Really B.Hopp

Aright this is justing getting tiresome. why are there so many haters on dnabb. Here is Bernard Hopkins taking his stance of mcnabb. BTW some background information on Hopkins:

Bernard Hopkins, known as the Executioner (born January 15, 1965, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American boxer. He is best known for his ten year reign as middleweight world champion in which he successfully defended his title a record 20 times. He is the first fighter to retain all 4 major boxing governing body belts including the Ring Magazine belt in the same fight. He is the oldest man to ever hold the middleweight championship in professional boxing.[1]

After finding this i do have respect for the man and what he was able to accomplish, but his logic on mcnabb is just stupid, it makes no sense at all.

Star-divide

When discussing McNabb's newly reworked contract, Hopkins said the fans will have to suffer for two more years. During the interview, he called McNabb a lapdog and a frontrunner, said he has no heart and suggested the team should have given serious thought to replacing him with Michael Vick.

"I think he plays for the moment, whether it's winning or losing," Hopkins said. "I think he plays to win, but I don't think his demeanor and I don't think his personality fits to win tomorrow, to win the next week and to win with any means necessary. There's a difference than wanting to win and showing that you want to win. I think that most athletes go in the ring or in the court, basketball or football, go in there with the intentions of winning until something is different that they feel that they don't want to deal with, understand or just be in the mix. Some people just want to be in the mix, Howard. And if they get lucky and be like 'Oh I can win this' then they'll go ahead and they'll show their swagger. But at the end of the day, you got frontrunners and you got runners, and he's one of the greatest frontrunners I've ever seen in the NFL."

One of the more interesting parts of the interview was when Eskin laid out his theory for why Hopkins always hates on McNabb.

Per Eskin, Hopkins once went to an Eagles practice, and while McNabb said hello to the ex-middleweight champ, Hopkins felt like the Birds' QB blew him off a little bit and has held a grudge ever since.

Hopkins denied Eskin's theory, but when he recalled the situation, it certainly sounded like McNabb rubbed him the wrong way when they crossed paths.

"When I did go to the NovaCare Center with my team, was he like everybody else? Like the rest of the players? Was he giving us respect, giving everybody respect, my trainer, myself and all that, just coming over, sign this, sign that or whatever? No, he sort of ran into a little room and locked the door and came out every now and then to peak his head out to see if we left yet," Hopkins said. "But that just tells you he's not a social guy."

"When a guy is uncomfortable that the light is not actually on him, then you have some people that can't take it," he continued. "And look, the bottom line is if you want the light to be on you, you gotta do what champions do. You win, you win, you win, you win and you win the big one."

Eskin and Hopkins took calls from fans, a couple of whom could not understand Hopkins' stance. One even suggested that if Hopkins feels McNabb lacks the intensity and heart necessary to win a title, why not help him?

Hopkins predicted the Eagles would win seven games this season, and made no bones about the reason why.

"He don't have the heart," he said of McNabb. "He don't want to fail so he don't want to try."

I don't think anyone is suffering from McNabb's tenure as Hop mentioned before. Dnab has been one of the best qbs in the league and has kepth this team competitive when healthy and on top of his game. Your thoughts on this.......

a piece of shit?

I believe so.

McNabb has done more with less, while hurt, than most other QBs in the league. (See fanpost on top 10 gustiest performances). He’s been completely crucified in this city for years because we’re so blinded with greed for a ring, we can’t appreciate how well he plays. And he’s been a tremendous winner. He’s fallen short many times but thats not all his fault. He suits up and tries again. That’s will, that’s desire, he gets knocked down and he gets back up time and time again.

Public perception of McNabb

is so interesting to me. The only people who don’t seem to really like him are fans of other teams or are people who don’t know dick about succeeding in football.

I have a coworker who HATES McNabb. Asked why, he states it is because he is not a “true, pocket-passing QB” that “looks to run” at the first sign of trouble. My response is, “So. You’re not an Eagles fan, so why do you care? Did you knock Steve Young for the same approach?” My coworker than lets the real reason for his hatred come to light: because Rush Limbaugh got blackballed for what he said about McNabb many moons ago on ESPN (my coworker is a staunch Republican/Rush mouth-piece/mouth-breather… I’m not trying to politicize this topic. To each their own).

Really, because I am a biased Eagles fan through and through, I can’t see what other people see. I’m incapable of it. But there is definitely something that is polarizing about McNabb. When he is doing well, the haters seem to go into hiding. The second he has a single slip-up they gather their pitch forks and axes.

The only real response that makes sense (to others, not me) is that he smiles whether he wins or loses. My response is who gives a shit? I know he isn’t on the field just to cash in a paycheck. Of all positions on the field, the QB position is the single position where that isn’t really possible as that type of play/thinking will get the player seriously hurt.

i can’t stand mcnabb haters. they are usually people who really don’t understand how the game works or have a personal vendetta of some kind. mcnabb is a very good quarterback. is he the best? no. is he a future hall of famer? maybe. but to think that mike vick is a better option is laughable. plus (and i know i may anger some people here) i don’t think kolb is the future. i’m sorry, but i would much rather have mcnabb behind center. who knows though?

in response to this quote (which i agree with you, j800)…

The only real response that makes sense (to others, not me) is that he smiles whether he wins or loses.

i would much rather have a quarterback who smiles all the time than deal with this…

does your co-worker realize that limbaugh is a racist?

I’m of the opinion that my coworker is a closet racist, so my guess would be yes. He says some questionable things that makes me truly wonder. I’ll add to it that he is one of the most ignorant, happily-uneducated people I’ve ever met.

he called McNabb a lapdog and a frontrunner, said he has no heart and suggested the team should have given serious thought to replacing him with Michael Vick.

Stopped reading after I saw this. Anyone who wants Vick to replace McNabb can go play in traffic. As a matter of fact, that’s my method of sifting out intelligent football fans from the idiots – if you are a blind McNabb hater you are an idiot (sorry dad).

Definitely agree with the Vick thing. Some people hate on McNabb with the he can’t win it all thing. Until he wins one, whatever I’ll allow that. You don’t think he has a good demeanor, alright. But to want to replace him with Mike Vick? Sorry buddy, unacceptable.

Amen!

Maybe smiling isn’t the best approach to some people, but sitting on the field presumably bawling is far worse in my opinion.

I just hope the McNabb haters shut the f**k up the day he hoists that Lombardi Trophy up in the air for the world to see!

We'd be better with Vick?

Is this guy’s head that far up his own ass?

Wow this was just fun to read … where did you get this … the onion?

Wait this is real? he was serious?

BAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a joke I just diagnosed Bernard Hopkins as punch drunk.

SO THIS HOPKINS GUY IVE NEVER

even heard of wants us to get rid of a potential future HOFer, the guy who has taken us to the Superbowl(although we lost) and the guy who has taken us to the NFC championship a ton of times, a good role model in society with the guy who served almost 2 years for funding a dog fighting ring, the guy who flicked off his own fans and the guy who pretty much wasnt an effective QB…

I think all those years of boxing scrambled his brains.
