he was did not know him personally either. He may have been a great person, but being married with 4 kids and having what many are claiming to be his girlfriend/mistress certainly does not scream “model citizen” to me. In any case, once again best wishes to his family.

You didn’t have to be a fan of the Oilers or Titans to be a fan of Steve McNair. In some round about way I think McNair’s success in the NFL made it an easier decision for our front office to draft McNabb. He was one of the NFL’s true ironmen and one of the franchise’s elite. I’ll remember and respect the legacy/resume he built on the field as a professional.

+1, before him, there weren't many successfull black QBs in the league.
Other than Moon and Cunningham ( who was known as a running QB). McNaire showed that black QBs are more than just athletes. You are probrably correct, he probrably made the decision for McNabb easier.
Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!

By the way, I meant what I wrote in a non-racial way.
Just that McNaire showed that not all black QBs are running QBs and arent’ Rodney Peete or Andre Ware.
He was very successfull and made it known that color isn’t important to be a good quality QB.

CABLE GUY
Wow, the old McNair place. Never thought they’d get the floors clean after what happened…..
HAHAHAHA….
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

looks like she offed steve and then one shot to herself… what a ridiculous way to end your life, a seriously extreme way to think… read somewhere he was going to leave his wife? probably not right, hence the tragedy, or maybe he was going to leave her, there house in nashville is for sale. sahel kazemi’s nephew told the cops she bought the semi-pistol a couple days before?!?! wtf… cant blame it on her drug or alcohol use or her newly acquired escalade… i dont know, i see two suspects in my insignificant opinion, one is dead and one is grieving…

McNair Passing
…Steve “Air” McNair, a quarterback with ice in his veins at the right time, he was an iron giant on the field clutch wise, he gave the ball to his team mates, a great great man, left us to soon, may he rest in peace.
