Maclin deal getting close?
With more and more first round picks around Jeremy Maclin inking deals in the past day, rumors of a contract between he and the Eagles are heating up.
There were indications last night that a deal might be near between the Birds and their first-round wideout, who has missed six workouts in shorts, five of them held among rookies and a handful of veterans recovering from injuries. Team sources seemed to think the gap was narrowing, and that the rising number of slots being filled in above and below Maclin should speed the process.
Multiple reports say Maclin is in Philadelphia and the moment he gets word of a deal he can be in camp within hours. Today marks the first day of full squad workouts and while Maclin has missed valuable time already, now is when he could start to fall very far behind.

my thoughts
He will not start no mater how well he performs in TC / Pre Season the bottem line is he will not start.
Jackson / Curtus are the starters with jasen avant (aka i’m gona have a huge season) is in the slot. Maclin in my eyes missing TC sucks but he’s not Fitsgerald he is not Crabtree he is a 6’1" WR that has a lot of undeveloped tallent. Spread offences = WR love & bust in NFL.

crabtree comes from a spread
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

At least...
Maclin was smart enough to be in philly already. I’m glad to hear that when a deal is made, he won’t have to waste an extra day through travel.
orakpo and freeman have signed. vontae davis has come to terms with miami. so it shouldn’t be long till we sign maclin.
but crabtree, harvin, britt, or nicks have not so that might be the more telling tale.
RIP Jim Johnson. You will truly be missed.

This is how it always is...
No one’s signed…then suddenly everyone is. The only real difference is it seems to have taken longer to get to that point than in other years.
As long as he’s in camp by the end of the weekend I don’t really ahve a problem with what’s went down.
I don’t see Maclin signing before Crabtree does. I hope he does but I think we better buckle up because I could see this car ride taking quite a bit longer than anticipated.

Yeah, I think Crabtree may be the problem as well ...
… if Crabtree wins his “but I shoulda been taken higher” argument, then Maclin can very well do the same thing.
I wonder how their salaries will compare to Heyward-Bey, who was drafted higher but almost universally regarded as an inferior prospect to both.
