NFC East Rookie of '09
The NFL is going through a new era of young players. Gone are the days of the elite Marvin Harrison, Derrick Brooks, and many more. That said, the NFC East did well (3 out of 4). So which rookie will do the best in their team and then the best in the east. The players I choose from each team are the ones that are going to see more playing time than others.
Jeremy Maclin was the 17th pick in the 2009 draft by the Eagles. He's a big (6'0'', big for Eagles WR) and speedy guy, like DeSean Jackson. Thrid WR, probably going to be used in slot, mostly PR or KR. Biggest ? is the route running.
LeSean McCoy was our second pick in the draft. First RB to be picked that high by Andy. Reminds many Eagles fans of Brian Westbrook. He is fats and can catch the ball. Will see a lot of in screens and flat routes. Will see running abilities while West is away. Biggest ? is pass protection.
Cornelius Ingram was drafted for depth in the TE's. He's big, fast, and catch the ball. Situational guy b/c of Celek. Mostly passing downs and special teams. Biggest ? is run blocking.
The Winner: Im going to go with the sleeper in LeSean McCoy. Jeremy Maclin will definitely see much playing time, but the way Reid uses his running backs makes me excited.
Brian Orakpo will definitely start with the Redskins. Lot of heat towards the Redskins for putting him at LB instead of DE. Whatever. Will get success with Albert Haynesworth causing havoc in the middle. To be honest, our (Eagles) line better watch out for him.
Late round pick by the Redskins, Kevin Barnes add much need help at CB with poor "starters" (Hall and Smoot). Probably will be used in Nickel or Dime.
Winner: No contest, Orakpo (hopefully I'm spelling his name right)
Hakeem Nicks adds MUCH NEEDED HELP AT WR. The Giants are hoping for another success like the Eagles. Ironic that they make his number 18. Like he's gonna be better than 17. As long as he doesn't shoot himself, he's in good shape.
A little short, Clint Sintim was one of my favorite LB coming out. Fast and has good instincts, I see him replacing Danny Clark FAST.
Another Giants WR, Rames Barden has considerable size and speed (6'6'' and 4.68) compared to Nicks (6'1'' and 4.63) See him more like Plax.
Winner: Really, if one of these WR's can prove to be a consistent target, they are the winner. I'm gonna go with the dark horse in Rames Barden.
The Cowboys did horrible in the draft. Lots of low picks. This one might play b/c of lack of depth. Jason Williams is a little short (6'1'')
Winner:.........Jason Williams........by default
We can already eliminate the cowboys rookie from NFC east rookie of 09. I also think that because the OL's in the East are good (Yes they are good. The Cowboys are just super weak at depth and interior play) Orakpo is a no no.
Winner:
He's much more versatile in the offence then Barden. Plus, Barden are as good as a third or fourth WR. McCoy is like a Chester Taylor to West.

I think any one of the 3 eagles prospects will make a difference. and win i, giants receivers choke under pressure, everyone saw the dropped passes. Orakpo will do great but gets passed over because the skins can’t move the ball on offense. I think the darkhorse of eagles is MACHO HARRIS. looking at game film highlights he is just like mikell and dawkins where he isn’t afraid to hit someone. I say look for him to make an impact the second half of the year.

Unless he can make a big special teams impact in camp, the Eagles will have no way to justify his roster spot. Lets just hope he has good instincts in the chaotic game of kick/punt coverage and is able to prove that he deserves the roster spot over Rashad Baker
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

i'd go with ingram
i really think ingram will be pushing for the starting spot if he shows he can block in the preseason

I like Celek and Ingram equally
I say OPEN COMPETITION for TE postition.. Let Ingram and Celek fight it out or block it out. I like what Celek has done for us, he is a great target but Ingram is super athletic and might be able to block better.

Maclin was the 19th pick.
… we all know what you meant though.

hmmmm..
Nicks could have some impact with the Giants because their WR depth chart leaves much to be desired. Even though he’s probably not going to kill anyone deep, I see him as an Anquan Boldin type. Barden is very tall, yes, but he is also very raw at this point.
I would concur that McCoy will have the most impact in the East. Westbrook needs some help and this guy’s got all the skills. Yeah, his pass blocking needs work, but blocking is a learned skill so I’m confident that with proper coaching he will improve in that area. Same thing with Maclin’s route running. These guys have way too much talent to be scared off by things that good coaching can improve.

off/def
A lil rough to compare def. and off. rookies.
Obviously the best bets are between maclin/mccoy and nicks. The way it looks now i would say mccoy has the best chance of seein the most time on the field. So id go w/ Mccoy to have the best numbers.
Orakpo is easily the best def. pick in the draft this year, and will see the most time. (in the BEast)
That being said, to crown a winner, you’ll have to compare the numbers Orakpo and Mccoy for a winner. Good like tryin to split hairs over def. and off. numbers if they have similiar stats.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Its kind of a no brainer.
RBs play sooner because its mostly instinctive. Your top RB is hurt. Orakpo is the biggest talent going to a team that has enough juice to leave him singled up. He is the only real threat.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the goverment from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
